You Say It First by Susan Mallery Book Summary

“Romance novels don’t get much better than Mallery’s expert blend of emotional nuance, humor and superb storytelling.” —Booklist

The #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Fool’s Gold romances invites you to visit Happily Inc, a wedding destination founded on a fairy tale!

Sculptor Nick Mitchell grew up in a family of artists and learned from his volatile father that passion only leads to pain. As he waits on a new commission, he takes a day job as a humble carpenter at a theme wedding venue. The job has its perks—mainly the venue’s captivating owner, Pallas Saunders.

Pallas adores Weddings in a Box. But if she can’t turn the floundering business around, she’ll have no choice but to cave to her domineering mother and work at the family’s bank. Then when a desperate bride begs Pallas for something completely out of the box, her irresistible new hire inspires her. Nick knows she doesn’t belong behind a desk, and she knows in her heart that he’s right—where she really belongs is in his arms.

Don’t miss the next book in the Happily Inc series, Second Chance Girl!

Happily Inc begins. The first book in Susan Mallery’s new Happily Inc series, You Say It First, picks right up where Fools Gold left off. After the big blowout with their father, Nick, Ronan, and Mathias Mitchell relocated to the small town in the California desert known for weddings. This give us a chance to see Nick get his own HEA; I’m sure the other two will soon follow. At the same time, it gives Mallery a whole new canvas to play with. Visitors to Fools Gold will find some similarities to their favorite town, while new visitors will fit right in. The new cast of characters are fun and interesting. Pallas, Nick’s girl, is a fun way to start. She and Nick push each other out of their comfort zone and together they are far more successful than they are apart. The whole town is built on the idea of weddings, so it is fun to see Mallery’s imagination at work as Pallas plans them. The alien wedding is so over the top, yet completely amazing. I really wish there were pictures included. I always enjoy summer visits to Mallery’s towns and this is no exception. I can’t wait to see this series go forward. It has the makings of another Fools Gold. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this novel.

Uplifting & Well-Written. Love shouldn’t be conditional, but it often is. Pallas was taught from childhood, that love was only given, when earned. So, she spent a lifetime trying unsuccessfully to gain her mother’s love and approval. In her mother’s eyes, Pallas’s business, Wedding In A Box, was just another failure. And, to be honest, Pallas was toying with the idea of selling it. But, that was before Nick Mitchell showed up in her life. Nick encouraged and assisted Pallas to develop her creativity. Although Nick and Pallas became close, he made it clear that when he left, in a couple of months, their relationship would end. Pallas’s biggest challenge, she feared, would be, keeping her heart from being crushed. Nick Mitchell loved creating beautiful sculptures. He would finger a piece of wood until his intuition told him what to create. If he listened, the wood in his hand would become, a prized piece of art. Nick’s artistic talent came from his father; his selfish, world renowned, famous father. And the last thing Nick wanted, was to become like him. His father put his artistic passion above everybody and everything else and Nick; unfortunately, felt himself becoming like his father. Nick decided the best thing for him to do was to guard against falling in love, at all costs. He just hoped that it wasn’t already too late for him. I found You Say It First, to be a beautiful, uplifting, and well-told story. Thank you, Harlequin and NetGalley, for my advanced review copy! I loved it.

Happily Inc. makes me happy.... "You say it First" is #1 in a brand new series, Happily Inc. It is a great read to kick off the series. i was sad when the Fool's Gold series finally came to an end, but Happily Inc. has undertones of the latter, such as quirky, lovable, characters and a giraffe. I loved Nick and Pallas and the dynamics of their relationship. A definite page turner that I did not want to end. Well done, well done, Susan Mallery!

You Say it First. I loved this first book in the Happily, Inc series. It's classic Susan Mallery, but I think gets deeper into family issues. It ties back to Fools Gold through the Mitchell family, but being a destination wedding town gives it a whole new twist. And then there's the game preserve and Millie the giraffe!

I'll say it.....yes!. Welcome to Happily inc. This starts where Susan's Fool's Gold left off and if you loved that town and series as much as I did then it's a no-brainer to buy this book. The first installment of this new series showcases Pallas and Nick as they work through their childhood and family issues. We also get to know this new town and people with all the little quirks that we've come to love from this author. There are a lot of singles in this story so expect several book from this series (

You Say it First. I love books about creative businesses! Only things I felt were missing were more in-depth knowledge of the main characters’ personalities. Very sweet book!

