Sweet Tea and Spirits by Angie Fox Book Summary

From New York Times bestselling author Angie Fox

Southern girl Verity Long is about as high society as her pet skunk. Which is why she’s surprised as anyone when the new head of the Sugarland social set invites her to join the "it" girls. But this is no social call. Verity’s new client needs her to go in undercover and investigate strange happenings at the group’s historic headquarters.

But while spirits are whispering hints of murder, the socialites are more focused on Verity’s 1978, avocado-green Cadillac. And when Verity stumbles upon a fresh body, she's going to need the long-dead citizens of Sugarland to help her solve the crime. Good thing she has the handsome deputy sheriff Ellis Wydell on hand, as well as her ghostly sidekick Frankie. The bad thing is, the ghosts are now whispering about the end of a certain ghost hunter.

Angie Fox does it again!. Another great one by Angie Fox! This series just keeps getting better and better. It was very hard to put down! Ellis and Verity are doing better and better despite Virginia's interference. And Verity is getting to be an amazing ghost hunter, thanks to and still occasionally no thanks to Frankie. Fantastic ending! Can't wait for the next one!

Another Great book. I have been patiently waiting for the new book to come out. And I was not disappointed, Franky is still to his antics and grounded at Veritys and the ghost are still causing her trouble. This time by warning her about murder that hasn't even happened. Totally love this series.

Sweetly Southern. Love all the books in this series. Being a southern belle myself I truly love all the southern influence in this book. The Verity/Frankie relationship is the best but, I'm glad he found a lady friend on the ghostly level. If you have read the other books you will not be disappointed in this one. I already can't wait for the next!

I love verity long. Loved this book. Fun and entertaining. Great for anyone interested in reading romance, mystery, paranormal, with a little bit of action. Verity Long is a smart and quirky heroine that you can't help but enjoy. She has a way of finding trouble every where she goes but always manages to end up on top. She has the ability to make the best of every situation. Her sidekick Frankie keeps it interesting with all of his antics from illegal racing in Verity's backyard to courting a innocent ghost in the middle of murder investigation. I love the historical references and her southern belle lessons. No matter what situation Verity does her best to act like a lady. She does not let her financial situation or society status get her down. Slowly but surely she seems to be winning the residents of Sugarland over one person at a time. I love this series and can't wait to see what mystery Verity will get to solve next.

Fun, fast paced fifth installment!. Book 5 in Angie Fox's Southern Ghost Hunter series, Sweet Tea and Spirits, is a wild ride from start to jaw dropping finish. Verity Long and her eclectic crew are back and as color as ever, solving crimes and stirring things us in Sugarland as only they can. The story opens with a mysterious phone call that instantly sets off alarm bells in Verity's head. With her ghostly gangster sidekick, Frankie, in tow, and her handsome boyfriend, Officer Ellis Wydell, at her side, she jumps head first into her latest case and this one promises to be a doozy. Located in a historical building, the Sugarland Heritage Society, most recently headed up by Ellis' mother and Verity's nemesis, Virginia, is the site of the latest town troubles. Throught the process of uncovering long buried secrets and unholy alliances, we learn a bit about perceptions and prejudices that shape our belief systems. In this particular installment, love is also abundant in the air, and it's charming. Development of existing relationships, introduction of new couples, and reminisces of long ago, once-in-a-lifetime loves all serve to make the story a little more personal, and the characters even more relatable. If you are a reader who loves details, this book will especially appeal to you. From the character descriptions, intricate details of places, and particulars about how things occur, the minutia clarify the author's vision, and provide a solid basis for future installments in the series. With the adept weaving in of the backstory, this book more than stands alone as a great read all on its own. However, if you enjoy mystery series with quirky, lovable characters, well developed stories, and memorable settings, the entire Southern Ghost Hunter series is a must.

Ghostly Great Read. This book was a delight. I love how each character is developed more and more with each book and how Verity is growing more comfortable in her skin.

Sweet Tea and Spirits. I ADORE Angie Fox! Number 5 in the Southern Ghost Hunters series is incredible! Verity and Frankie make a great team, regardless of Frankie's adversion to it. I had chills in just the first couple of pages and I couldn't put it down! I'm super anxious to see what comes next for them and they're new found relationships!

Southern ghost hunter mysteries. I really enjoy this whole series. I think this would make a fun show on tv / Netflix as well.

Awesome story that I couldn't put down!!. This is only the second Verity Long book I've read, but I loved it. Frankie is one of my favorite characters and I enjoyed the scenes between Verity and Virginia, her current boyfriends mom (and her ex-fiancé's mom lol). This book flowed so smoothly and was impossible to put down. I highly recommend this book!

Ghost Stories. Love!! I am a big fan of The Southern Ghost Hunter Series. A must read.

