Ain't He Precious? by Sawyer Bennett Book Summary

Welcome to Whynot, North Carolina, population 3,872. It has one stoplight, one bar, and the one-and-only Trixie Mancinkus.

Eleven years ago, Trixie graduated Harvard Law, turned down a job offer from one of the most prestigious law firms in Boston, and headed home to Whynot to open her own firm. Not only did she leave behind the big city, but she also left her boyfriend of three years. And just so we’re clear… that would be me.

So what am I doing in Whynot at this very moment? It seems Trixie needs help with a legal case and for some insane reason, she called on me for assistance. I’ve been in town for five minutes, and I’m every bit as out of place as I feel. Trixie is all sweet, southern curves to my tailored suits and high-priced haircuts. It’s a culture clash of north versus south and about the only thing we have in common is our physical attraction to each other.

But I have a new motto since coming to Whynot: When life hands you lemons, all you need is a little sex and sweet tea to make things better.

So Very Entertaining. This book had me laughing. It truly is a well written book by Juliette Poe. If you are looking for a book with charm, snarky comebacks, love and family this is the book to read.

Fun and Entertaining Read! ❤️. Ain't He Precious? was such a fun, entertaining, and lighthearted read! It's on the shorter side, but this second chance romance was just what I was looking for after reading some heavier books. Trixie and Ryland have been apart for eleven years, after dating for 3 years through law school. They had made plans to spend the rest of their lives together, when suddenly those plans changed, leaving Ryland in Boston, Massachusetts and Trixie in Whynot, North Carolina. They've moved on with their lives, but when a legal case brings the two of them together again in Whynot, it's clear that their chemistry is just as scorching and powerful as it was all those years ago. I loved how these two reconnected and Ry got some good old southern hospitality from the town and Trixie's family. The story is told from both character's points of view, and I especially enjoyed Ry's fish out of water monologue. Both Ry and Trixie are such strong, intelligent, and caring people, and the low angst of this romance was perfect. The secondary characters in the story were just as fun, especially Pap. I love that he's a straight shooter and I imagine it would be very fun to shoot the breeze with him. I enjoyed this quick and amusing romance and can't wait for more from Juliette Poe! What a wonderful start to the series! *I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this book*

Southern Girl and Big City Boy. “Nothing worth having doesn’t come without some measure of sacrifice.” 11 years ago, Trixie Mancinkus and Ryland Powers weren’t ready or willing to surrender who they were and what they wanted as individuals, so they ended a three-year relationship and never looked back…at least that’s what they attempted to do, but now that Trixie has asked for Ryland’s help with a case, their past feelings resurface and the passionate connection they once shared has brought them to a crossroad, once again, and hopefully this time, they can find a way to be together or at least get the closure they need to move forward without dwelling on what might have been all those years ago. Ain’t He Precious brings southern living and southern hospitality to the forefront of readers’ minds, and it illustrates the truly special bond that exists between a southerner and his/her small town community and slow-paced lifestyle. The setting of WhyNot, North Carolina, is just as integral a character as Trixie and Ryland are because through the charming environment that Ryland experiences when he leaves his big city living to lend Trixie a hand, he begins to understand why Trixie felt compelled to leave the life she and Ryland had created in Boston and go back to the place that holds her heart just as much as Ryland did. Through their time together, Trixie and Ryland realize that they shouldn't have been so hasty in giving up their forever simply because they weren't willing to compromise what they wanted all those years ago, and while those same obstacles seem to stand in their way now, perhaps they'll understand just how precious the love they share is and they'll figure out a way to have their job and each other because having one without the other is really not an option anymore. Trixie and Ryland's story has the perfect blend of drama and steam. It's a feel good book that illustrates just how precious second chances are and it also proves why a southern girl is willing to sacrifice a good life and a man she loves for what her hometown and the people who live there do for her heart and soul. I adored this story and Pap Mancinkus' insights and advice made a great story even better because his wisdom and his love for Trixie and his family proves just how easy it is for a Yankee to find his place in the South. 4.5 Poison Apples (The Fairest of All Book Reviews)

Cute!. If you’re looking for hot n dirty this isn’t it. If you like funny, creative second chances this IS for you. Nothing overly dramatic. Just food for the soul kind of read.

