The Librarian's Vampire Assistant by Mimi Jean Pamfiloff Book Summary

From New York Times Bestseller Mimi Jean Pamfiloff comes a Horribly Sunny Mystery, The Librarian’s Vampire Assistant.

NOBODY MESSES WITH HIS LIBRARIAN. . .

Who killed Michael Vanderhorst’s maker? It’s a darn good question. But when the trail brings Michael to hellishly sunny Phoenix, Arizona, his biggest problem soon becomes a cute little librarian he can’t seem to stay away from. He’s never met a bigger danger magnet! Even her book cart has it out for her. And is that the drug cartel following her around, too? “Dear God, woman! What have you gotten yourself into?”

Things go from bad to worse when local vampires won’t play nice.

Can this four-hundred-year-old vampire keep his librarian safe and himself out of hot water? Can he bring his maker’s killer to justice? Yesterday, he would’ve said yes. But yesterday, he didn’t have a strange connection with a librarian. Yesterday, people weren’t trying to kill her.

Great unexpected fine. Ver unexpected for a Vampire themed book.. very entertaining and lots of laughs with the slight undertones of humor used in “stressful” situations.

Great Mystery Read. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was a fun mystery that did not include suspense. The story felt like I was following clues like - It was Mrs. Plumb with the rope in the kitchen. I enjoyed trying to figure out who did it. In true Mimi style the book ends with a cliffhanger so I anxiously await what comes next. This book was interesting without being a romance. Truly love that I couldn’t put the book down and can’t wait to see where the next book takes us. Great read.

Starts off strong, gets progressively worse. I've listened to all six audiobooks in the series. The story of Michael and Miriam starts off with intrigue, you're totally rooting for them. By the 4th book I think the twists and surprises start getting a little stale. It's hard to give a really good review without posting spoilers but Book 5 is pure ridiculousness. Even for a vampire romance novel. The good news is, I think the authors recognize that so read it for what it is. Book 6 is not a necessary read (the main story is finished in Book 5). Those who come to like the "Mr. Nice" character would enjoy Book 6 since he's the main protagonist. I did not care for the character so I listened to the story to understand what else happens to Michael and Miriam however not much other than what would be obvious after finishing Book 5.

Love it!!! Good read!. Absolutely loved this story so far, can’t wait to read the rest!! Love how the author makes the main character seem like they are actually talking to you. Ready to see how the mystery unfolds. Yay! Mystery, mystery, mystery ;)

Vampires cannot resist a mystery! Who knew?!. Michael’s mentor and friend Clive is murdered. Along the way of figuring out how this could happen Michael “stumbles” into “his” librarian Miriam. This story is fun, flirty and unexpected. Not only is this a different twist on vampires it is a reluctant love story. Fate will not be denied...and neither will Mr.Nice. Can’t wait for the next in this series.....since I know Mr.Nice will ”force her to make more Fanged loves”. Highly recommend!

Over too soon. Mimi Jean P. Has once again created a great story. Let me repeat GREAT STORY... however this one differs from her usual romance. (No spoilers 🤐🤫) I’m giving it 3 stars because Mimi is a five star in the romance genre, and this story reads like a mystery, with the formula of romance novel. Not a bad thing until you get to end; and wonder “is this it? No, surely not. Where is the rest of it? But, I need more...” (Sorry Mimi Jean P. It really is a great story, but hurried. Mr. Vanderhorst and I deserved more suspense, more pages, and slower character development. Some of us girls like anticipation, but you gave it to me too fast) It’s a great start to what could blossom into a really good series. I can’t wait to see how Mimi Jean P. develops these characters. Hopefully she will continue to explore this new side of her own writing. ***Small spoiler*** if you like puzzles, backstabbing, and conniving, and have a curiosity similar to a little monkey I know, then this is the book for you.

A Funny Mystery full of Heart. What happens when your not so average romance writer dips her toe into the mystery genre? You get a Vampire stuck in one of the sunniest cities you can imagine trying to solve a mystery all while trying to navigate around a little librarian who may or may not be very distracting. Basically you get PURE GENIUS. Michael Vanderhorst is having a really bad couple of days. Someone killed his maker and no one in the hellishly sunny city of Phoenix, Arizona is lifting a finger to find out who. Michael is a 400 year old vampire, a gentleman and without time for the softer emotions. His current plan visit the offices of The Arizona Society of Sunshine Love aka the local vampire coven, collect the remains of his maker and hopefully find out what happened. Unfortunately for him nothing can be that easy. Suddenly he’s interviewing with the local librarian for the assistant librarian position, and planning to stay indefinitely. If the local vampires wont find out what happened to his maker he will, even if he has to break a few rules to do it. Michael’s interactions and internal monologues are exceptionally entertaining. He just wants to be that stodgy old vampire who doesn’t haven’t go beyond being a courteous gentleman, yet every time he turns around someone is ruining that for him. Miriam the local librarian is soft spoken, a little defiant and strong willed although an extreme danger magnet. And Lula, Michael’s assistant is snarky, sassy, a little vulnerable, and one I hope to see much more of in future books. Mimi has very successfully moved into the Mystery genre with this book. It was witty, entertaining and I laughed out loud multiple times.

Loved it!. I’m definitely buying the second book. It was very well written and is a great book overall. It was interesting trying to find out what will happen next in the book! All in all would recommend :)

So Good!. I couldn't put it down. I want more!!!

