Goaltending by Jami Davenport Book Summary

WANTED: Single dad needs nanny--In more ways than one.

Martin "Brick" Bricker is living the good life. He's playing the sport he loves, has all the women he can handle, and parties like a rock star.  At twenty-six, he has no interest in slowing down or taking anything seriously —except hockey, of course.

Then a knock at his door changes everything. Suddenly he's the single father to a five-year-old daughter he didn't know he had, and he's trading his playboy ways for Barbies.

Amelia Stacey struggles to make ends meet and juggles her day-care job with a full load of college classes. When she's offered a temporary, two-week nanny position making more money than she imagines, she jumps at the chance. Before she knows it, she's in over her head, not just with her five-year-old charge but with the girl's hot single father.

Brick always goes after what he wants, and he wants Amelia. Only responsible Amelia doesn't want anything to do with the party boy. Struggling with fatherhood and his unexplainable attraction to his nanny, Brick has to figure out where his daughter and Amelia fit into his life. If they fit at all.

But one thing's for sure: Brick can't block this shot straight to his heart.

Poor Sap. Love to hate him. I absolutely hated Brick when this story started. By the end of the book I felt sorry for the poor sap. Having read the other books in the series I have followed Brick as the guy who hates clothes and loves the cold. I learned why in this book and was surprised to say the least as to why he loves the cold. Jami delivered a book I couldn't put down even with life happening around me. Amelia and Macy were introduced in the this read. My heart hurt for Macy from the time Brick opened the door to her. Amelia is such a strong person to have kept this little clan together. Definitely going on my read again list! Thank you Jami for the hours of reading and enjoyment this book brought.

Sweet, sweet romance. You have to love the characters and their stories! And Macy is that extra ingredient that makes it all work! Enjoy!

Goaltending. Great read

Loved it!!!!. I received an advanced copy of this book for an honest review. This is the next book in the Seattle Sockeyes series. This book is about Martin “Brick” Bricker, the goalie. He is a fun-loving guy, no attachments, no commitments, just playing hockey and having fun. One afternoon all of that changes when he answers the door to “Daddy!!!”. Brick doesn’t have any kids, well not that he knows of anyway, but all of that changes today. Brick is now responsible for a 5-year-old little girl and has no clue what to do, he doesn’t even really like kids. He is pretty sure this is all a mistake, but he needs to go on a road trip so he hires an emergency nanny for while he is away. Amelia is a student who is working for her sister-in-law’s day care and agrees to help Brick out. I enjoyed Goaltending, it was a journey for Brick, to come to terms with the fact that he was a father and that he really wanted to be a dad. I liked watching Brick grow from a spoiled playboy into a man wanting to keep his family. I would recommend this book, if you read the series, you got a peek into some previous characters as well as a look into what is coming in the future.

Pretty good. I enjoyed this story. It was romantic and realistic. I wanted more at the end. That’s always a sign of a good romance story!

Boo. No not good

Heartwarming!. Amelia and Marty are characters that have human flaws and insecurities but overcome all obstacles. Wonderful story!

Goaltending. Great read! So enjoyed the characters, their families. The heartache was well described. Good one! Laraine

Loved It. Wow! Jami did it again. What happens when you become an insta dad? You get a nanny of course! Watching Brick, Amelia, and Macy navigate their new world was amazing. There was a lot of emotion for each party as well as healing. A story filled with family, healing, passion, and love. A great addition to the series.

Self centered to family centered. Brick starts out a rich douche bag. Life comes back to bite him in the butt, and force hm to grow up. He realized what really matters and goes full throttle to get it back. This is a good love story. Would recommend this to others!

Sexy & Sweet!. Score! Fantastic read! Goaltending is funny, heartwarming and hot! Between a hot as hell hunk with all the moves that don't quit and a smart witty, beautiful nanny, and a five year old precocious daughter who turn his world upside down this book will keep you glued to the pages. Couldn't put it down. Martin "Brick" Bricker was one lucky guy, he had it all. Good looks, ripped body, more money than he could spend and more woman then he could handle. It was great to be him! As the starting goalie for the Seattle Sockeyes, and known as the party boy life was good. But when he opens up his front door to find a little girl staring at him with dark hair and huge brown eyes and a note telling him that she was his daughter, his fast paced life is about to change. He wasn't father material! Amelia Stacey works part-time at her sister-in-law's day care, it came with an apartment as part of her salary and with her part-time hours she could continue her college classes. When A drop dead gorgeous hunk of a man comes in to the day care looking for a temporary nanny for his five year old daughter she takes the job. The good money she earned would help pay for next quarters tuition. But with a sexy hunk putting out all the moves in his repertoire to get her in his bed, and a beautiful little girl that has lost so much in her five years, will she be able to walk away in two weeks unscathed. Will Brick prove to be father material? Will Amelia let down her guard long enough to fall? Will Brick find something he never knew he needed? You won't want to put this down, as you find out the answers to these questions. Loved it! Don't pass this one up get it now! Received a ARC through L. Woods PR and voluntarily wrote an honest review.

