Fast paced!. Great concept, I like the merging roads of past and present in this crime story. I’m interested in seeing how these characters and their relationships develop in future books. Only flaw to bring up is that mobile phones weren’t around in popularity until the mid 1980’s, and even then not with teens, and texting wasn’t invented until the early 90’s. I’d perhaps want to re-write that a touch so the methods of communication fit with the time stamps that are in those chapters.

Writes like English is her second language. I enjoyed the story, but it definitely needed proof-reading and editing. The tenses kept changing and there were serious grammatical and spelling errors which was a shame because it made what could have been a great story quite hard to read in places. Keep writing, get an editor.

A good story,. The basic story is good but somewhat spoiled by historical and linguistic errors: there weren’t any mobiles to text his mum in the 1980s and the switching of tenses from past to present in the narrative is confusing With a decent re-edit it could be a thumping good story

Poor. Poorly written, flips between past and present tense in the same scene, weak storyline and full of spelling and grammatical errors. Would not recommend. Sorry!

5 stars. What a brilliant read! couldn’t put it down. give it a read you won’t be disappointed! best book I have read for a long time

Amazing!!. Amazing book, 100% recommend to anyone who loves a good crime book. You won’t be let down.

Badly written so many basic errors. The general storyline is actually not bad but just so many basic errors such as people sending text messages in 1981 and other things that would’t be plausible for the period of time. Other basic errors that make the storyline completely unbelievable. Typos too, not the end of the world but not great.

Great Thriller. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It was quick paced and the killer wasn’t obvious at all, it took me a few guesses. I love Addison McCain, she is quirky and hot headed. She wanted to prove herself so much to her team, I’m hoping for a little romance between Fletcher and Addison. I recommend this book and I can’t wait for the second one to come out. Great job to Sara Dalton.

Oh dear!. I am sure that there is a reasonable story in this book; however, I will never know as I stopped reading while the police were still at the murder scene. The author appears to be unable to write in an adult, educated manner, resulting in the book being almost impossible to read with any pleasure. Professional proofreading would improve it; however, I will not be reading anything else by this author.

Silence by Sara Dalton. This book is brilliant I would recommend it 100 per cent its the best thriller I have read in ages I could not put it down I can’t wait for the next book please make it soon.

Good read spoiled by editing. Found myself more and more annoyed by the poor editing and that spoiled the book which was actually an ok read.

Proof read??. Reasonable story spoiled by publishing a first draft, then thanking so-called proof readers - they must be illiterate!

Do not recommend. The plot line is far too obvious- the author does not seem to have made up her mind if she is writing a detective novel or a Mills and Boon and whoever proof read it should be shot, the grammar is appalling

Silence.. Does nobody proof read any more? If they do this book is a prime candidate. Every page has grammatical errors, punctuation errors and often misleading narrative . The conclusion to the storyline became obvious about halfway in which, of course, is too late to abandon the book.

Needs a good editor.. There is so much wrong with this book, which is a shame because it could be an ok read without the numerous spelling and grammar mistakes, wooden dialogue and lack of character development. I suggest the author should do more research into how a Detective Sergeant would behave, this officer is pouting and back-chatting her superiors and is extremely hard to like. There is potential, but the author really needs to take some creative writing classes, research real police work and have someone proof read/edit her work. I hope the author takes this as constructive criticism, and I wish her all the best.

Silence. Very poor grammar. Bad spelling. Poor construction of sentences. Confused tense. Poor punctuation. Very annoying when reading to follow plot. Poor development of the two police male characters.

Storyline good. The storyline was good but the writing leaves a lot to be desired. Grammar poor. Proof read the story before you get to this stage.

Silence. Thoroughly enjoyed reading this book...

Poorly written. The storyline of this book was good and the book had potential. However, it was so poorly written that the writing was a complete distraction from the story. The book is riddled with grammatical errors and poor sentence construction, to the extent that it reads as if it were written by someone who barely speaks English. I’ve never read a book that had so many errors (there would have been very few pages without multiple errors) and was written so badly that it detracted from the story.
