If you liked their first book..... Wait a while to read this. In and of itself it’s a great book. The Wife Between Us prepares you to seek the twist which I found myself doing almost obsessively while reading An Anonymous Girl ... I don’t think I enjoyed the depth of the characters because I was reading between the lines. I say, read both books with a lot of time between them ( I read each within a week of the release date) or begin this with intentional avoidance of twist-hunting.

Very good. Very intriguing and hold your attention. Could not stop reading

Great book. This book was very interesting, after reading other reviews I gave it a try because I love psychological thrillers.. and this book is a good one, a book that makes you think, and question what’s going on in the story. It also makes you think about ethical morals as a person in life.... the ending was a fair ending, wish it could have been more clever, but still a fun read. I would recommend!

Had me from the start!. This book was a page turner for me. Kept me thinking and guessing from the word go.

Excellent. Intriguing plot and consistent characters makes this a quick read.

Enthralling read ~. Read this in one day it was so good!

Good read. Had a hard time putting this down, kept be thinking till the very end!

A easy read. Good book but a quick ending

Errrrrgrte. Tu .r rr

Kept me captivated. I could not put this book down. I loved the narrative and the pace.

Not as good. I loved the wife between us, this is far from that. The story is similar but the plot twists are less thrilling.

Where was the twist?. I read this whole book waiting for some major flip flop of characters that was unexpected and there was no payoff at all at the end. I’m so confused. It seemed to have intrigue throughout, but then, nothing. :(

Convoluted and nonsensical. Painful to finish but hoping there would be a conclusion that made sense. No such luck.

Psychologically twisted. I’m not sure why this book got negative reviews. It could be because it is a mind f*%k through and through. If you’re looking for action and gore- this is not the book for you, but if you can read a little deeper and empathize with a jilted partner…read on. This book is obviously the extreme, but well crafted and well written.

Gripping. I received an ARC of this book. An Anonymous Girl moved methodically as the web was woven. I have ADD and had a hard time putting this one down. During the times when responsibilities limited my reading time, I was haunted by these characters. I was kept on edge at the end trying to imagine how this tale would conclude in the limited pages I had remaining. I should not have been so concerned. The ending was perfect. Strategically paced with no lulls. I’m ready for the next one from these two talented authors.

Would recommend!. I went into this book completely blindsided. Having no understanding of what the book entitled kept me captivated to read more. I for one really enjoy Dr. Shield’s character, I found her to be intriguing. I was hoping Jessica and Dr. Shields would have ended up dating lol. I do however would have wished the ending turned out different. Overall I found the book to be fascinating. I now can’t wait to read The Wife Between Us.

Unexpected Cat and Mouse. I've been quietly contemplating this title. It is once again a title that is best to go in blind. The summary does little to give away with the impressive psychological thriller that is contained within the pages. Again the authors spin an original tale on the cat and mouse trope. How far will both the subject and the puppet master go? The money becomes too much of an incentive. Jessica's choices become too much of a power trip for Dr. Shields. As a reader I was graced with unexpected twists and turns that kept me engaged for central portion of the story. Like The Wife Between Us, I felt like several of the psychological twists just came out of nowhere and completely unexpected - but even MORE so with this story. I found myself more than once rereading passages as I asked myself "Did that just happen?". Authors Hendricks and Pekkanen once again impressed me fully with the ability to weave their storytelling voices to seamlessly blend. I never once felt as if two voices projecting the pace and plot. The Wife Between Us was one of my 2019 best of the best reads - so getting the gift of an advanced reader copy made me ecstatic! And there in lies the issue - I believe in the reader because I expected too much. I feel I owe my followers this insight as I fangirled so hard over TWBU. This story is told in a dual POV. Whereas TWBU was told as an observer - thus the appeal of originality to TWBU. As a reader when we were in Jessica's POV, I felt the story flowed well and kept me engaged. However, Dr. Shields was stiff and difficult for the first 25%. Maybe if I hadn't read TWBU, the use of this 'robotic' character would have worked. But it made it difficult at first to get invested in the character of Dr. Shields. Lastly, the ending -- well, it left me with a deflated feeling after being held on a tight wire for 70% of the story. In fairness, I think the POV and narcissistic personalities weren't an appeal for this reader. I've read some reviews of those who choose to read AAG first had some of the same feelings I projected from TWBU - so take my one star deduction as I hyped it up too much in my mind. I do plan on re-reading with a buddy. Maybe that shared discovery of "WTH just happened" will make me temper my feelings on the parts I that didn't make it a perfect read for me. Wrapping up, if you are a huge fan of psychological thrillers, this title for fans of the genre to enjoy. It's a definite buy recommendation from me.

Entertaining, but not my favorite ending. I thought the book was great throughout, and there were some interesting twists. I wasn’t a huge fan of the ending, but still would definitely recommend.

So twisty and good!!. Loved this book, it got better the more I read

Anonymous girl. Loved this book, couldn’t put it down! DianneB1000

Not a great book. I was a huge fan of the book written by these two women, ‘The Wife Between Us’ so I thought for sure I would enjoy this one. Though I appreciate the story coming from two different characters, the book was just not told well. The suspense never lingered, the story was already told almost to its entirety with 100 pages left (mind you, it’s only roughly 250 pages so already knowing the whole story at 150 pages isn’t ideal). I only finished reading because it’s difficult for me to stop reading a book in the middle of it, no matter how horrible it turns out to be. I’m disappointed that I bought this book. Oh well, onto the next one.

Great Read!!!. Definitely had a hard time putting this book well my iPad down. Would definitely recommend to a interested reader. Great job ladies!!!