A+. Such a good book! Couldn’t put it down. Can not wait to read the next in the series.

Ain't He Precious ....BY Juliette Poe. I enjoyed reading the story. There are many passages I noted down to keep in my Log book, they're worth like a bright advice to hold on. I hope I Can have the next story in my ebook..for free. More power to the author! Evangelina

Ain't he precious?. Really enjoyed her writing style and story.👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

Loved it! 👍. Funny, romantic story with great supporting characters. There is nothing better than discovering a good book that truly surprises when it sneaks up and grabs your heart. Ryland and Trixie’s second-time-around romance is hot, funny and sweet. Sawyer Bennett does not disappoint.

Ain’t He Precious. A short, cute, sweet story. If you are looking for hot and steamy this is not it. However it is refreshing to read a book that’s not too intense or dark. Really an uplifting story of rekindled lost love.

Fun, sweet novella!!. **Received an ARC for a fair and honest review** This is the first book in the Sex and Sweet Tea series, a new series by Juliette Poe aka Sawyer Bennett. If you are looking for all the hot steaminess of Sawyer Bennett's typical books, this is not like that. This is a sweet fun little novella, the characters had a relationship previously and had been apart for 11 years. Trixie Mancinkus and Ryland Powers met in law school and were planning a life together when Trixie decided to up and leave to go back home to Whynot, NC. While they both moved on with their lives, they never really got over each other. When Trixie needs help on a case she calls Ryland and asks for his help and he's quick to go and help her. Ryland is not prepared for a little podunk town like Whynot and is used to his upscale life that working for a prestigious firm allows him. When Ryland helps Trixie out on a separate unplanned case, he is reminded of why he got into law in the first place and how much he enjoys it. But can he really resist the draw especially when he never got over Trixie. There were a couple things that caused me to give this book a four instead of a five star review. First the ending felt rushed and just sort of stopped. I felt like it needed more and that was frustrating for me. Also, they talk about the case that he comes down to help her with, but it just fell flat and was glossed over. The story was already with established characters which helped since there wasn't a strong plot for the story. It's a good start to the series though and I am looking forward to reading Lowe's book next. Given an ARC for a fair and honest review. Happy Reading!!

An Afternoon Escape. Pour yourself a glass of sweet tea, oil the porch swing and indulge in a lazy afternoon with this sweet, quick read. Ain’t He Precious is as sweet and delightful as southern sweet tea. Just like you can’t resist another sip of a quenching sweet tea you can’t resist turning page after page delighting in this story of love and loyalty. Fun and lighthearted, Juliette Poe brings the characters to life, a crazy life that made me want to find Whynot, NC sit in Chesty’s with a cold brew; soak up the south, hoping for a glimpse of Pap, Trixie, Ryland or any of the other colorful folks that wormed their way into my heart.

Sawyer can do better. Boring

Ain't he precious?. Loved it! I will be watching for more Of your books but sadly they will have to be free ones. Retired and on fixed income but love to read especially by authors like you.

“Ain’t he precious “ by Sawyer Bennett. A fun, simple light read about a second chance romance. Loved the characters , the southern small town charm and am looking forward to the next story in the series!