You Say It First. A great read! I love this series and can't wait for the next!

The start of a new series. The Queen of destination books has done it again. Welcome to Happily Inc, a desert town known for weddings with an eclectic mixture of characters. You Say It First is the story of sculptor Nick Mitchell (of the Fool's Gold Mitchells) and wedding venue owner Pallas Saunders; both have family demons to deal with, along with life questions. As a fan of Susan Mallery's Fool's Gold series I was excited to read her new series and I wasn't disappointed. It's nice to know when you start a book that you will see the characters again in future books as each one gets their own story. I can't wait to read more about Happily Inc.

Take 3 brothers from the Fool’s Gold series and relocate them to a little town known as a wedding de. Take 3 brothers from the Fool’s Gold series and relocate them to a little town known as a wedding destination and watch the sparks fly! Pallas Saunders runs Weddings in a Box, a wedding planning service that specializes in out of the box, outrageously fun weddings. She loves her work, her shop and even the town, and with her cadre of girlfriends Carol, Violet, Natalie, Silver, and Wynn. Fortunately for Pallas, they are always in her corner and bring support, laughs (lots of those) and fun. And Pallas needs that with a mother like Libby – a truly despicable character that even defied the attempts to redeem her by HER OWN Father! But, that’s another story (and character) who perhaps will find some moments to lessen the distaste when she enters the room. Personally, once Pallas got into her groove and the weddings started to roll, her true enjoyment of love and celebrating it (for others, never herself) was palpable. And, you have to love the interview style! Nick Mitchell is a sculptor, with his own issues and struggles with his own family. His brothers Ronan and Mathias have already relocated to Happily Inc, and after a big blowout with their father, Nick decides to join them after hearing how much they enjoy the little town. Nick is waiting on a big commission that will take him to Dubai for a couple of years while the piece is created and installed, and he’s not one for just sitting around. Taking a job with Weddings in a Box as the carpenter while he waits seems logical and not stressful. Unlike his growing up or the big fight with his brothers that nearly tore them all apart where the bond between Ronan and Nick finally started to be repaired. But neither Pallas nor Nick is particularly interested in commitment or relationships for themselves – although the scent of weddings and all of that love in the air did start to work its magic on them. But, with their own histories and bad luck with close relationships, their own caution added to the slow build into a fire of the ages with this romance. And, being as crazy-good at the weird, remarkable and everything shiny for her clients, Pallas has seen it all – but would Nick’s surprise for her be too much or just right? A lovely story full of drama, feelings, history, friends laughs and heart, keeping the feel of the Fool’s Gold series that is so beloved but giving the characters, both new and familiar, a place to grow and thrive. I received an eArc copy of the title from the publisher via Edelweiss for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

Made me Happy. I was a bit sad when the Fools Gold Series came to a close. I felt it was a sweet little sleepy town - with tons of festivals - that I could actually live in were it not fictional. Well, I honestly think Ms Mallory has captured me with this first book in the new Happily Inc series!! The characters are perfect, Weddings in a Box! So creative!!! Read the book, I promise you are sure to enjoy it!

An Awesome Start to a New Series!!. An awesome start to a new series. After reading the first sentence I was hooked. Loving this new town of Happily Inc, a town of wedding destinations and happily ever afters. In this story we meet Pallas, owner of Weddings in a Box and Nick, a sculptor, who is looking for temporary work until his next big job. Neither were looking for a lasting relationship but temporary would be ok. Pallas has learned that love comes with certain conditions that need to be met. The perfect line from the book, "If you can dream it, we can make it happen". This is true with Pallas's wedding destinations along with her relationship with Nick. It was great to see familiar names from Fool's Gold, especially since Nick was originally from there. Love the zoo, with Millie the giraffe and other animals. Loved the board game night, such great times. This book will leave you smiling and laughing out loud. Looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

Fun, refreshing romantic comedy. I LOVE everything by Susan Mallery and You Say It First is certainly no exception. The first book in the Happily, Inc. Series does not disappoint. It has all of the feels, wit, charm and romance we've come to love from Mallery. Along with fantastic characters and a great legend of how the town was started. There are even references from Fools Gold. I loved this refreshing, fun, romantic comedy that is only the beginning of what's to come for Happily Inc.

