The MCHPP Pantry Recipe Collection is a community project to collect and share favorite recipes.

Maine-based MCHPP served its first meal in 1983 out of the basement of a local church. Over the next few decades, the support of MCHPP grew and the client base continued to increase. In February of 1995 we received our 501(c)(3) status, and in 2003 we built our current facility. 

Over the years we have added programs and increased service hours to continue meeting the growing need we have seen in the community. We now offer nine different programs out of our building in Brunswick, some of which have satellite locations throughout Maine’s mid coast region.

MCHPP depends on many sources for monetary and produce donations for its eligible clients. These sources include Good Shepard Food Bank, a regional source, Hannaford, Shaws, Target, Trader Joe’s, Penure, Walmart, over two dozen regional farms, individual donations and the government. Depending on donations, the pantry offers products that range from bread, milk, and eggs, to meat, vegetables, fruit and desserts.  

All donations support the pantry and several other MCHPP programs that work to provide food security. 

During the 2015-2016 fiscal year, the Food Pantry saw 8,380 total visits and 21,883 total people come through to access fresh groceries, roughly equating to 152,911 meals provided. There were 5,797 first visits and 2,587 second visits, with a total of 383 new families who received food through the pantry. We thank the community for their enthusiastic participation in this project. We have tried to put together a set of recipes that is a manageable size, has variety, and uses some of the ingredients available in the pantry. Hopefully, the recipes produce tasty, healthy, and satisfying meals!