Perfectly pleasant, sweet and sassy southern read. Disclaimer: ARC received in exchange for an honest review With this new novel, Ain't He Precious, Sawyer Bennett assumes the pen name Juliette Poe for the debut installment in her new "Sex and Sweet Tea" series. Although more sweet tea than sex, Ain't He Precious is just that... precious. It's a perfectly pleasant, ridiculously refreshing, utterly delightful, sweet and sassy read. Female lead Trixie is a spitfire. She's the perfect dichotomy: strong but soft, brazen yet bewitching, audacious and unassuming. Poe created this brilliantly strong, big-hearted protagonist who's true to herself, and the dreamboat of man who loves her and embraces the whole package. Ryland is the perfect man -- this is no exaggeration -- and one of the strengths of the story is the depth and the maturity that categorizes Trixie and Ry's relationship. It's so nice to read a book with smart, intelligent adults who communicate and talk through their issues. Additionally, Poe crafts the most charming southern small town chock full of a quirky, colorful cast of characters, and fostering a warm, welcoming, hospitable environment for both her Yankee transplants and readers. With a narrating assist from Trixie's cantankerous grandpap, the story is told in alternating perspectives, but tends to be heavy on the exposition. The story occasionally seems to be more talk than action, with much of the action being relayed verbally by the narrators or through dialogue. Also, much of the intimacy between Trixie and Ry is implied, with the sexual relationship taking a backseat. There is definitely chemistry and tension in Trixie and Ry's relationship, which drives the story and engages the reader, but the lack of specifics creates a more mature tone. There's heat, but not as much sizzle. Despite that though, Ain't He Precious is a heartwarmingly easy and easygoing read that I resoundingly recommend.

Southern Charm at its Best!!. Grab you a big ol' glass of sweet tea, sit back and enjoy this southern charm! This little number has all the style and grace that you love about the South. From the tables piled with food to the small town living where everyone knows your business. That is what Tixie loves about the small town of Whynot, NC that she grew up in. She left the big town and turned down the prestigious job to move back to her roots. Now, she is working on a case that she needs help with and the only person that she knows can help with it is the one person she has never been able to forget. Ry, moved on with his life and is making a name for himself as a partner at a law firm in Boston. Tixie and Ry are pretty much just going about their everyday routine but each feels like something in missing. So, sit back in your rocking chair and enjoy the cool breeze and the hometown feel. I can't wait to read about the troubles that Lowe is about to get in!!

Loved it!. 5 Stars Ain't He Precious by Juliette Poe is the first novella in the Sex and Sweet Tea series. It is a second chance romance and it was so so good! It was sweet, charming, and had me laughing out loud. Trixie and Ry have known each other since college. They both attended Harvard Law and had amazing chemistry. With being in a relationship for a few years, they started making plans for the future. But you know what they say about best laid plans… Fast forward to over a decade later, Trixie needs Ry’s help with a case. And with Ry being Ry he goes to help her. But what happens when they lay eyes on each other and it resurfaces feelings that they both thought were gone? You'll just have to read it to find out! I love everything Sawyer Bennett and to be honest, I was unsure if seeing her sweeter side come out with Juliette Poe was going to be for me. Boy am I glad to say I was completely wrong to even think it. The chemistry between Trixie and Ry was beautiful and the storyline was amazing! It flowed well and I seriously could not put it down! I cannot wait to read what's next!

Southern Charm. I'm a huge Sawyer Bennett fan so of course I jumped at the chance to read her new book under her pen name Juliette Poe. This was a nice change from her other books, still the same witty type of characters but definitely full of sweet tea. I adored seeing the lawyer aspect of this book come into play and that the two main characters, Ryland and Trixie have history. The strong family ties for Trixie bring her back to her hometown to practice law comes through throughout this book with all the encounters. Her relationship with her grandfather, Pap, is such an amazing portrayal of the close knit family. The story revolves around a case that Trixie has that she brings in Ryland to help with. From there the sparks begin to reignite between these two and the book takes you through them building up that relationship to see if it is strong enough to make it last this time. Can't wait to read more of Juliette Poe!

