Wonderful. Simply a great story!!!!!!!!!!!

Engaging reunited lover’s romance. I received an advanced reader’s copy of this book. I always enjoy Valerie Bowman’s books. Her stories and characters are engaging. Mark and Nicole’s story of second chance romance did not disappoint. The couple had not seen each other for ten years after they’d married. Nick seeks her out since he’s up for a promotion and his chances of getting it are improved if he is seen to be a settled married man. Nicole agrees to return with him. They had to deal with some unexpected situations upon their return but it is these circumstances that allow them to work through the unresolved issues and hurts from their past.

Valerie Bowman never disappoints. I’m not usually a huge fan of second chance romances, but A Duke like no other is an emotional roller coaster from the beauty and heartbreak of old lovers reuniting to the suspense of a great mystery. I cried and then I rejoiced with Nicole. If only every book did such a fantastic job of captivating its audience.

Ambition and Pride. Estranged for over 10 years due to pride and misunderstandings, Mark finds he needs to be a family man in order to secure a promotion. He travels to France to ask his wife for a favour but finds she has an unexpected condition of her own. The novel bounces between the past and the present, enabling the reader to understand their early relationship and it’s breakdown. In addition there is a murder for them to solve with an unexpected culprit. There is quite a bit of artistic licence in this novel, so readers who like some historical accuracy take note. If you are able to suspend disbelief then this is an enjoyable story and all the love scenes take place within the confines of marriage (Note: I do hate the modern Regency novel where unmarried maidens are conveniently unchaperoned at every turn!) I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
