Final Girls by Riley Sager Book Summary

THE NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL BESTSELLER

“If you liked Gone Girl, you’ll like this.”—Stephen King

Ten years ago, six friends went on vacation. One made it out alive….

In that instant, college student Quincy Carpenter became a member of a very exclusive club—a group of survivors the press dubbed “The Final Girls”: Lisa, who lost nine sorority sisters to a college dropout's knife; Sam, who endured the Sack Man during her shift at the Nightlight Inn; and now Quincy, who ran bleeding through the woods to escape the massacre at Pine Cottage. Despite the media's attempts, the three girls have never met.

Now, Quincy is doing well—maybe even great, thanks to her Xanax prescription. She has a caring almost-fiancé; a popular baking blog; a beautiful apartment; and a therapeutic presence in Coop, the police officer who saved her life. Her mind won’t let her recall the events of that night; the past is in the past…until the first Final Girl is found dead in her bathtub and the second Final Girl appears on Quincy's doorstep.

Blowing through Quincy's life like a hurricane, Sam seems intent on making her relive the trauma of her ordeal. When disturbing details about Lisa's death emerge, Quincy desperately tries to unravel Sam's truths from her lies while evading both the police and bloodthirsty reporters. Quincy knows that in order to survive she has to remember what really happened at Pine Cottage.

Because the only thing worse than being a Final Girl is being a dead one.

Was on pace for a 5 star. For majority of book, it was a good read...anxious to continue reading to see what happens next. However, I feel like the ending was what hurt the book. It had what I like to call the three C’s...cheap, cheesy, and “convenient”...I definitely wasn’t shocked by it. I’m a firm believer that no matter how good a book is, if the ending is bad, you have no choice but to penalize the book because that is how everything is wrapped up.

I LOVED this book!. I LOVED this book! Sooo many twists and turns. I'd think I had the plot figured out and...BAM! plot twist to end all plot twists! So very well-written and just plain old riveting. This is in my top ten reads for 2018, for sure!

Decent read, but disappointing end. Final Girls was a good page turning thriller that had me questioning all of the characters, including our heroine, Quincy. However, I went into this book with really high expectations, having been praised by Stephen King as "the first great thriller of 2017", and was a little disappointed in the end. Things I loved: The plot. I loved that Quincy couldn't remember what happened to her the night her friends were all slaughtered. I loved the very idea of The Final Girls. I loved the depth of Quincy's character, how she coped with the aftermath of the massacre. I really enjoyed getting to see the full story of what happened to Quincy and her friends at the cabin in pieces scattered throughout the story. It was all very solid. Things I didn't care for: The ending. I mean, the ending itself was pretty awesome. But I expected a bigger twist. I had a theory that would have been epic, but it didn't happen that way. The ending is good, I see how it all tied up in the end, but I recently read Gone Girl and was expecting my mind to be blown. Unfortunately, it was not. So, do I recommend this one? Yes, because it was an enjoyable ride, even if the ending was a little more predictable than I would have preferred.

Incredible thriller!. This is the best book I’ve read, I finished it in 3 days because I couldn’t put it down. I will be recommending this to every single person I meet! All of the twists were totally shocking and so well written and thought out!! This book blew my mind and held my interest in a way no book has before!

Great Read. Exciting and suspenseful read! Hard to put down, I didn’t want it to end! Will recommend to friends and family!

Great read!. Great twists and turns and relatable characters, I loved this book! Hard to put down!

Page turner for sure. Thought I had it all figured out but nope! Didn’t see that final twist coming. Definitely recommend!

5 stars!. Riveting from start to finish!

So much potential! :(. Final Girls was exciting and deliciously puzzling ...until you arrived at the last 30 pages, which consisted of foreseeable blandness. I so desperately wanted to give this book 5 stars but the ending was like reading the script of a low budget horror film. Cringe.

Final girls. Amazing read!! Loved every minute of it. Read it in two days, couldn't put it down. Bravo!

What. The. Bleep.. I saw a TikTok recommending this book, and it caught my intrigue. Once I picked it up, I couldn’t put it down. It was enthralling, juicy, and left me wanting more. Just when I thought I had maybe figured it all out, BAM! A twist I would not have seen coming in a million years. I literally yelled out loud, “What the [expletive omitted]”. 100% picking up some more from Riley Sager. Absolutely amazing.

Page turner. Tense and original. Great vacation reading.

Good not great but extremely entertaining. Perfect book for fall and Halloween time, I had a hard time reading it at night- it got scary at some points! Riley Sager does a great job of writing suspense and building up to a big climax. I thought the end petered out a bit and tried too hard to have a twist, which ended up being a bit unbelievable. But for a juicy, entertaining read I thought that this book hit the spot. I recommended it to my friends and would recommend to you! If you're looking for a page turner and not the next Pulitzer, this book is for you.

Awesome read. Took me a chapter or two to get comfortable but once in I couldn’t put it down. Great story!

Love. This was a crazy ride and I enjoyed every moment

Great story. I really enjoyed reading this book. The twist was incredible and made me read non stop!!! I just wish the final could have more action! Still a great book!

A "can't put it down.". Held my attention with the likes of Coben and Connelly. Smoothly written and kept me guessing up to the end. Get a sample if you're unsure, you won't be disappointed.

Ok. So much potential that wanted to climax and failed. No development of the important enlightenments.

Awesome. You can’t stop reading.

Good plot, bad writing. I thought the plot for this story was thrilling and twisted, but difficult to enjoy because the writing was so poor. None of the conversations sounded like they were natural and it was generally badly written. Still worth the read for a chilling plot and good mystery.

Fun, easy read. Really fun, suspenseful mystery. I tore through this in just a couple days. You'll love it especially if you love the classic horror movies of the 80s.

4.5 Stars. This is my second thriller ever and I really enjoyed it. The story kept me interested right from the beginning. The middle and a couple of the flashbacks dragged a little bit but I was just ready for the answers. I didn’t see the twist coming which was great. It was a wild ride.

READ IT!!!. This book has so many shocking plot twist and is so good. I couldn’t put it down as soon as I started reading it.

Amazing. Honestly one of the best books 8 I had read in a really long time, it has so many twists and turns I was surprised every step of the way.

Excellent psychological thriller. Highly recommend for a good weekend read

Final Girl. Absolutely Riveting,Could not put it down,👍🏻

No Putting Down. This was a difficult book to put down after the 60 percent point. I highly recommend this book.

Kept me reading. Good story plenty of twists never saw coming

Mildly Predictable Yet a Blast of a Ride. I had my suspicions early on but I very much enjoyed the surprises this story ultimately takes you on. Watching the pieces come together was nothing short of fascinating. Well done!

You must not read ahead. A bit slow but wow what a curve ball..

A page turner!. A page turner!!! Seriously could not put this book down. I thought I had it figured out 2-3 times throughout the book but I ended up surprised! A very thrilling read

Enjoyable read!. At times was a bit predictable. But a fun summer read!

Good. Has a nice twist at the end

Final girls. Great read!