Love reading this series!. This series is a favorite of mine and this book does not disappoint! Verity takes on another ghost hunting job with her ghost pal Frankie, this time for the new President of the local historical society. Verity & Frankie along with her boyfriend Ellis have to solve a few murders and correct the history of the town. Frankie gets in trouble with a new gangster visiting town and has to go into hiding. He also falls in love! I enjoyed the story about Mick the Angel Maker and Verity's grandmother. Mother Mary's phone calls to Verity definitely had my heart racing. Describing the phone dialing in front of Verity had my imagination going! Love a good scare once in awhile when I'm reading. I hope Verity wins the towns respect soon for her abilities and would love to see Ellis's mom admit that Verity & Ellis belong together. Virginia is really the only character I really don't like in this series. This book was awesome and I can't wait to see what mystery Verity & Frankie have to solve next. (and more Lucy!)

Another 5 star read from Angie Fox. Get ready for another fun filled mystery with Verity Long, her not so friendly ghost Frankie "The German", and her wonderful cop boyfriend Ellis! Things are finally looking up for Verity but now she is tasked yet again with finding a murderer, whether it be human or on the ghostly plane! I absolutely have adored every book in this series! Each one is better than the last and are always full of lighthearted fun, suspense, and tons of laugh out loud moments!

Love!!!. I love the Southern Spirits Series! These are my favorite books. Equal parts romance and mystery they keep me engaged and not wanting to put my book down until it's over. This book is centered on murder in the historical society headquarters, it seems that there may be more to the house's history then is presented and Verity Long must sort through it all. Lots of twists and turn and of course the growing romance between Ellis and Verity. The only con... never enough Ellis! And of course I'm still waiting to see more of what happened with Maise from two books ago!!!

Sweet Tea and Spirits. Another great story

Fifth book in series!. Sweet Tea and Spirits by Angie Fox is the fifth book in The Southern Ghost Hunter Mysteries. Verity Long is enjoying a quiet moment with her boyfriend, Ellis Wydell when she receives a phone call. The call is from the Sugarland Heritage Society and the caller says, “I need you” and “There’s been a murder”. Ellis is then dispatched to investigate a break in at the same location. He finds the building locked up tight, but the security alarm was set off. Verity becomes the laughingstock of the town when no body was found (gossip spreads quickly in Sugarland). Verity talks Frankie into loaning her his power (after some bartering), and they set off to explore the heritage society. The heritage society building was once a Home for Wayward Widows and Orphans run by Mother Mary Cooper. Verity is greeted by Julia Harper Youngblood, the newly elected president of the Sugarland Heritage Society. She recently ousted Verity’s arch nemesis, Virginia Wydell (happy dance for Verity). It is immediately obvious that ghosts are on the premises, and they are having fun with the society’s displays. Julia hires Verity to explore the spirit activity and pays her in cash (which puts Frankie in a jovial mood). As Verity is leaving the heritage society, she gets roped into becoming a member. Frankie has gotten himself into hot water with Mick “The Angel Maker”, and he needs to go on the lam (Verity finds the perfect spot for him). Verity returns to the heritage society that night to talk to the ghosts who inhabit the house and finds Julia dead at the bottom of the stairs. While the officer on scene believes it is an accident, Verity knows she was murdered. Verity wants to find Julia’s killer, and she will need a little ghostly help to accomplish it. Verity is surprised when she gets some assistance from an unexpected source. In her spare time, Verity needs to get Mick “The Angel Maker” to forgive Frankie and find out why Frankie is looking so spiffy (and acting strangely). Just another normal week for Verity in Sugarland, Tennessee. Join in on the fun by reading Sweet Tea and Spirits! Sweet Tea and Spirits is a humorous novel. You will find yourself laughing frequently at Verity and Frankie’s antics. The book is well-written and engaging. The characters are endearing and quirky (especially Frankie). I highly recommend reading the other books in the series before starting Sweet Tea and Spirits. It will help you to understand Verity’s financial situation, her relationship with Frankie, and why she became a ghost hunter. I have found each book in the series is better than the previous one. I give Sweet Tea and Spirits 5 out of 5 stars. Sweet Tea and Spirits is jam packed, but it all ties together for one hilarious and sweet story. There is an unexpected romance, ghostly horse racing (and gambling), an unexpected alliance, and a historical home with a surprising history. The mystery is more complicated than past whodunits in the series, but it is still easily solved. It is nice to see Verity’s character develop as she explores the supernatural and as her relationship with Ellis deepens. It was also nice to see change in Frankie. It was unexpected and amusing. I will impatiently wait for Angie Fox’s next book in The Southern Ghost Hunter Mysteries.

