Two Turtle Doves. The second trip to Cressmouth, the town with Christmas all year long, is just as delightful as the first. What do you do when Saint Nick comes to town? Why, you bake him cookies and leave them by the fireplace. At least that’s what Penelope does when she gets a visit from Nicholas Pringle (a rogue known as Saint Nick). He is going to be the test subject for her latest “love is chemistry” perfume, and she entices him with biscuits (cookies). Neither of these people believe in love - at first. The more time they spend together, the more their attraction grows, the more confused they become. Watching them unravel their dilemma is laugh-out-loud entertaining. Loveable, quirky characters and a charming holiday setting make this a heartwarming Christmas story. Nick’s brother, Chris Pringle, and Penelope’s friends Virginia and Gloria make up a wonderful supporting cast and all try to help bring these two to a happy ending. Will they succeed? Hope so! Watch for the tip of the Christmas cap to our favorite Holiday stories (again). There are two turtle doves, but not in the aviary with the partridge in a pear tree. You will love how they came to be in the story! Happy Christmas! I merrily recommend this one. It’s a winner.

wonderful romance. I enjoyed the story of Penelope and Nicholas. I have loved all of Erica Ridley’s books and this one is no exception. Ridley has a talent for building and layering her characters. They become complex people that are quite relatable. I can’t wait to read more.

Kiss of a duke. This book was so good that I read it in one sitting. I throughly enjoyed it and I didn’t want it to end. Even though it had to end I didn’t feel as though things were missing and left unsaid. You’ll want to read this book and to share it too. ENJOY!!!

Great chemistry. Greatly enjoyed the story of Penelope and Nicholas. Nicholas, a known rake and Penelope, a chemist meet when he arrives on her doorstep to purchase a fragrance she invented named Duke. Nicholas is intrigued with Penelope but she appears to be the first woman who is not impressed with him. The meetings between the two of them are well written and entertaining in that they interact as two intelligent adults and enjoy time together. There is a HEA but not before a misunderstanding almost tears they apart. I would highly recommend thus book.

Open your eyes. This story opens up more about Cressmouth and it’s unique inhabitants. The focus is less about the Christmas connections and more about the personal connections. The reader has the opportunity to catch up with some friends from the first book and meet new characters. I look forward to seeing if Virginia gets her own story. Although some of her animal analogies are a little obscure, she sometimes hits the mark perfectly. She’s not afraid to tell her friends what she sees is happening to them. In this story we meet two people who have given up on the idea of love. To them it doesn’t exist. Nicholas is trying to protect himself against the unfortunate demise of his parents’ love match. Liking others makes him feel vulnerable. Penelope, as a scientist, does not believe in love because there is no evidence for it in nature. She would secretly like to be chosen for herself, rather than be forced to change herself to please others. These two flawed, logical people come together to find a solution for their problems. Nicholas wants to charm Penelope into selling him ‘Duke’, the perfume she has created for men. According to this premium rake it gives undue advantage to lesser mortals. Penelope is determined to try out ‘Duchess’ on him to see if the female version works as well as the men’s. They both end up with more than they could ever imagine and have their fundamental beliefs about themselves remoulded. This story is sweet and gentle. We watch each character do small, personal things for each other, despite the fact that neither will acknowledge this. Their interactions can be funny, moving, exciting and at some moments you want to give them a shake to wake them up to reality. They start to look for ways and reasons to meet each other. In the end they get their HEA, but there is a bit of pain in there as well. This story forms part of a series, but it can be read on it’s own.

I had so much fun with this story. I had so much fun with this story. This was a quick light read that takes us a little deeper into the town of Cressmouth (otherwise known as Christmas) and introduces us to yet another of the ‘Dukes’ in Christmas. It’s much lighter than the previous one in the series, with significantly less emotional turmoil. There’s still a healthy dose of angst, though, as Penelope and Nicholas try to prove there’s no such thing as love in their lives. There’s also lots of silly, funny moments that occasionally left me gasping for breath. I can’t wait to read Christopher’s story now.
