Tempt Me by S. E. Lund Book Summary

Mistaken identity leads to love in TEMPT ME, the first book in the new steamy contemporary romance series THE MACINTYRE BROTHERS SERIES from USA Today Bestselling Author S. E. Lund:

I thought my life was all mapped out – marriage to my very ambitious fiancé, a career in business writing and a family.

Then I found my husband-to-be in the middle of more than just dictation with his nubile young 'sexretary' Bunni.

That's Bunni with an 'i' just so we're clear.

Brokenhearted, I swore off men in general and office romances in particular. I escaped to Manhattan with the plan of starting a new life on my own two feet, free of my cheating fiancé.

Despite an initial disastrous encounter with sexy bicycle courier Josh, I couldn't help but admire his buff body, sharp mind and sense of humor. On top of it, he was a real gentleman, offering to help me when my life crumbled around me.

Maybe a crass and meaningless relationship of sex, sex and more sex with his hunky and very buff cyclist body would be good enough. He might not be my own Mr. Big, but a fling with him would sure beat another session with B.O.B.

Then I discovered that the sexy bicycle courier who stole my heart was none other than Joshua Macintyre Jr., one of America's richest bachelors.

Not only that, he's also my boss.

Now, I'm afraid I'm going to break all my rules about office romances…

THE MACINTYRE BROTHERS SERIES:

Five brothers. One hell of a last will and testament. Five couples find their happy ever after.

BOOK ONE: TEMPT ME is the story of Josh and Ella's beginning.

BOOK TWO: TEASE ME continues the story of their growing romance.

BOOK THREE: TAME ME follows the couple as they find their happy ever after.

Tempt Me (S. E. Lund) Book Reviews 2024

💸 Want to send money abroad for free?

We transfer money over €4 billion every month. We enable individual and business accounts to save 4 million Euros on bank transfer fees. Want to send free money abroad or transfer money abroad for free? Free international money transfer!

Meh. I did manage to read the whole thing, but zero interest in what will happen in part two. I just don’t care about either of these people. The author tediously relies almost exclusively on inner monologue to develop the story and “conflict.” The conflict consists almost entirely of the facts that they just came out of bad relationships; she doesn’t want to have an affair with her boss; and he is either A) moping and texting to persuade her that a meaningless fling with the CEO is a good idea or B) groping her in the office.

Tempt me. Great love story! Hard to put down! Laraine

D’Ubervilled. Hey, if you love really, exceptionally, overt and flowery descriptions of a romance that need to have one or twelve adjectives knocked off the page, you may like this. You may also enjoy this if you prefer your MMC to be a bit whiny and irritating, or you FMC to be a bit spineless and childish. Esssh.

Easy book to read from start to finish.. Enjoyed texts between Ella & Joshua, wanted them to fall in a lasting love.

Pacing issues. I’ve been reading romance and erotica novels a lot during quarantine and this is the first I’ve, unfortunately, felt prompted to review. This first book was free and the next two are each $5...considering this book took roughly 260 pages to tell barely any story, it’s easy to guess that you’ll only get 1 novel’s worth of story from the entire trilogy, making it one $10 book. Fine, if it’s worth it, but I’m not certain it is. Entire story takes place over 2ish weeks, though it gets confusing, sometimes sounding like 2-3 days have passed only to have them refer to “yesterday” and you realize those 2-3 days were just one day... most other novels would have told in about 80 pages what took this author 260. There are also story inconsistencies pointed out by other reviewers... one I have to point out is how confused I was when Josh and Ella are officially introduced by her supervisor. Up to then everything is fine. Josh admitted his true identity to Ella during their dinner date, and she even said she’d met him in the elevator before....but suddenly it’s him groveling about being sorry he lied about who he was and her not wanting to date her boss...like, you were hesitant but cool with it the night before, what actually happened here? Anyway, characters and premises are likable, but it’s far too redundant and drawn out. Prepare to read the trilogy for 1 story, I wasn’t prepared for that so I won’t be continuing.

Tempt Me. Wish I had know this was not a standalone .

Just Enough. Only thing wrong with this entertaining book is that it’s a cliffhanger. Just enough for a stand-alone the promise of more.

Tease Me!. Not worth it! Misspelled or wrong word choices throughout the book so you have to figure out the word that’s suppose to be there. The characters seem immature for their ages. It’s stretched out to seem like it’s good and a lengthy story but it’s not! Don’t start this BC there is a part two and I wouldn’t suggest paying for it. I read about 10 books a week give or take and I know what good is And this is not! Sorry!

Tempt Me. Loved this story about Ella and Josh. Both suffering from breakup relationships with unfaithful significant others. They seem perfect for each other! Ella’s erotic writing, & Josh’s willingness to act them out was really entertaining. Sadly, 2 more books to read before I find out about their happy ending. I assume there will more coming regarding Josh’s brothers...

Tempt Me. Loved it!

Disappointing to find it was just a teaser. Luckily, I was getting tired of the slow progression of the story. I should have know it was just the set up for the next book. Also the typos, missing words and incorrect grammar were unacceptable.

Good read. I liked the storyline. It was funny, romantic, and sexy. I could not give this book 5 stars because of spelling errors and inconsistencies with dates. Overall a good read though.