Laugh out loud funny!. Mimi Jean always comes through and this time is no exception. Fun, laugh out loud read. Michael is in mourning. His maker and friend is dead. To find answers and bring back his remains- yes vampires have remains- he has to travel to the most hellish place in the US for a vampire: Phoenix. But things aren’t quite so simple. This has become an extended stay. And Clive left a big mystery. Solving this murder, figuring out what’s going in with the local vampire society, saving the rather lovely librarian’s life while deciding how to get her to update her wardrobe, and finding a good Indian restaurant is on the list for today. But most important: cleaning the librarian’s office!

Great book. I loved this book. It had a lot of twists and turns. Very intriguing characters. I can’t wait to read the next one.

Loved this Adventure!. Wow, just so wow. This is not your typical vampire story, what you get is a fun, quirky and thrilling twist on a classic vampire loving a human romantic journey. It is filled with passion, witty banter, danger and emotional chills that will leave you craving more... Michael Vanderhorst is sexy, charming, passionate and a four-hundred-year-old vampire looking for his makers killer. When he stumbles upon a sexy little librarian that just can't keep from stumbling into trouble and he can't stop saving. Could not put this down once I started reading it and lost a full nights sleep but it was so worth it. (talk about book hangover)

Loved it!. Can’t wait for the next installments

Very catchy~. I went into this book considering it a birthday present to myself. And boy was I Not disappointed. The story moved quickly but was also well rounded, as a huge fan of vampire novels in general, I had a feeling I would at least mildly enjoy it. Instead I enjoyed it immensely, finding myself laughing out loud and disturbing the peace of my shared accommodations. All in all, I would recommend it to anyone who feels the need for any easy, quick and fun read. Can’t wait for the next one!

Loved it!!!. Funny and intriguing, definitely a page-turner. Michael is awesome! Miriam is adorable!

Great new type of series by Mimi Jean!. This book is quite a departure from the books we have come to expect from Mimi Jean! This story contains no sex, God's or Goddesses, mermen, or any of the other red hot story lines we normally love. In this book, Mimi Jean has turned down the fire and yet has given us a new kind d of hero. This vampire shares very little in common with other vampires you have read about. While he is old and powerful, he isn't using his power to seduce young women, sharing bis brooding heat with the women he meets, or even using them to attract the one he loves. Why? Because he doesn't know how to love or even much about his own kind. So when he stumbles into the job as the librarian' s assistant, it is simply to solve the mystery of how and why his maker was killed, and how the librarian fits in. Will this arrangement turn into a love story? We will just have to wait and see! In the meantime, enjoy this very different vampire.

The Librarian’s Vampire Assistant. Mimi Jean Pamfiloff The Librarian’s Vampire Assistant 8/10 Quirky and surprising, this contemporary story isn’t even a romance. I found it refreshing! Michael looks like he’s 20 years old but instead he’s a very old vampire. His Maker and best friend has been murdered, and Michael’s in town to find out why. What he doesn’t expect is his interest in a dowdy, klutsy librarian.

Love, love, love it!!!. I absolutely loved this quirky little paranormal mystery/romance. Mimi Jean’s books are always a great read and this one did not disappoint at all. Didn’t want to put it down! I can’t wait to read the next one ( will be starting tonight). I could almost feel the connection between the Librarian and her Vampire Assistant, then throw the assistants assistant into the mix and there is even more fun. I would highly recommend this for a great holiday read, but make sure you have the second book waiting in your library.

Meh. In retrospect I wish I HAD dropped reading after the first couple of pages. This book didn't really go anywhere for me. Not poorly written but I won't be buying the next books in this series.

The librarian’s vampire assistant. Wonderful story with surprising twists and turns. Thank you.

Book 1. Interesting concept. I’ve read other books written by this author and all of them deviate from what you would consider as the norm. I’ll keep reading because it ends on a cliffhanger but at the moment I’m not motivated enough to jump into book 2 (I’ll wait for it to go on sale).

Librarian's Vampire Assistant is intriguing!. This was an intriguing take on vampires and humans! It involved a mystery, and it was told in Michael's perspective on things he has learned from his maker and it has made him take control to be a better and nicer Vampire, on most occasions! Can't wait till Book #2!

It’s amazing!. It’s amazing, I literally finish in one day lol. The book just flow with the sound track, thank you for the amazing job! Now I’m running to the next.

WARNING! This book will cause sleepless nights and unwashed dishes. I downloaded this free book through Apple IBooks, and, wow. Immediately, I had to purchase the next one. Then the next. Then the next. You get the picture. Before I knew it I was the proud owner of all 5 books in the series, (so far???) and left without a HEA ending... or was I? I fell in love with Michael, with his heart and his thoughts. I found him quite realist and refreshing (at least he had “man thoughts”, lol) Michael had a sense of humour and vibrant, hilarious responses to ‘human’ issues. I can usually read a story, or a part one of, without getting totally invested to the point that I must know what happens. This was not the case with this book. While they all say ‘stand alone’ and the author does a great job of filling in the previous storylines and creating new stories that can be read as such, I just found that the characters were too engaging to be considered a ‘one and done’ and I had to plow through them all, immediately, and to the detriment of clean dishes, amongst other household duties. I’m sure that given enough time (and bleach, yech) my coffee cup will forgive my transgressions. After all, it’s Michael! Now I’m off to buy a more forgiving dishwasher and more of Mimi Jean’s books. My house will never be the same but we must do what we do.

The Librarians Vampire Assistant. I really enjoyed this book. It was different than a lot of other vampire books and I enjoyed the change of pace.

The Librarian’s Vampire Assistant. OMG! What a delightful and unexpected story to read! The quirky characters, the mystery, and possibly future romance….this book has it all including sprinkles of humour that will keep you enthralled if the vampires don’t. This is the first I have read by this author and now I’m hooked! Can’t wait to read more of this series and her other books. This book deserves a hundred star rating!
