Loved the storyline. Really enjoyed the story. Was fabulously entertained and cannot wait to read the next story. Looking forward to experiencing the strength and growth of Claire. Great job!!!

Interesting. First off, the book was great, hence my review, but the ending feels too abrupt. The story was still going strong until they made the abrupt change in character with the general. I liked the ending, but I feel as though we should have been more eased into it. Overall, the book was great! I loved the development of Ferran’s character and the book starts off with a bang, grabbing my attention from the start. I couldn’t put it down!

Falls short. The plot had good potential, but the characters just seemed immature and flat. The romance didn’t have any depth to me.

Dithering. Way too much chatter. It drags on with too much detail about things that don’t need to be talked about. I couldn’t make it farther than the part where they’re leaving for their mission. Makes me want to flip through the pages til I get to the point.

I really enjoyed reading this book. I really like the main characters. They were developed well. The plot was interesting and believable. This author had me hooked from the beginning. I couldn't put it down. I look forward to reading the next book.

Vapid main character that you will grow to despise. Wordy, poorly developed characters. Main character is arrogant, simpering, self centered, idiot. Character’s voices are confusing and inconsistent. Where is the editor? Horrible, boring story.

Poorly written .... And poorly plotted. Impossible to enjoy.

Mixed. This book is just the kind that I usually like an adventure with some romance as well. Unfortunately the dynamics and interaction between the characters really took away from much of the enjoyment. The elves that she travels with ‘tease’ Clair and I don’t think the author realizes how degrading it comes off. Reading about how they belittle her and have it minimized is unfortunate. Clair reacts to this belittling with temper tantrums. She comes off as childish. I am looking for mutual respect in the romance that I read and this story fell very short of this expectation.

Conflicting. I actually enjoyed the story and some of the characters. However, like some of the negative reviews, the main character was so frustrating and self centered. Spoiler: The elves had pointed out that the general was suspicious and Claire ignored their warnings. She excused his bad behavior. As much as I like justice desserts, Claire almost dying was a bit much. It literally took her almost dying to realize Farron was on her side and liked her!

Blah.. In the first few chapters helps to view the protagonist as a tween who has suffered repeated head trauma before the story began. It helps explain why she is so useless. It still only got me to the scene where she’s dressing for the mission and pledging to be strong like her mother and says “I’ll make you proud, mom”. Claire couldn’t even keep hold of the dagger, so I can’t realistically imagine her becoming competent just because she decided to be. I’ll update when I get further into the story. I’m really not a fan of the writing “style”.