You Say It First. Cute cute cute!! You Say it First is a great read & an entertaining begining to a new series . This book takes place in a unique little town called Happily Inc with folks that have moved from Fool Gold (another great series by Susan Mallery) I enjoyed the characters & look forward to the next book in the series. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.

Book 1 of Happily Inc. 3 1/2 STARS! Weddings in a small town! It was definitely a slow start with Susan Mallery's kick-off to her new Happily Inc series. The town is quirky and the characters have potential but it kind of felt like we were fed too much info on many of them just to lay the groundwork for the series and it overshadowed the ability of the main characters to catch my attention. They were cute together, and by the end I was hoping for a happy ending, but they didn't grab me and reel me in like I wanted them to. If you're a fan of Mallery's small town life, you'll probably still enjoy the book, but it might not snare you as easily as some have in the past. I'm hoping for more connection and depth when I dig into book two!   Pallas Saunders had big dreams for her life, but it hasn't turned out anything like she imagined ... and she's not so sure that it's a bad thing! She's enjoying her newfound freedom running a themed wedding venue, but it's not taking off as fast as she had hoped. If she doesn't soon start to bring in some money, she may be caving to her demanding mother's wish for her to come work at the family's bank. World-renowned artist Nick Mitchell has a big commission on the horizon, so he's not looking to start some big job right now, so he finds himself answering an ad for some carpentry work at Pallas's wedding venue. He ends up working on a project that he really enjoys and he can't help but indulge himself with Pallas's company as often as he can as well. He's not looking for a relationship, but some temporary companionship could be nice!

You Say It First. This is the first book in the Happily, Inc series. It takes the three Mitchell brothers in a new setting. Nick meets Pallas when he interviews for a job as a part time carpenter. She immediately has him dressing in a toga and putting on a fake tan. This starts slowly, but eventually ends as a typical romance. But both bring out wonderful qualities in each other.

Happily Inc is a hit!. Happily Inc and the Mitchell brothers is a hit! Who wouldn't want to go to Happily Inc.? It's a charming little town complete with its own giraffe Millie and zebras. It's the perfect counterpart to fools gold. With the Mitchell brothers settling into this lovely town, Nick has some time to kill while waiting to find out if he gets a commission in Dubai. He answers an ad to work on some wood panels at a struggling weddings in a box company. What he finds is he is challenged by many different media to help make a brides dream wedding come true. What Pallas, Nick and her friends put together is an event that changes of their lives. As Mitchell brothers work through family issues, Happily Inc is the perfect location! I can't wait for the second, third and many many more books to come!

Another great series!. Susan Mallory, has a hit with her new book You Say It First! This is the first book in her new series set in Happily Inc. If you have read and enjoyed Susan's Fools Gold series I think you will enjoy this new town. The town is Fun and quirky with lots of interesting characters. The story is based on Pallas, owner of a business that puts together themed weddings, and Nick a world famous artist just spending a few months in town. It is fun to watch them grow and change and challenge some long standing beliefs. We also see family relationships and friendships and the drama and happiness both bring. A great story can't wait for the next book!

Welcome to Happily Inc!. Happily Inc reminds me so much of Fools Gold, Susan brings in things and people from Fools Gold but it is freshing to have new characters to explore. Pallas and Nick both don't live up to their parents expectations but are both happy and satisfied in their lives. Nick pushes Pallas to leave her comfort zone a little but and take some risks which helps her grow as well as their relationship. I can't wait to see what else happens in Happily Inc!

Welcome to Happily Inc!. `Disclaimer: I was sent a free copy of this book, in return for my honest review. You Say It First by Susan Mallery introduces us to the town of Happily Inc located in the Nevada desert. We are introduced to this town through Nick a transplant from Fools Gold, CA. Nick meets Pallas when he interviews to work for her at her wedding destination company. Nick doesn't believe in long term relationships and Pallas isn't sure she wants a relationship at all, in spite of this these two find themselves drawn to each other. Will they over come their preconceived notions on love and relationships and find a way to be together? I loved the Fools Gold series and was sad to see it go, but I am happy to see the Happily Inc is here. While a different town, it has it's own charms and distinct personality. If you are a fan of Mallery's work and the Fools Gold series in particular you will enjoy this book. I personally cannot wait for the next book in this series!

Happily Inc. A very cute and light read. If you like the Fools Gold series this is a fun, comfortable continuation in a different town.
