The Way to God and How to Find It by D. L. Moody Book Summary
In this inspirational classic of Christian literature, D. L. Moody discusses how the believer can embark on a path to unity and closeness with the Lord God.
For the author, the message which God seeks to convey is a simple one. With little recourse to complex theology and obscure writings, D. L. Moody demonstrates authoritatively the overwhelming power and benevolence of the Lord. In just a few short chapters, he presents a set of convincing and eloquent examples of the beauty of the divine, and shows how believers can advance closer to its beneficent essence.
Simple messages from the New Testament, such as "God is love", are reflected upon for their salient truth. While verbose commentators of the Bible have essentially said as much in a thousand or more words, D. L. Moody realizes that the message of these three words is more than the sum of such dry musing. We are thereafter graced with examples of Christ's duty to man, and instances of his virtue, that the words become profound with action.
The qualities of the good believer are looked at later in the book. The importance of repenting is summarized in Christ's own words, with Moody letting the Savior speak for Himself. On this occasion, Moody concludes with a phrase popular with Irishmen: "right about face!" - only can a Christian truly be said to have repented when he changes drastically his behavior.
In all, The Way to God and How to Find It is a lively and readily understood Christian devotional which has lost none of its power and truth with the passage of years.
