Love the story lines. Revenge mixed with romance!

Fast moving, great book. This was my first Kory Schrum book. Though the start was a little slow once the story picked up steam it was a nice, twisting, turning roller coaster of a read. I throughly enjoyed it, thank you.

“Shadows in the Water” kept me enthralled!. This is the first book in a long time that I had a difficult time putting down! The character of Lou Thorne and her ability is a stroke of genius. The story and characters kept the entire novel rolling seamlessly the entire time.

Intriguing!. Great book! Loved the plot line, the characters were well developed, and the book was well written and edited. I recommend this book to anyone who likes a little suspense with their paranormal.

Save time download the series. Really enjoyed how the author took time to develop the characters so they became people you cared about, rooted for and wanted to win…even a certain fearful beast! It’s always nice to see a strong woman action figure, and I have a goddaughter who I need to get this to, I only hope you enjoy it as much as I did! Great action a smattering of humor, this is a read that leaves you wanting more!

The best book I think I have ever read!!. This book had me from the very first page! It is written with a depth that I, a lifelong book nerd, have very rarely experienced! Wow! I am writing a short review only because I am so looking forward to the next book in this series! Without a doubt I have a new favorite author! Job well done!!

Shadows in the Water. Supernatural? No, super book! I did not even notice the “supernatural” until I was two thirds of the way into the story. I was too wrapped up with the characters and the twists and turns of revenge to notice. Ms. Shrum is at the top of my list of authors to follow. dsimonsen57

Unique and a fun read. So, definitely one of a kind supernatural abilities, who done it, wicked humor type escape. I liked it a lot and will definitely be reading more in this series.

Terribly Imaginative. Has a bit of everything, from Sci-Fi & Horror, to drama & murder mystery, & even a bit of romance. Not only imaginative, but twisted & surreal, with a lead character you don’t know whether to love, pity or envy. One terrific ride of a story!

Shadows in the Water. As an avid reader, I was thrilled to discover Kory M. Shrum. I first was attracted to her DYING books and was so sad when I completed the entire series. I wanted more...more enthralling characters, more breathtaking suspense, more Kory Shrum novels! And then I found it, the WATER series. I was hooked on the first book Shadows in the Water from page 1. Following the main character Lou Thorne, I was drawn into a life that was horrendous to even imagine. Gaining strength from the terror of her world, she moves through the days hell bent on revenge. Others in her life...Robert King, Aunt Lucy, and Konstantine try to save her but, at the same time, need her to save them. I held my breath as I followed Lou each time to La Loon and what lay in wait for her there.

Great Story!. I couldn’t put this down. The story just pulled you in fast paced not too many characters and really well developed characters. I love a great mystery as well as a little bit of supernatural thrown in and the sad at all. You must read this one! I am going to be getting the next installment as soon as I finish leaving this review!

Gritty and Full of Suspence. Lou is a tough, full of revenge character, and she’s out to get her father’s killers. In the process she loses part of her humanity but might be able to rescue just a little of it by the end. The book is good. It’s not a feel good story with a perfect ending but looks at how loss can scar a person emotionally.

5 stars. This is well written and worth reading if you are looking for something different. It’s like a mystery, horror, and thriller all in one book. I really enjoyed it.

Great read!. The characters were complex. You can’t help but love the main character even though she murders other villains. There are unpredictable spins throughout the story. I couldn’t put the book down. Can’t wait to start the next one.

One in a hundred. I read a ton of these inexpensive books from book bub but I rarely go on to the next book at the increased price. I read two or three books a week and this will be the only one out of the last six months or so that I will follow up on. Lou is sort of like Anita Blake without entire chapters about her sex life. Her character could use a little more development but that’s why you write more books in a series. I’m looking forward to reading more.

Finally. Finally a new plot that delivers everything you want in this genre! I enjoyed reading the main character sections the most but by the middle I was drawn into learning about all the characters, too. Hard book to put down. Appreciate that this book had a solid ending, but also thankful the story continues. I’ll buy the second book!

Best book everrrr!. I LOVED Kory’s Dying For A Living series. So after this AMAZING book I want to keep digging. I want to find out more about Lou-Blues story....and whatever happens to her life (and death) and all the wonderfully developed characters along the way. I guess since i just lost my dad, I feel for Louie and fell in love with her by the first couple of chapters. Her story is one filled with pain, longing and a need for redemption. It’s beautifully written, fast paced and grabs your attention in the first page. I’m falling down the La Loon rabbit hole on this one! Thank you to the author for giving me chills...and tears. Lol 👍❤️😘

Excellent. Main character was well written! Strong female character without it feeling unrealistic. Excellent plot twist that made it feel as if it were the first time you read an action novel.

Unusual premise, superb theiller. Loved the book. Lou has unusual abilities, but uses them to her best capabilities. She may come across as emotionless on the outside, but is that just a mask? Stayed up all night to finish the first book. It’s not just the suspense, but Shrum’s moments of insights like Konstantine’s view on American architecture, King’s opinions on self righteousness and youth. Loved it! Even more than the Dying for a Living series.

A great book, with an originality that is a rare find.. I devoured this book over a period of a couple of evenings. The characters, even the minor ones are well created and come to life, in your mids eye their image becomes crystal clear. Worth a read. There are a range of interesting characters, whose interactions weld this novel into a believable scenario. It is well written and I would recommend you read it. There are some questions that I would have liked to have been answered, but possibly they can be found in subsequent books.

Fantastic revenge story. A well written story of revenge with a mystical/SF twist. The characters are well fleshed out, the story flows without too many flat parts, and Louie is a heroine in the style of Anita Blake or any other tough hero. Petite, with ovaries of steel. You’ll love Jabbers.

Absolutely Amazing. Amazing read. All 11 books I felt like I was reading about a Marvel super vigilante hero. I’ve never read a series and had such a strong wish to have it made into a movie. I highly recommend reading the first 2 books because then you will be hooked and read all the others. Amazing action. No infidelity. Slow burn. Components of this story remind me of Dexter. Worth reading. Honestly.. This is a series I will follow until there is no more to follow. To attempt to describe it would take too long, but my advice is to start at the beginning and follow each book through in sequence, even though each one is a satisfying read on its own.