Such an adorable book!. A big time player meets his match when he's suddenly answering to Daddy! The adorable creation of this little family carries the story easily. Well developed characters, lots of family drama and an adorable kid we instantly fall in love with! Martin "Brick" Bricker is living the good life when it all comes tumbling at his feet with one knock at the door. He's suddenly a father to to a five year old that he knew nothing about, and his partying days are over! Amelia Stacey is working hard to make ends meet while attending a full schedule at college. She can't stand a player, but she can't resist the money he's offering when Brick wants to hire her to be his daughter's temporary nanny. He's hot, but she can resist temptation ... no problem!

Loved it!. This story was amazing. I love the Seattle series books by Jami. The books in this series keeps getting better. A single mid twenties play boy becomes a single father in an instant and needs a nanny. He gets more than he bargained for when he hires Amelia to be a nanny to his 5 year old daughter Macy. Macy's story will make you cry. I loved this story and recommend it to everyone. *I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review*

Loved It. 5 star Review Goaltending: Seattle Sockeyes Hockey (Game On In Seattle #8) by Jami Davenport This is book 8 in the series and another winner for Jami Davenport in my humble opinion. What's a guy to do when he opens his door and finds a 5 year old girl unaccompanied on his doorstep with a note in her hand and her calling him Daddy? That's the position that Martin "Brick" Bricker suddenly finds himself in. The goalie for the Sockeyes Hockey Team he certainly lives a life of wild partying. The last thing he needs or wants is to find himself suddenly the father of a 5 year old daughter Macy. I will admit that I wasn't very keen on "Brick" at first, but he certainly turned himself around and I eventually got over my initial dislike of him.  Amelia Stacey is studying as well as holding down a job with a day care centre, not far from Brick's place. When he visits the centre in hopes of getting assistance with his sudden charge, Amelia sees a chance to make life a little easier with her financial struggles and promptly agrees to be a temporary nanny to Macy whilst Brick is away. The only complication is Amelia finds herself wildly attracted to Brick. Even worse, he has decided that she is what he wants and what Brick wants, he gets.  Brick is an arrogant jerk at first and not at all likeable. Slowly he changes and as his relationship grows with Macy, he finally redeems himself. The building of the relationship with Macy had me laughing at times, their banter was so funny. For such a little girl, my heart just broke for all that she had been through and I was so relieved when Brick stood up and became the father she so desperately needed and wanted.  This was more a story of growing relationships and love, in various forms and I liked that Brick and Amelia, although involved spent a great deal of time making sure that Macy was secure. Don't get me wrong they certainly had there fair share of hot and heavy moments but Ms.Davenport did not concentrate on that angle alone. I will certainly be reading more from this series as soon as I can.

Perfect Addition to a Great Series. This is book 8 in the Seattle Sockeyes Hockey Series but you don't have to have read the other books in this series to enjoy this one, each book is about a different player and this is goalie Martin "Brick" Bricker's story. Brick lives the good life, he is only 26 very hot and loves his party lifestyle there is no room for commitment that is until one morning a knock at his door finds a beautiful 5 year girl with a note saying he is her daddy and she has no other family. What do you do when you have no idea where she came from, well you start off calling your agent who suggests you get a nanny until it can be sorted out and by sorted out I mean a DNA test. Enter Amelia Stacy who is struggling to make ends meet and juggling her college classes along with her day-care job, when Brick offers her a two week live in job it seems like the perfect solution to her problems. The problem is what happens when she not only falls for the gorgeous Macy she starts to fall for the very hot Brick as well ...... I have to be honest Brick is not very likeable at the start of this book but as the story moves on you see him growing into the perfect father for the adorable, funny and at times sassy 5 year old. Macy has some great one liners and Amelia is never slow to put Brick in his place. This is a perfect all round read, it's sad at times and at times you will laugh out loud. Once again Jami Davenport has given us yet another great addition to The Seattle Sockeye family that I have grown to love.

Love it. Best book I have read in a long time . Made me laugh cry and even get angry but still couldn’t put it down ...

Very good. I love Jami Davenport, her books always make me feel good when I'm done reading them. She takes us on a ride that spans many emotions, like this book has. Arrogant, cocky party boy Marty is finally brought down by a little girl, a daughter he never knew existed. Amelia is sweet, beautiful, quick witted & loves kids. She's hired by Marty to look after his daughter until he can make his mom see the need for her to raise his daughter for him. Party boy doesn't want to give up his life but Amelia isn't letting him off the hook. We see Marty grow & fall in love with not 1 female but 2, even though he doesn't know it. We hear about Amelia's tragic past experience & her hidden secret & we hear about little Macy's mother & how much she's recently lost. The journey of healing starts with the smile of 1 little girl & the constant support from a strong willed woman & the love from a man not used to loving anyone but himself. Definitely recommend this book.