Loved It!!. Love all of Sawyer Bennett's books and was super excited to read a new novel penned by her alter ego- Juliette Poe! I LOVED this book! The characters were endearing and the relationship between Ry and Trixie was believable and charming! I couldn't put it down! Ryland and Trixie reunite after ending their college relationship 11 years prior. Their attraction hasn't waned and their banter was fun. What I loved most about this story is that it centered on appreciation of what matters most in life and was an incredibly sweet romantic story. Trixie is a confident woman and Ry is a true gentleman, two things that were a nice change from the normal genre I read. Loved Pap...he's the Grandpa everyone wants to have! The other supporting characters were developed enough to enjoy their contributions to Ry & Trixie's story. I am anxious to learn more about the siblings and to follow their adventures in finding love in upcoming books in the series! If you are looking for a book about second changes or about a true love that was never lost, then this is the book for you. I promise you will not be disappointed!! *I was fortunate enough to receive an ARC in exchange for an honest review*

Reminded me of old-school Nora Roberts and Julie Garwood. Sweet Read!. Okay, so this might tell my age, but when I first fell in love with reading romances, it was with Julie Garwood and old- school Nora Robert’s. Books that told great tales of wonderful family relationships, well-rounded characters and stories that made me grin, laugh out loud and feel- oh the sweet, happy feels! You know the type of story I’m talking about- the one that when you are done, you can’t wait to see/learn more of the ENTIRE family – the story that sticks with you long after you are finished. Ain’t He Precious is just that type of story. Yes, it’s sweet and short, but the entire time I read it, I couldn’t stop the silly grin on my face. I really loved reading every minute of it. And I know I’ll be re-reading it over and over again. The story is of two lawyers who were together in law school, but decided to go their separate ways when they realized they wanted different things in their career. Cue to 11 years later and Trixie is asking Ry to come visit her and help her with a case. So Ry drops what he’s doing and comes to WhyNot, North Carolina to help Trixie out. The story includes so much fun with Ry learning about the south, a wonderful meddling Pap Mancinkus, a slightly over protective Dad and well… it’s just so much fun! The best part was it wasn’t over the top kooky or forced like some books are. Juliette Poe (aka Sawyer Bennett) really did an awesome job in making it fun, a little crazy, but realistic. I’m not from the South, but I could just imagine life in WhyNot. For a novella (which I usually avoid), the characters were really developed. I quickly fell for Ry and Trixie and I now have the hugest crush on her Pap Mancinkus! I just know we’ll be hearing more from him in the future stories!! Ain’t He Precious is a wonderful and sweet novella that’s so worth the read. It’s a guarantee pick-me-up and make-me-smile book! Enjoy the read – I sure did! I received an Advanced Reader Copy of this novella. I am voluntarily and freely providing an honest review.

Sex and Sweet Tea. What a lovely fresh read from new author Juliette Poe. Ryland and Trixie go to law school together and due to priorities at the time they go their separate ways. As luck would have it life's twists and turns lead them back in to each other's lives. They ultimately decide with the guidance of an awesomely wise grandfather of Trixie's that they do belong together. Life is about lessons learned and reorganizing priorities. The author takes the reader on a lovely trip through this young couples lives and experiences in this small lovely town. Hope you enjoy!

Ain't He Precious. First time reading this author by either name. Loved the book, loved her writing. Charming story line, great characters ! I will be looking at all her books for future reading.