Must Read. Fantastic fun, romantic, ghost mystery. Love all the books but this is my favorite!! Way to go Frankie!!

Fun Read. Great vacation read. I really enjoyed Angie's latest installment of her Southern Ghost Hunter Mysteries series. A ghostly call for help Verity to the Heritage Society's Home for Widows and Orphans in Sugarland. But there is no dead body just the society president asking for help with some suggestively placed mannequins in the museum. The president wants Verily to help her figure out what's going on. Verily is more than happy to help unfortunately she is having some unexplained car trouble when ever she gets close to the house. Before she has time to begin her investigation there is an actual murder at the house. Verity feels she now is responsible for figuring out who the murderer is. With the help of her resident reluctant ghost Frankie and her hunky boyfriend Officer Ellis she investigates. After a few potentially deadly turns she succeeds in catching the killer.

Sweet Tea and Spirits. Here's my honest review of Sweet Tea and Spirits. I had some mixed emotions of this book! There's absolutely no doubt I'm a huge fan of Angie Fox! The fifth installment of our favorite gal chasing ghosts has us seeing more into her relationship with Her boyfriends mom, Virginia. They can get along but it's still strained and Virginia would still have Verity never see her son again. Frankie finally finds possible love! Maybe he won't be so dang grouchy and negative now! Although that side of him will be missed! I knew who the murderer was without trying hard. It was a bit of a let down. I feel like all the books in this series end the same...Verity always on the brink of dying and then someone comes to the rescue etc etc. I would love to see something different but I'm just the reviewer! All in all another solid book

Great Mystery full of fun characters!. OMG Angie Fox just gets better and better. This is book 5 in Angie Fox's Southern Ghost Hunter series, however while you will want to read each of the previous books you do not have to read them to follow SWEET TEA AND SPIRITS. Yes this is a continuing series, and yes there is a continuing story-line with Frankie, the gangster ghost, however each book stands on its own and has an ending. There are no cliff-hangers in these books. These books follow Verity Long, as she deals with ghosts, mysteries, her boyfriend Ellis and Ellis' family. I love the fact these stories evolve much how life itself does. The characters grow and change but still remain true to who they are. I love watching Verity get more comfortable with where she is in life and what that means for her future. I love Ellis...I want more Ellis...he's such a great character. But I think even better is ghost Frankie. He's such a character. Add in Verity's pet skunk, Lucy, and all the surprise "guests" that show up and you are always in for a fun engaging well-written time. I eagerly devour these books every-time I get them. They are written in first person but somehow that only adds to the appeal of these books. You never feel lost. Although I will say this one left me on the edge of my seat a couple of times. I was worried about Verity and Frankie. Fans of Angie Fox are in for a treat with SWEET TEA AND SPIRITS. If you are new Angie Fox but love great well written mysteries with outstanding characters and a setting you'll adore then you need to add SWEET TEA AND SPIRITS to your to buy list NOW. You won't be disappointed. Now to wait for the next book.......ugh that's the hard part, the waiting.

Another winner from Angie Fox. I always look forward to a new book by Angie Fox. Each book in this series gets stronger than the previous entry. Verity can see ghosts with the help of her reluctant sidekick, Frankie, a ghost from the Roaring Twenties. They are stuck with each other ever since she unwittingly dumped his ashes over her rose bush and gave it a good watering. That grounded Frankie to her property and their relationship has developed very well. After four mysteries, Verity finally gets paid some serious money for her gift of ghost hunting. Ghosts are active in the house currently used by the local historical society and the president of the society wants to pay Verity to get them to stop. Not long after her meeting with Verity, the woman is found dead at the foot of the stairs. Verity is the only person who can find the answers. With Frankie's help, of course. People still think she is a bit weird but, being proper Southerners, they sort of humor her. This series can be read out of order but I would say start at the beginning and settle in for Verity's story to develope.

Ghostly High Jinxs. Book 5 in the Southern Ghost Hunter Series presents a more cohesive and decisive direction for the ghost partnering adventures of Verity and Frankie. Still hold onto your hat as Frankie and his gangster ghost pals complicate the search for the killer as mysterious pranks at the historic society provide clues. Verify gains unlikely allies in a surprising finale. I loved this highly entertaining mystery. I would recommend it readers who enjoy fast, romantic, mysteries.

Deader Homes and Gardens. This is one of the best series I have ever read and I read a lot!! I plan to read every one of Angie Fox’s books I can find. They are entertaining, well written and clean. Please don’t ever change Angie.

