True Believer by Jack Carr Book Summary

INSTANT BESTSELLER

“Take my word for it, James Reece is one rowdy motherf***er. Get ready!” —Chris Pratt, star of the #1 Amazon Prime series The Terminal List

“Jack Carr and his alter-ego protagonist, James Reece, continue to blow me away.” —Mark Greaney, #1 New York Times bestselling author of Mission Critical

In #1 New York Times bestselling author Jack Carr’s follow-up to The Terminal List, former Navy SEAL James Reece’s skill, cunning, and heroism put the US government back in his debt and set him on another path of revenge.

When a string of horrific terrorist attacks plagues the Western world during the holiday season, the broader markets fall into a tailspin. The attacks are being coordinated by a shadowy former Iraqi commando who has disappeared into Europe’s underground. The United States government has an asset who can turn the Iraqi against his masters: James Reece, the most-wanted domestic terrorist alive.

After avenging the deaths of his family and team members, Reece emerges deep in the wilds of Mozambique, protected by the family of his estranged best friend and former SEAL Team member. When a series of events uncovers his whereabouts, the CIA recruits him, using a Presidential pardon for Reece and immunity for the friends who helped him in his mission of vengeance.

Now a reluctant tool of the United States government, Reece travels the globe, targeting terrorist leaders, unraveling a geopolitical conspiracy that exposes a traitorous CIA officer, and uncovering a sinister assassination plot with worldwide repercussions.

A high-intensity roller-coaster race against time, True Believer is “one of this year’s hottest thrillers, and a perfect fit for fans of Vince Flynn, Brad Thor, and Daniel Silva” (The Real Book Spy).

True Believers will love. Awesome and captivating As good as the first one(Terminal List) James Reece is a character like no other

True Believer. No fall off from the Terminal List which caught me by surprise. Jack Carr is a talented storyteller. Semper Fidelis TJ Fox

Great book. Well written. Read this after watching Terminal List. Great follow up.

Good Series. Overall I like the main character, James Reece, and his relentless pursuit of justice. I find myself skimming or fast-forwarding through many paragraphs that are too wordy and provide unnecessary details. I’ll continue to buy the books and follow Reece through his upcoming adventures!

Solid Writing Mixed With Not So Much. To be clear, worth a read. But you should know the author takes many (highly detailed) detours that will simultaneously educate and infuriate you - where the editors disappeared to that were responsible for checking story flow, story consistency, word count and re-entry to the actual storyline is unknown - I’m guessing the author fought for more editorial control in this second book and this was the result. If not, time for that editor’s annual review🥴 In many cases you can note the divergence happening and choose to skim until you’re returned to the main storyline. You can also learn much if you dig in as the author went to much trouble to fact-check his myriad detours. No spoilers - just know that you don’t want to be on the other end of our protagonist ‘s anger. Not meaning to be harsh with four stars but, rather, to reflect my final impressions of the book.

Good book. I’ll read the third one as the result.. IMO much better than the first book. The author seems to be finding his stride netter here. More authentic feeling this time out.

Captivating. Such a well written and captivating read. Kept me hooked from the go.

CAN’T PUT IT DOWN!!!. Action packed, with a real sense of loss, as you wind yourself through this outstanding thriller.

Wow awesome read. Great book, definitely an amazing read.

Incredible. I couldn’t imagine a better storyline to follow The Terminal List

A great new author. Just finished this book and it is one of my best continued series I read this summer. KEEP THEM COMING!

I’m a True Believer. Jack Carr is on par with Brad Thor and Vince Flynn. Can’t brag enough about his books and his character James Reece.

Boring. I enjoyed the first novel by this author, but this one was unimpressive. No action. Rambling. I finally quit just past the halfway point.

True Believer. I enjoyed this book and wanted to finish it. It seems every page has a section blacked out. About 2/3 into the book entire pages were blacked out. I just can’t finish, it’s missing so many details. I am not sure if this was on purpose, but it is extremely distracting.

Reece Justice. In a world were the wicked go seemingly unpunished, it is refreshing to see justice being served.

Good. Is just me or it feels right to listen to Johnny cash while reading

Yes. Eric xfir

Gotta love the good guys. Always enjoy when the circle is complete with career politicians and scum bag lawyers get theirs.

Good Book. This book is good but the terminal list is better. This character James Reece is going places and I hope to see more books about him. This one was not as fast paced as the terminal list but it did fill in some gaps from the terminal list.

True Believer. Outstanding! Good read.

Yikes….. I’m hooked on Mr Carr’s Writing.. It’s got me back into Reading and Audio Books

Slow, but WOW!. Okay, so this one takes a while to get going. But then it takes off. And so many twists and turns along the way. Thought I had something figured out but I didn’t. Hope the series continues. Action and Human Emotion wrapped up in one.

True Believer Review. Great read could hardly put it down! Can’t wait to read the next one!

Great book! Can not wait to read more!. Great plot and I’m invested in the characters! Must read.

An absolute must-read. I could not stop reading. The attention to detail is excellent. You will get wrapped up in Reece’s character.

Can’t wait for the third book. Superb writing. Book one was hard to put down, this book every bit as great.

True Believer. Fascinating read! Un-put-downable!

Good book. Good book

Great!. Gripping book. Could not put it down!

Outstanding. Carr has set the bar high with this one. Im counting the days to the release of book 3.

Attention capturing. Enjoyable quick read due to the attention capturing writing. Could have uses more action and intrigue but overall good book.

Outstanding. A must read if you enjoy thrillers!

LOVE it. Jack Carr, with just his second novel, has simply blown me away with his talent in storytelling. One of my favorite authors, and True Believer is a book I just bought, am already halfway through, and simply cannot put it down.

Amazing. Jack Carr can tell a story like no other I have read in the past 10 years. Read his books, it’s well worth your time

Jack Carr’s James Reece Character is One of the Best. Strongly recommend this series to any and all fans of Clancy, Thor, Flynn and Barenson.

Outstanding. Outstanding writing and edge of your seat suspense, with an educational flair that reminds me so much of Clancy! Kudos Jack! Keep writing!

True Believer. Exceptional. Jack Carr does not take the foot off the pedal with his story. His character Reece belongs with Mitch Rapp; Dewey Andreas; Scot Harvath; Grey Man and the Nowhere Man.

A slow start. A little bit of a slow start but a decent finish. The social lessons I can do without as well.

Thrilling, Complex and Deep. First things first: Great action and plot! Most “spy thrillers” are focused on how quickly they can transition to the next shoot out scene. Jack Carr stories burn at a slightly slower pace that allows for depth and concern for the character’s human condition. It’s a nice change of pace and keeps you interested beyond the surface action. Highly recommend.

Too Many Redactions. I wanted to rate this book higher but there were far too many redactions. Seemed liked every time you turned the page there was another black box. Eventually you get tired of it. Who is the author trying to impress with his knowledge of black sites and black ops. I know I’m not impressed. Furthermore much of that knowledge is probably in the public domain - we just don’t know it. Come on Mr. Carr. It’s a novel. Make up the sites and units. Isn’t that what novelists do?

Gripping Tale. The storyline kept me engaged and could not put the book down. Highly recommend this book and series. Now onto the next mission….

True believer. Please keep them coming very good book

True Believer. I was so anticipating this read and as I continue to plow through the endless gun details and agonizing minutiae I am so disappointed. The story is good, the characters fleshed out, but the diversions into blah are too distracting. No. No. No. Not worth the wait.

True Believer. Three words…boring as hell. I couldn’t get more then half way through. The constant diversions into unnecessary storylines and endless technical discourse on weapons left me uninterested. Needs better editing