Fabulous debut for Poe!!!. What a debut book for author Juliette Poe. Ain’t He Precious for me anyway has it ALL!! Small town romance, second chance love, and a spectacular HEA!!! Trixie Mancinkus and Ryland Powers fell in love while attending Harvard Law School, both were top of their class. Both had been slated to work for one of the top law offices in Boston and planning their future. Then, Trixie did the unthinkable, she moved back home to Whynot, North Carolina, leaving Ryland broken hearted. Whynot, North Carolina was the place where Trixie grew up, where her family still lived. The place where she opened her own law offices. The place where she invited Ry to come after graduation, but he refused and stayed in Boston. Now, eleven years later, Trixie needs help with a case, and she thinks of Ry, the man, and the love she never forgot. When Ry arrives in Whynot, and sees Trixie again, the love he had for her starts to resurface. He begins to see why this town means so much to Trixie. While talking to Pap, Trixie’s grandfather, she begins to see the biggest mistake she has ever made and… Stop, no spoilers. Let me say this, you will love what happens here. I absolutely loved this book and watching Ry and Trixie realize how much they still loved each other. I loved the interaction between the characters both primary and secondary. I loved the writing of Ms. Poe. Her writing reminds me of another writer, Sawyer Bennett. There is a reason for this, a very big reason…. They are one in the same. This is Ms. Bennett’s “sweet side” as she describes it. If you like Ms. Bennett’s writing, and sweet romance, as well as HOT, you will love this book! I know I did!! Kudos Ms. Poe/Bennett on another fantastic journey into romance. I was gifted with a copy of this wonderful book for my honest opinion. Thank you for reading my review. ❤

LOVED it!. I absolutely loved this book. It also hit spot on to the way it is in the south, which is not surprising. Ry is amazing at the beginning for dropping everything to help Trixie, but I fell even more in love with him by the end. I highly recommend reading this book. I'm already a big fan of Sawyer Bennett and I have to say her alter-ego, although a bit cleaner, did not disappoint!

O. M. G.!!!. This book was intense and exciting. It was an amazing read that had me, a non reader, with my book (well phone) under my nose not being able to put it down. Can't wait for the rest of the books. Reading the next one and preordered the others.

Aim' he Sweet!. Fantastic Read...like a cool glass of sweet tea on a "hot summer's night"!

Adored it. Adored this!! It's sweet yet sexy, funny, sassy, and heartwarming. A great small town romance that put a smile on my face. It's a nice easy quick read that is perfect for a relaxing afternoon. Whynot, NC is a small town and the place Trixie Mancinkus decided to return to after law school. It was a hard decision considering she left behind the man who was most likely the love of her life, Ryland Powers. Turns out though it was the right decision for her. Now she's called on Ryland to help with a very important case she's handling and like the great man he is he comes right away. It might have been 11 years since they've seen each other but the love is still there. Their problem is still the same though. He's big city and she's small town. How could rekindling what they had turn out well for either of them??? You definitely want to grab a copy of this one! I highly recommend it.

Great sweet, fun story!. This is a new series by Sawyer Bennett's alter ego, Juliette Poe. This is the first book in her new series Sex and Sweet Tea. Trixie Mancinkus is from North Carolina and is a sweet, southern type of girl from the town of Whynot. Trixie ended up going to Harvard and became a lawyer. While in law school Trixie met Ryland Powers and the two quickly became serious for three years. They made plans to get jobs in Boston and still be together. Just before graduation, Trixie tells Ryland that she can't stay in Boston and that she is moving back to Whynot, NC and she wants him to go with her. Ry is conflicted but ends up staying in Boston and they break up. Fast forward 11 years....Trixie has called Ry out of the blue because she needs help on a case and now that he is a big time lawyer she thinks just having him on the case will help her client. Ry agrees and flies down to Whynot for the first time ever. Let's just say that Boston and Whynot are polar opposites. I just adored how Ry looked at how different life was in the south. It made him realize that maybe he was missing out on something....a life. Of course seeing Trixie again was just icing on the cake. All those old feelings came back quickly. I loved watching these two rekindle what they had. It was so sweet and romantic. I just adored Trixie's family.....they are a hoot...especially Pap! I really enjoyed the path these two had to take to get back together. If you are looking for a sweet fun story...give this one a try! Great start to this new series!

A good read. This first book from Sawyer Bennett's altar ego Juliette Poe gives us the usual great writing we are used to. I loved the interaction between Trixie and Rylan, and I'm interested to see where the next book takes us. At times it was difficult for me to see past the caricature of the small southern town, but an overall good story.