Ohhhhh Frankie!. This is the 5th book in the Southern Ghost Hunter series by Angie Fox. They get better and better with each installment! In this one Frankie has set up a horse racing track on Verity's property and gotten himself in a pickle with another gangster. Of course his problem becomes Verity's problem, which of course she uses to bargain with him to help her investigate a murder at the Heritage House, a home for widows and orphans from the civil war, that is now a museum. And one that Virginia Wydell was the president of, until Verity's last case caused her some embarrassment. Now they find themselves working together to find out who the murderer is. And Frankie? What happens when a 1920's gangster ghost gets smitten with an innocent young ghost? You will have to read the book to find out. I loved this book from beginning to end. And nope, I didn't guess the murderer before they were outed. But that wasn't the only shocker in this book.. There were a few delightful twists along the way.

Fun, quirky southernish Ghost Whisper. Verity Long wants nothing more than to get her ghost consulting business up and running. She receives an eerie phone call from the Sugarland Heritage Society reporting a murder. Verity visits the historical building where the group hosts their meetings when the police find no hint of a crime. A distressed society president hires Verity to inconspicuously investigate the house’s strange nocturnal events. Things take a drastic turn for the worst when her client ends up dead, however, Verity refuses to give up on the job. Can Verity persuade the building’s resident ghosts to help her solve the murder? Or will her ghostly sidekick’s latest shenanigans cause Verity to be the next victim? Verity continues to amaze me with her steady progress in the supernatural. Sometimes she finds herself over her head, yet she tackles each obstacle in her own unique way. I love how Verity manages to remain the same upbeat and fun heroine I enjoyed from book one. I admire the lengths she is willing to take to remain with Ellis. Verity refuses to allow a certain waspish society matron to antagonize her; instead, she would rather remain neutral for her relationship’s sake. What I like the most about this story is that Verity learns something interesting about her own family line. Frankie the ghostly gangster pleasantly surprised me in this story. At first, he continues in his usual outrageous manner, but as the story progresses, Frankie starts to mature into the good person Verity always suspected him to be. I think he needed the right person in his afterlife to steer him in the right direction. I love that he finds such a person in this story. SWEET TEA AND SPIRITS is book five in Angie Fox’s bestselling series, SOUTHERN GHOST HUNTER MYSTERIES. The story can stand alone, however, to better understand Verity’s growth in the supernatural, it is necessary to read the books in order. I love seeing how Verity and Ellis’s relationship continues to progress in each book. I like that Ellis provides her with the legal limitations Verity has on each case. SWEET TEA AND SPIRITS is a perfect mixture of mystery and paranormal but southern style. I enjoy the light-hearted fun the author weaves in the story. Angie Fox never fails to entertain me with this series. I cannot wait for further shenanigans with Frankie, Verity and Ellis. Review courtesy of Romance Junkies

Love this series. Verity and Frankie are back for the Fifth book in the Southern Ghost Hunter Series. Verity receives a mysterious phone call sending her to the local historical museum. Angie Fox does an excellent job building a cast of characters that you want to get to know better. I love Lucy the skunk and she is one of my favorite pet in any book. I look forward to each new book to see Verity make friends with the most unusual characters. Though this book is in a series, I recommend it to anyone interested in a fun easy read. Can't wait for the next in the series. **I received a complementary of this book in exchange for an honest review. All thought/comments are my own.**

Another Great Ghost Story!. When'll Verity Long gets a phone call from a ghost claiming that a murder has taken place at the Sugarland Heritage Society at the same time that her boyfriend, Ellis, a police officer gets a call that a break in has occurred at the same place, the investigation kicks off. With the help of Frankie, the long dead mobster who's spirit is not only trapped on Verity's property but who allows her to see ghosts, they investigate not only the murder but some surprising town history. While the who dunnit isn't a big surprise, the story behind it has plenty of twists to keep the reader interested.

Nobody Is Perfect. I enjoyed this book very much! Verity and Ellis make a great team and his mother, Virginia, was actually a bit nice to Verity for a bit. This book shows that women have not always lived an easy life and had to do many things to survive in the past. Read and learn as Verity did about women in the past.

Sweet Tea & Spirits. This latest instalment of the Southern Spirits series is a lighthearted and fun adventure following Verity, her boyfriend Ellis and ghost buddy Frankie. I have enjoyed every book in this series and this was no exception. An easy to read romance that had me hooked from start to finish. Angie Fox is a talented author and I look forward to the next book in the series.

Awesom Paranormal Mystery. I love this series and once again the author has written a great page turner that you’ll not want to put down. Verity is a lovely Souther Girl who has been ostracised by the small towns wealthy socialites. So you can imagine their & her horror when Verity is invited to jopin their social group! LOL! AND, if thats wasnt enough Verity has to solve a murder, deal with her troublesome sidekick ghost Frankie, look after her adorable pet skukn Lucy, and find time for her hunky policeman boyfriend Ellis. All in a days work for a Southern Ghost Hunter!
