Granny’s Got A Gun. Short, but expected at this price. A fun read at a great price.

Loved this character. Barbara Gold is a fiesta retires CIA agent trying to fit in to a “normal” retirees life. Her life gets unexpected interest when a friend is murdered. Being a senior myself, I can identify with Barbara’s complaints of her body slowing down. Even with impaired vision, slows reaction times, and aches and pains Barbara is able to solve the case without blowing her cover. Good story line with several laughs and grins.

Senior mystery. This is a new series based on a septuagenerian retired CIA agent retired to a village called Cheerville. She gets bored and looked for adventure as an investigator of suspicious deaths. I found it curious and likely premise of we who age with relish but not at all responsibly! I might be one of those people...

TOO EASY. Because it was so short, the details came together too quickly and easily. It was pleasurable reading, but it lacked enough detail. It wasn’t worked out. Reached its conclusion too quickly. I would have loved more involvement in getting to the end. DISAPPOINTED.

New to Lin. Granny’s got a gun is appropriate when extremely light reading is needed. The crux of the plot ie the reason for the murder is so thin that Lin should be embarrassed. Surely she can think of a more substantial reason for murder of someone you love. The quality of writing is suitable for a young teenager if they don’t mind excessive repetition. Over and over we are reminded that Barbara was a CIA agent and skilled in many fields of survival training. And that she is 70. If you remove all references to those 2 facts, there won’t be many pages left in the book. So: it’s a very light book but I think reading another in the series would be akin to the famous “Chinese water torture”.