Oh He's Precious Alright. Oh my. An honest to goodness happy, feel good book that left me all warm and fuzzy. A second chance romance that follows Trixie and Ryland, both Harvard Law School graduates who were offered jobs at a prestigious Boston Law firm. Yet after 3 years as a couple Trixie decides to up and move back to her hometown of Whynot, North Carolina, shocking and surprising Ryland in the process. 11 years later Trixie reaches out to Ryland for assistance in one of her cases, and Ryland hops on a plane to meet with the woman he loved 11 years earlier, neither of them expecting anything but closure on their relationship. With some hilarious characters, a wonderfully written story told in dual POV, with some passionate scenes and intense chemistry, this book has firmly placed itself as one of my top picks for this year. So many laugh out loud moments. I am so looking forward to more from Juliette.

3.75 Chesty's stars. Ryland Powers and Trixie Mancinkus had spent an inseparable 3 years, whilst at Harvard Law School. With big plans for the future together, they were both offered positions at a reputable Law firm in Boston. Their life was fully on course, until it wasn’t. Eleven years later, Trixie is the main port of call for anything legal in the town of Whynot, North Carolina - population 3,872. Back in the bosom of her family, and far away from Boston…and Ry. Ry receives a request for help from Trixie, which takes him from his big city Law Firm in Boston. He’s intrigued to know what she would require his assistance with, and equally hungry to learn what happened to their relationships sudden demise all those years ago. This is a sweet, second chance romance from the alter ego of Sawyer Bennett. I was thoroughly entertained by the engaging Trixie and Ry, and gained a good grounding of the supporting network for the future shenanigans. A great start to a new series, and a new author *thumbs up* Complimentary copy received from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Loved it. Wow .... what can I say about Sawyer Bennett's alter ego Juliette Poe apart from what a fantastic fun short read , this novella hooked me from page one, the characters intrigued me and the story drew me in. 11 years ago Trixie graduated from Harvard, turned down a job at a top Boston Law Firm and hightailed it back to Whynot to open her own law practice leaving her boyfriend Ryland behind so why is he in Whynot now, well Trixie needs help with a case and to be honest he stills wonders why she left him the way she did. This author has a way of making you connect on so many different levels with her characters and places , be it the moonshine drinking pistol welding Pa or the shotgun welding brothers, I'm sure this book will bring a smile to your face. Looking forward to more from Juliette Poe

This was a fun, quick read full of romance, laughter and love of family.. Juliette Poe, is a new author to me. This was a fun, quick read full of romance, laughter and love of family. Both Trixie and Ryland graduated 11 years ago from Harvard Law and their plans were to live together and practice in Boston. That is until Tries pulled the rug out from under their relationship and returned to her southern hometown of Whynot, North Carolina, shattering the plans they had made for their future. When Trixie contacts Ry and asks him to assist on a case she is working on he rushes straight down South to help her out. It is obvious to both of them and Trixie's family that their feelings are still as deep as they were 11 years ago. AS Trixie and Ry face the possibility of life without each other again, both decide that is time for compromises. Neither of them have been truly happy without the other and it is high time they decide to fight for what they both want. Ms. Poe described Whynot in such great detail that I would love to visit. I love the idea of a small town where everyone knows you; although as Trixie and Ry found out that can be annoying at times. Trixie's grandfather Pap is a great secondary character and I hope he actually gets his own story. In fact, all the characters made me smile and I cannot wait until we visit Whynot, North Carolina again. Ain't He Precious? is an extremely well written sweet, romantic book and I loved it.

Too cute!. I loved how honest Ry and Trix were with each other.

Amazing and the heat of the moment. Wow great great book, amazing sentimental love connection. I loved it the most how each chapter is mentioned on who will be speaking as the I (main) character. Although spoiler alert, not a good ending at all! Im soo disappointed! Darn. I hope there is a continuation like part 2 book
