The Forgotten Child Book Reviews
The Forgotten Child by Melissa Erin Jackson Book Summary
The dead can speak. They need her to listen.
Ever since Riley Thomas, reluctant medium extraordinaire, accidentally released a malevolent spirit from a Ouija board when she was thirteen, she's taken a hard pass on scary movies, haunted houses, and cemeteries. Twelve years later, when her best friend pressures her into spending a paranormal investigation weekend at the infamous Jordanville Ranch—former home of deceased serial killer Orin Jacobs—Riley's still not ready to accept that she can communicate with ghosts.
Shortly after their arrival at the ranch, the spirit of a little boy contacts Riley; a child who went missing—and was never found—in 1973.
In order to put the young boy's spirit to rest, she has to come to grips with her ability. But how can she solve a mystery that happened a decade before she was born? Especially when someone who knows Orin's secrets wants to keep the truth buried—no matter the cost.

Fun & Scary Supernatural Mystery. I absolutely enjoyed reading this chilling debut. It has everything that makes a book impossible to put down: a gripping creepy plot, a scary serial killer villain, and fun and interesting well-developed characters that will make you laugh one minute and cry out in fear the next. Riley Thomas is a introspective, intelligent, and totally relatable psychic heroine, who despite her own paranormal baggage and fears, risks her life to solve crimes to save the lives and souls of others who haven’t been able to move to the next spiritual level. The author is an excellent writer and has a way of pulling the reader into the story and keeping him/her there. I strongly recommend this book, and am so looking forward to a Riley Thomas sequel.

An excellent, creepy tale. I loved it!. This is an excellently creepy, really well told story about a young woman (Riley) who is living with a bad experience in childhood that has left her in fear of the paranormal and with a sneaking suspicion that she has a gift as a medium. This scares and intrigues her in equal measure. Then, her best friend invites her and a few others to a ghost weekend at a ranch, that's got a scary, murderous past and it's not long before Riley begins to experience visions.... I loved the excellent writing that manages to balance the murder elements with the fabulous relationships between Riley, Michael (someone she meets at the weekend) and her girlfriends. The tree outline drawings that intersperse the chapters and just 'fit' the topic and the flow of the story. I was hooked from the first chapter and it was one of those reads where I so wanted to sit and read in one sitting, but, also (just as badly) really, really didn't want it to end! Thanks so much to Xpresso Book Tours, NetGalley and Melissa Erin Jackson and I wish you all every success with this really great YA thriller, which, for me can be read and enjoyed by anyone who loves a good, suspense filled story. Please let this be the first in a series of Riley, Michael (and the team) adventures. 5*