Interesting at first…. I enjoyed how the story was being told in the two different perspectives. The build up was good but the ending felt like it fell flat and ended too quickly.

Couldn’t put it down!. This book is by far the best one I’ve read!

Entertaining, but not amazing. I bought this book for a long flight and finished quickly. It had tense, thriller moments where I anticipated something climatic to happen, but it never really got to that point where I thought; “oh my gosh, this is crazy good!” The beginning and middle were my favorite parts; the ending should have been just as exciting and thrilling. However, the outcome fell pretty flat. It was entertaining though and an easy read.

Super Slow. It took me forever to finish this book! It was so slow! It really started to “pull me in” waaayy deep into the story line.

In search of an editor!. The novel is over 400 pages and should be 150-200 pages. It is unbelievably redundant with a very predictable and unsatisfying ending. For those with a week to waste on the beach.

Predictable. Not very suspenseful. Like another reviewer said, the whole story was pretty much told within the first 100 pages.

A mediocre read. It was a mediocre read. It wasn’t very suspenseful.

Not dark, not twisted, not shockingly suspenseful. Can a book be falsely advertised? I usually don’t leave reviews, but in this case I have to make it clear that it is not as twisted as they hype this up to be. Although I appreciate the storyline and the character development, there really is not anything that took me by surprise or by shock. I was looking for a dark, suspenseful, “never saw it coming” story, and this one is not it. While it starts off slow and is pretty repetitive, the storyline of the character, Jess, and the connection to the antagonist, Dr. Shields, has some appeal.

An Anonymous Girl. I could not get into this book. Every chapter felt like deja vu all over again.... Chapter after chapter.

WOW!!!. Great book.….a must read. Twists and turns up to the very end. Enjoy!

anonymous girl. slow start, but once you start untangling secrets it becomes addiciting!

Not a Quality Sarah P. Read. I LOVE Sarah Pekkanen’s books - I’ve read just about all of them. I can’t think of any reason such a superlative author would want to partner up with her editor to co-write novels; and not very good novels at that.. The overall concept was appealing, and the reviews were consistently stellar, touting the book as an ‘incredible psychological thriller’ with ‘so many unexpected twists and turns’. I gave it a read. Midway through I started to realize that Anonymous Girl was just not on par with Sarah’s previous single-authored books. Many of the twists and turns were things I’ve already seen (read) before. Nothing new here.

Ok. Just ok

S L O W. Super slow read. No real twists. Doesn’t get interesting until deep into the book.

Intriguing but disappointing ending. These authors have wowed me before with crazy endings I loved. Reviews had me expecting the same this time. Not so much. Felt like I invested a lot in the twisty story to only come out with a mediocre ending. Not bad, but not great.

Great book!. Couldn’t put it down. Their writing is amazing.

Just plain terrible. Must I say more?

Read this one and their other book ‘The wife Between us’. These books are light reads, with built up twists and turns as you keep reading, further into the book. If your looking for an entertaining light read. This would be a good book for you, as well as the other book mentioned in my title

The Anonymous Girl. I like a story with twist. I read their first book “The Wife Between Us” and loved it, I have to say the same about this one. Ladies, don’t let me down on #3.

Chilling & Thrilling. Captivating plot coupled with compelling prose. This novel perfectly blends all the ingredients of a good mystery with an enthralling psychological thriller.

Best thing I’ve read in a long time.. What a wonderful read. Highly recommend

Mehhh. The build up was not worth the ending.

An intriguing story that kept me guessing!. The blurb for this book intrigued me immediately, and after reading this writing duo's previous book, The Wife Between Us, I knew that as the reader I would be taken on a journey full of twists and turns, revelations, misdirection and plenty of questions. The main character, Jess, sets the tone right away with this story by becoming a participant in a study on Ethics and Morality. But she enters the study under less than ethical or moral circumstances, so what does that say about her? "Could you tell a lie without feeling guilt?" If you needed money really badly, would a little lie tug at your conscience? What could this study consist of besides just answering a few questions anonymously, collect your money and forget about it? That's what Jess thinks anyway, until the doctor conducting the test directly entices her with further sessions that include more money, ultimately leading Jess to agree to meet with the doctor directly to continue their sessions one on one. What transpires from there is a rollercoaster ride of: What is going on? Who can you truly trust? To what lengths will someone go to hold onto what is theirs? And woven throughout the whole story are the underlying secrets and fears that Jess has been holding in for a long time. Greer and Sarah weave an intricately complex tale told in dual points of view. That of Jess herself, and the other from Dr. Shields who is conducting the study, and may I say, the way her chapters are revealed is pretty ingenious. The only reason I am not giving this book a full five stars is because the first part dragged a little too much for me. It felt like I was trudging through part 1 and about half of part 2 before the story really picked up. Then once it did, I couldn't put it down. I had to find out how Jess was going to get out of the dangerous cat and mouse game that Dr. Shields was playing with her. For lovers of Psychological Suspense, this book is perfect for you! It will keep you guessing until the very end. Many thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for providing me with an advance review copy of An Anonymous Girl in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

Not special. Was expecting a lot more. Disappointed.

Just okay. It was good and kept me intrigued, but it was underwhelming and predictable.

Amended Review. Okay, I needed to amend my earlier (lukewarm) review as I’d written it when I was only halfway through this book. I (finally) just finished this book, & while the consistent use of the passive voice still distracted me to no end (not to mention felt a tad pretentious), I see now how it served a purpose. Thoroughly enjoyed this one ‘til the very end (just like ‘The Wife Between Us’).
