Predictable. This is not one of my favorites of Shayla Black. It was a bit trite and predictable. The stupid internal dialogue of the main characters was, again, predictable and is the bane of stupid, predictable romance novels. Shayla, stick to your kink....so much better.

Love this new series!. I loved this first book in Ms. Black's new series! Cutter is such a great hero. A guy who not only puts family first, but loves with his whole heart. I could tell when he let himself feel for Shealyn that he was all in. He not only wanted to protect her from harm, but wanted desperately to make things right at home before he could look for a future with her. He was an awesome guy....such a great book boyfriend. Shealyn is an actress with not a lot of people around her to trust. Her relationships are all pretend and she has no one she can truly trust, until Cutter shows up. He fills a hole she has always had, but never wanted anyone enough to fill it. She is lonely, but yet she protects herself the best she can. I ached for her. For someone with so much success, she was so alone. I loved this story and watching how their relationship unfolded. There were times of course I wanted to scream at Shealyn, but I had faith that everything would be OK. I can't wait to see where this series go. I enjoyed seeing some old names pop up in here as well.

The bodyguard and the actress. Shealyn West is being blackmailed with a video that was taken without her knowledge. For reasons of her own, she doesn't want to investigate who is doing this to her. She just wants to pay them off in hopes that they will leave her alone once paid. Cutter Bryant is hired to be a bodyguard for actress Shelly West. When he arrives, he is surprised the actress only hired him to protect her while dropping off blackmail money. Cutter tries to convince Shealyn that she needs to let him investigate or the blackmailers will keep coming back, if it truly is money they are after. Cutter knows he shouldn't get close to Shealyn but he can't help the attraction he feels for her. He has obligations at home and can't offer her anything long term. Shealyn has a fake relationship with her co-star of her hit tv series. She knows she shouldn't get close to Cutter in fear of the paparazzi finding out and smearing her name. Cutter and Shealyn's story was ok. I wish I can say that I loved it but it was just ok. Cutter's obligation back home and Shealyn's fake relationship interfered too much into their own story and I think it kept me from connecting with them.

Business & Pleasure?!?!. For a man who thrives on control and has chosen duty and honor over any kind of personal life for much of his life and career, bodyguard and former military man, Cutter Bryant, finds himself in a rather precarious position with his newest client, hollywood starlet, Shealyn West, because their attraction is not something they anticipated and when lines blur and pleasure consumes them, it’s unclear if they’ll come out of this assignment with their hearts or even their lives. Cutter is one heck of an alpha male hero, and, at times, his overprotective nature can be suffocating, especially when it comes to a woman he desires. It’s easy to see Cutter’s conflicting emotions; he commits himself to every job he takes, but there’s added stress in protecting Shealyn because not only are their secrets between them, but one the threat to her life is always in the forefront of his mind, which adds further drama to an already crazy situation. Shealyn is an intriguing character - one who has fought to achieve her dreams, and now that they’re threatened by a past mistake and someone looking to benefit from her misdeeds, she needs to do whatever it takes to ensure that everything works out the way she wants and needs them to, and that’s why Cutter Bryant enters her life and ends up turning it upside down. Shealyn does not trust easily which makes sense given her career choice, but there’s something about Cutter that makes her feel protected, even when things seem out of control. The sizzling chemistry between Shealyn and Cutter resonates from the pages, so it’s understandable why they both can’t help but give into what they’re feeling, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t further complicate an already complex situation or feel a bit overbearing when Cutter’s protective nature goes a little overboard, and until the blackmailer is dealt with and all of the secrets are laid bare, things are bound to be dicey and dramatic, and that’s exactly what goes down the closer Shealyn and Cutter become and the infinite lengths that Cutter is willing to go. Devoted to Pleasure is one wild, sensual, and dangerous ride, and the title itself, although it seems contrary to what the word devotion implies, proves to be both a curse and a blessing for Shealyn and Cutter and with the amount of suspense, drama, and twists that occur throughout the storyline, professional and personal relationships become a point of contention for those involved. 4 Poison Apples (The Fairest of All Book Reviews)

Intense Read. I was so excited that Ms. Black wrote a spin-off to her series Wicked Lovers. I fell in love with Shealyn and Cutter! Being ex-military and now a bodyguard, Cutter is all alpha male. On a side note he can guard my body anytime. Shealyn just wants to pay the blackmail money and be done with it, no investigation or anything. Cutter advises her to investigate further but he is only hired to “guard” her while she pays. There is undeniable chemistry between the two but Cutter never mixes business with pleasure. Captivating story from the first page. This story is action-packed and kept me on the edge of my seat guessing who the blackmailer was. Can’t wait for the next installment of this series!

Devoted to Pleasure. What a great read! The author makes it so easy for you to attach to these characters. I loved them all. Cutter, although you dream of a man like him you rarely find one ~ which makes the story unfold like a perfectly written dream. Shaelyn and the Hollywood connection were very realistic and well played. It's a soap opera, right? All the people meshed together and the suspense mixed with die hard sex made for a page turner. You were never sure which way the story would go as someone tries to kill Shaelyn...the lead up to the end was a great cliffhanger...even though you might suspect the culprit ~ you just aren't sure. I love those!! And his team mates injected humour and sarcasm so there was something for everyone. The hard part about words on a page is sometimes they are just that and never come alive as visions in your mind...Devoted to Pleasure got a 5 star from me because it does come alive!! Will be waiting for the next release. I definitely finished with a smile on my face. Nice treat!!

The colorful secondary and supporting characters include Cutter’s brother, police officer Cage Bryant; Cutter’s best friend Brea Bell; Shealyn’s sister Maggie aka Magnolia; Shealyn’s co-star Tower Trent, and fellow actress Jessica Jarrett. The requisite evil has many faces. There are also a couple of cameo appearances and mentions of characters previously introduced in the author’s other series. DEVOTED TO PLEASURE is an edgy and sexy story line. The premise is intriguing and captivating; the characters are spirited, passionate and charismatic; the romance is steamy, hot and heavy. DEVOTED TO PLEASURE is a spicy and dramatic start to Shayla Black’s DEVOTED LOVERS.
