Three French Hens. Christopher Pringle came to Cressmouth, the Christmas town, to find a wife. He wants a wife who shares his interests and who will travel with him on his adventures around the world. Gloria Godwin loves astronomy, fixing mechanical objects, and exploring the world through her books. From the moment they meet, she drives him crazy. She doesn’t follow directions in the proper order and doesn’t call the stars and constellations by the proper names. As Chris and Gloria spend time together (she is supposed to be his matchmaker), they discover they enjoy being together. After all, they like astronomy, plum pudding, and learning about other places. They might just make a good match - might. Remember that Chris wants his wife to travel abroad with him. That could be a problem. In Wish Upon a Duke, we find ourselves in the merry winter wonderland of Cressmouth. The characters are witty and cheerful. Chris and Gloria fit together perfectly. They just don’t know it. They both have bad memories from the past. Perhaps they can help each other work through them. They get some encouragement from Nick and Penelope, and Gloria’s maid Madge nudges them along the way. Don’t miss this one. It’s a jolly good addition to the series. Oh… and how do you suppose you wish upon a Duke, and where will you find three French hens? Look to the stars for the answer.

Matchmaker or match?. What a lovely story! This is the third book in this series and it introduces us to two very stubborn characters. Neither of them is able to see a way around their set path in life. They have cocooned themselves in their own self imposed safety cage to avoid heartache. Christopher is constantly on the move and Gloria will not leave Cressmouth. Christopher makes a great first impression until he opens his mouth and criticises Gloria’s star walk discussion on the names of stars and constellations. Little does he know this is the second part of the walk and he has come into the discussion without knowing what came beforehand. He believes that rules were made to be followed. This includes cooking and science. His frustrations with Gloria’s imagination rolls of the page in waves. It’s something you can feel as a reader and it’s funny. Gloria does not correct Christopher’s opinions about her knowledge of the stars, and agrees to act as his matchmaker. As they spend time together they fall in love. What should be a lovely time is full of anxiety and fears. They each reveal parts of themselves they have always kept hidden. Stepping out of their comfort zone is not easy, but could it be worthwhile? Read this lovely story to enjoy the interactions between these two and find out what happens when all of the ladies in Cressmouth swap their attention from Nicholas to Christopher.

Gloria lives in Christmas, a town that always celebrates Christmas. Since losing her fiancé and her parents she is risk adverse, even though her spirit longs for adventure. While match making for Christopher, the brother of the heir to a Dukedom, the romance blossoms, but with his love for adventures and her determination to stay safe, there is no future for them. Can they heal each other? Of course they can!
