Good enough. Good enough

Highly recommend. Enjoyed this book very much. Have already finished the 2nd book and bought the third. Highly recommend this series!!!

Scared to death. Good book.

Good title. Good story

Interesting twists and a sadistic bad guy. I voluntarily received an ARC of Scared to Death for a blog tour. This is the second novel I’ve read by Amphlett and it did not disappoint.  The story starts off fast with a set of parents trying to save their daughter from a kidnapper.  It was extremely thrilling and got the blood pumping. It was the perfect opening to draw the reader into the story.  Enter our main protagonist Detective Sergeant Kay Hunter, and all the inner politics and workings of the British Police.  For those of you who don’t read my blog, I am an American so I always find it interesting to read books from the other side of the “pond”.  I found myself highlighting phrases to go back and check later or was using Wikipedia.  For example making someone redundant, we call that being laid off.  Or take the Mickey out of him which I don’t think we have an equivalent. It makes the reading interesting and I have to do a mental shift to processes the “language”.  In Scared to Death it wasn’t too difficult, I’ve watched a few movies, that I’ve had to turn the subtitles on.  LOL This is a mystery, suspense, thriller, slash police drama/crime drama, centered on Kay Hunter.  Kay just got finished going through an inquiry regarding missing evidence in a case, what we would call an IA or Internal Affairs investigation.  She is suspected of being a dirty cop by some of her peers.  Which is making her life as a detective, difficult at best.  She was cleared of wrongdoing and is given the case of the Kidnapping, much to the chagrin of said peers. The case is fast moving and intense.  With a bunch of twist and turns that keep the reader engaged.  There is the inner workings of the chase along with the POV from the bad guy, it was exciting.  Where things slowed for me, Amphlett tends to give too many inane details that don’t add anything to the story, except to slow the pace.  Case in point. “Kay shut the door as he distributed the drinks onto the table, then took her seat next to him.  She reached out for her coffee, and blew across its surface.”      Then there was the interview of the farmer which was a repeat of what just happened.  It was frustrating.  I don’t like when the pace is moving at a fast clip and then it is bogged down with too many details that aren’t necessary.  In a thriller I want to keep my adrenaline pumping.  It did in the beginning, a little in the middle and then the end.  I wish it would have kept the pace throughout.  Overall it was a pretty good read, with some interesting twists and a sadistic bad guy.  I am rating it 4 Boundless Stars....Sara

Well Written. I thought this book was well written , kept me interested throughout the whole book. I will be reading more in this series. I do recommend this book.

I loved this book, it keeps you on edge , all twists and turns, I didn’t want to put it down. Loved this book, keeps you

Enjoyed the Read. Started reading this and couldn’t put it down. Very nice story line. Chapters move to different characters point of views which can be confusing but the author does a good job of transitioning into the different characters. Glad this was on the free book list.

Scared to Death. Rachel Amphlett. A serial killer with deep twisted psych issues is kidnapping and murdering young girls. He’s background is a deeply troubled past. Detective Sergeant Kay Hunter and the rest of the homicide team is running out of time to find the last kidnapped victim. An absolutely tremendous read!! Enjoyed immensely!!! My highest recommendation!!!

Gripping. Fantastic characterisation, fast paced. I couldn’t put this down, read it in one night.

Well worth a read. This is a story that grips you. The woman detective sergeant is a believable character and the whole series of events in the book flow nicely. I really enjoyed reading this book and therefore I can recommend it as a really good read!

A good read. Not too bad. I enjoyed it enough to download the next in the series.

Scared to death. Excellent could not put it down, so excited for the next one to read,

Excellent thriller. This is right up my street, feisty leads, gritty thrillers what not to like. I have to admit I rather like Detective Kay Hunter and cannot wait to read more in the series. She is like a dog with a bone never lets go. Highly recommended must read.

Scared to death.. A great read. The only part that let the book down was when an experienced cop goes after the perpetrator alone and obviously land up in trouble. If that changed this would be a five star book.

Best book. I …NEVER READ IT it seems so good

Such a waste of time! It’s padded with irrelevant, inconsequential tripe.. Such a waste of time! It’s padded with irrelevant, inconsequential tripe.

Scared to Death. Not bad, but author needs a better proof reader.

Scared to Death. Really enjoyed this story, more please !! Oh, and, WHAT HAPPENED TO THE SNAKE ? Lol

Great intro to this series. This book is a great introduction to Kay Hunter and her team. Kay is a likeable character who works hard at her job, sometimes to her own detriment. I enjoy her interaction with her work colleagues, even though I'm not sure they're all Team Hunter. Her relationship with her partner Adam is a joy to read, I'm hoping these two last the distance. Looking forward to more!

Scared to death. Great story could, not put it down, will read more of her stories.

Great holiday reading!. I loved this one too, I am enjoying the this series!

Great. A great page turner, couldn’t put it down.
