Best developed characters and plot in this series. This was a much more complex story than the last three, with the other two each improving on the first. There is still the lack of Regency research, too many modern Americanisms in narrative and speech, leaving me with the feeling this could have been set much later in the 19th century, up until the late 1950s. One example that irritated me in this series, was that the amount of money bet, spent, invested, acquired, or inherited are off by a factor of ten to one-hundred. Because of these issues, I won’t be reading any of her other novels. The copy editor in me gets hauled out way too often to enjoy reading her work.

Amazing book. I loved this book a lot but one thing I will say is that it happened kinda fast. That’s the only reason I gave it 4 stars but if I could I’d give it 4 1/2. 👏👏👏👏
