On paper, Chris Brennan looks perfect. He's applying for a job as a high school government teacher, he's ready to step in as an assistant baseball coach, and his references are impeccable.

But everything about Chris Brennan is a lie.

Susan Sematov is proud of her son Raz, a high school pitcher so athletically talented that he's being recruited for a full-ride scholarship to a Division I college, with a future in major-league baseball. But Raz’s father died only a few months ago, leaving her son in a vulnerable place where any new father figure might influence him for good, or evil.

Heather Larkin is a struggling single mother who lives for her son Jordan's baseball games. But Jordan is shy, and Heather fears he is being lured down a dark path by one of his teammates, a young man from an affluent family whose fun-loving manner might possibly conceal his violent plans.

Mindy Kostis succumbs to the pressure of being a surgeon's wife by filling her days with social events and too many gin and tonics. But she doesn’t know that her husband and her son, Evan, are keeping secrets from her – secrets that might destroy all of them.

At the center of all of them is Chris Brennan. Why is he there? What does he want? And what is he willing to do to get it?

Great book by Lisa. Sterling book

Ahh another enjoyable read. Thank you Lia Scottoline! I love your books! This was another really enjoyable books.

One perfect lie by Lisa Scottoline. Excellent. A unique and different plot from most mystery-crime books. The characters were real, developing believable feelings.the twists and turns of the plot held my interest to the end!

On Perfect Lie. It's no lie to say I enjoyed this book. An interesting concept, well written and fast paced.

Good with issues.. The book was good, but I found the beginning troubling since it focused on the deceiving high school students and their parents.

Page Turning. Lisa never disappoints me. Her books are so well written. They are warm and heartfelt. Thank you for another great story.

Almost great. Clever plot. Slightly clunky writing, promoting ignorant left wing propaganda towards the end. Did she write this or did her assistant?

Very good!. I did receive this book free from netgalley in order to give any feedback and/or reviews. I do not think this effected my review at all. I really enjoyed reading this book. It was suspenseful and I would have never guessed the ending. It is a very easy read for the days of spring and summer. I was a bit disappointed in the ending but overall I liked this novel .

One perfect lie. Okay

Gripping. Love this author. She keeps me interested at every turn. Definitely a suspenseful read

Just average - don’t bother. I expected far more than this predictable piece. I found the writing itself to be less than fluid, and elementary in language. The beginning leads you down a path of focus until you learn that the main character isn’t what you thought; creating a shift that annoyed rather than intrigued. The characters were stereotypical and without depth. It wasn’t even a good plot...I didn’t finish it. Waste of money.

One Perfect Lie. Reads as if it's a teen book. "He created his own resume, identity, whatever..." If works w the FBI, they would have built alternate ID. Presented as it is, sounds like a terrorist planning an attack. Jumps around too much, too quickly. Makes it hard to track. No 'anchoring' of lead protagonist - as well as his "investigation methodology" is epic fail. Gives strong impression that he's a terrorist bent on using a young person to commit terrorist act, as opposed to investigating a possible crime. Repetitive setting up situations to "test" his subjects using psych-type references comes off as just silly. Author verbiage such as, "Rolled her eyes adorably;" "Shooed those feelings away" etc. Sounds like a bible school teacher. Didn't finish it. Gave it a couple hundred pages in hopes it was just a slow start, but it wasn't. Sounds like an author under pressure to write SOMETHING-no matter what. I've enjoyed the Rosatto series. This smacks of an author trying to break out of a mold, but unsuccessfully.

One Little Lie. A very disappointing book. It will be a long time before I buy another from Lisa Scottoline. A third of the way through I skipped to the end, not interesting.

Lisa Scottoline's latest novel!. One Perfect Lie is the newest book by Lisa Scottoline. Chris Brennan has applied to teach AP Government at Central Valley High School. He has also requested to be the assistant varsity baseball coach. Chris has excellent resume and is quickly hired. What no one knows is that his resume and name are untruths. Why did Chris position himself at Central Valley High School? Raz Sematov, Jordan Larkin, and Evan Kostis are three of Chris’ students and they are also on the varsity baseball team. Raz is going through a rough patch. His father, Mike passed away a few months ago and Raz is acting out. Raz has a temper (as well as a hyper personality) and he has yet to learn how to control it. Evan Kostis is the popular rich kid with a doctor for a father and a mother who copes by drinking. Jordan Larkin is a quiet boy with a single mother. Jordan’s mother, Heather works as a waitress at Central Valley Country Club. Chris quickly gains the boys trust, but he has an ulterior motive. There is something going on in Central Valley and Chris (or whoever he is) is aware of it. Is he behind it? One Perfect Lie captured my interest in the beginning. It is clear that Chris is lying (to the reader), but we do not know why. Soon, though, the truth is revealed and the novel is less captivating. I figured out the plot, the twists and the characters involved long before they are revealed. I was hoping for a novel with more suspense, mystery and surprises. I give One Perfect Lie 3 out of 5 stars. I felt that the book was too long and it had a slow pace. The pace slows down considerably in the second half of the book. I just wanted more, and I expected more from this writer. I was disappointed with the romance in the book. It was unnecessary and did not need to be included. I felt that too much of the story (especially in the second half) was devoted to possible relationship between Chris and Heather Larkin (especially the end). There are many characters in this book and the readers get background details on each one of them (I only listed a few of the characters). I did not like the scenes between Chris and his compatriots. I finished the book (finally) and was left with unanswered questions.

One Perfect Lie. Slow start which only increase the tension as the story unfolded. Excellent read! By the half way point I couldn't put it down. Thanks Lisa!

5 Stars!. This book was hard to put down. It grabbed and kept my interest from page one. Chris Brennan wasn't who he said he was. His lies had an impact on people's lives. The book kept me thinking, as well as reading.

Good read. I liked this book, it wasn’t a can’t put it down read

Good Read. It was the firstLS read for me. I enjoyed it but the end was a bit far out. I find this happening a lot. All these great reads just lose it at the end.

One Perfect Lie. Awesome!!!! I had no idea!! It was a great novel and I hope Curt gets more books!!!!

Impossible To Put Down!. One Perfect Lie is a gripping, perfectly paced and cleverly written thriller. I loved every page of this captivating book.  A suspected terrorist bombing was about to go down in Pennsylvania. And, ATF Special Agent Curt Abbot knew that he had only a week to prevent it. His gut was telling him that Central Valley High School was involved and playing a key role in the attack. Everyone fell in love with, Chris Brennan, the new assistant coach, and teacher at Central Valley High School. He was handsome, charismatic, and knew just how to spin a tale to make everyone believe his lies. Chris studied people so he could manipulate and exploit them easily. To Chris, people were just a means to an end. That was, until, he met the good folks, in his new small Pennsylvania town. Unlike him, they were genuine. He hated deceiving them, especially, Jordan, one of his students, and Heather, the kid’s single mom. Chris had always been a loner. But for the first time in his life, he wanted more. He wanted Heather, her son, and a normal life. Chris didn’t want to see their faces, though, when they discovered what he had done and just how he had betrayed them. What a terrible time for him to grow a conscience. I thoroughly enjoyed reading One Perfect Lie and highly recommend giving it a read. Thank you, St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley, for my advanced review copy. I loved it.
