Enthralling, as always.I've really enjoyed this series from Rachel Amphlett from the very beginning. With a central theme continuing through the first three books being solved in book four, I was wondering if Call to Arms, her fifth in the series, would lose some of its spark. I shouldn’t have doubted, as the action begins from page one with only a few brief mentions as to what has gone on previously. Once she returns to work in the aftermath of her last case Kay Hunter gets right back into action reopening a cold case, that for one of the extended team, hits very close to home. We follow Kay as she leads the investigation, as she does all things in life, from the front and with the support of her dedicated team and her supportive husband, Adam. This story may not have the intensity of the previous books in this series, yet it is still full of suspense with many twists and turns and family secrets which keep you wondering how the team will manage to solve the case. A thoroughly good read, looking forward to more from this talented writer..BookishMumScore: 5/5

Call to ArmsI really like the hero in these stories. She is not your stereotypical lone wolf, or can’t keep a relationship etc etc. She is more like you expect in real life with the normal going’s on and vulnerabilities..HeadhaynesScore: 5/5

Call To ArmsHaving read the series from book one Call To Arms continues the great style of Rachels previous novels. In this book we see Kay Hunter develop as a police officer on a promotion whilst her former DI is suspended and she has returned to work after a period of sick leave. The story is well written in the style that is now Rachel’s trade mark, engrossing, detailed and one that gets the reding thinking who has done what based on the clues given. Then a big clue is revealed that forces you to change your mind and it leaves you stumped at times. This book follows on from her previous Kay Hunter novels and you won’t be disappointed reading this as a standalone but its best to read them in sequence to get the full character development of Kay Hunter and the team..BritmanScore: 5/5