Tempt Me. Very good book. Thanks for teasing me! Thank you!

SO SO. It wasn’t the best romance book I’ve read. They were too focused on tiny details. Also the story was strung out. I had to skip over so much of the tiny details to get to the main parts of the story.

Mediocre. Extra slow start

Tempt Me. I liked this book, but found it dull/boring in spots. It was very descriptive throughout which took up many many pages. The coming together of the main characters took awhile. It was choppy and left the reader hanging, which I personally, don’t care for. I would buy the next book if it was out. It being January 2019, and a little late. I did like the characters.

not good. i couldn’t even get through half the book, it seems like it was written by someone very young with not much sexual experience and certainly no insights on manhattan, not worth the download

Excellent read!. Really enjoyed this book, the erotic scenes were very well done, and the characters were developed very well. Would enjoy reading other books by this author.

Good content, horrible grammar. The book and storyline were great, but the grammatical errors were so glaring! Hopefully the others are more thoroughly proofread.

Too Good. It’s not like any of the romantic novels that repeats everything over and over like copy and paste from different books which makes it the best. I rarely give reviews unless the book is really bad or good. And this one is the BEST

Needs a few more rounds of editing. Misspellings. Word omissions and/or disparate words in same sentence. Continuity issues. Poor grammar. Poor character development.

Great idea gone bad. I loved the premise of the book, but wow did it devolve fast. Five adult men in their thirties and late twenties throwing a pity party because they didn’t automatically inherit billions? Eww. I hung in there until he started offering up his apartment, cell phone, and thousands of dollars to a woman he didn’t even know. Then her boss did the same! I’m sorry, but it went beyond rich and spoiled and into La la land. Still, I stuck it out for over half the book, trying desperately to like it, because I felt like the male lead might have some emotional growth, but the more I read the emptier it felt. I will say the author did well enough with grammar and the story point of view. ,have some work will bring a great idea back to life.

Had all the bones of a good book. I was a bit disappointed. This book had all the bones of a good book. The storyline was awesome but the writing was so redundant it was like beating a dead horse. Yes, we know Ella had some reservations about dating her “boss” but dang, we didn’t need to be reminded ever 5th sentence. And when Ella was worried she wasn’t a good social match for Josh, yet her ex was being groomed to be President? 🙄. Finally, aside from the original intimate scene, the others did not did not really match the storyline. They were just sex scenes.

Worth a read. The book is good. Just steamy enough to hook you but nothing where the man is obsessed or creepy. I can believe the chemistry between the protagonists and root for them. Ellas character is a little annoying at time but it’s justified by her background. There were ALOT of grammatical errors but no one’s perfect and I feel like the plot flowed. So I’m reading book 2 even if I have to pay for it.

Tempt me. By S.E. Lund What a great story I couldn’t put it down ! Bookbub

Dreams due come true. I thought I was in love & it turned out there was a difference of the opinion from the opposite sex. Going to New York was the best thing ever. I always dreaming of moving & getting a job in Manhattan, finding real love. It comes when you least expect it.

Half a “book”. Just half a story. Must purchase the ending half. Very slow and repeated thoughts too often.

So much potential.... This story has great bones and could have been great. There were so many unnecessary little details, the back and forth back and forth of her trying to decide if she wanted to be with him, him pushing so hard to be with her (to the point of him nearly being a stalker)... The story practically goes nowhere then all of the sudden, BAM!! I’m in love and we’ve only known each other 2 weeks but I’m dying to take you on an international get away THIS weekend. Yeah, I won’t be bothered with part 2.

Didn’t make it past page 5…. Couldn’t get past the page where she consistently called her ex “jerkface” how juvenile and cringy.

Horrible Writing - DO NOT RECOMMEND. The writing is terrible, the storyline is terrible, S. E. Lund uses tired, sophomoric, misogynistic themes and vocabulary. This book is awful. DNF @ 13%. I skimmed and skipped there.

Tempt me. Fast-paced, exciting, and sexy!

Didn’t want to put it down. I am quickly becoming a fan of S. E. Lund. Too often, the female protagonist is supposed to be strong willed and independent. But is jaded, quick to anger, and many times just annoying (often, conflicts in this genre can be diffused with a 2 minute conversation). Ella was finding her way in life, trying to be independent, strong willed, but she was compassionate and didn’t jump to conclusions and run away at the first sign of trouble. Joshua was not the alpha male typically depicted in this genre. He wasn’t overly domineering or teetering on creepy (stalking, following, etc). I enjoyed S. E. Lund’s writing. Was it perfect? No. However, the story wasn’t filled with boring back and forth and the character’s conversations didn’t feel forced. There was a lot of internal conversation but that’s ok with me because it fit the story. Again, it didn’t feel forced. I gave this book five stars because I enjoyed the characters and storyline. I’m looking forward to continuing this series.

Tempt Me. The author had me hook at page one and hanging onto each page to the end. Love everything about this book. Thank you S.E. Lund for a awesome adventure

It was ok. It was a nice romance but kind of boring and predictable. Seemed like the writer repeated things as filler. This couple doesn’t inspire enough to keep reading subsequent books

Love!. Captivated my attention, definitely recommend

Waste of time. I don’t even know where I wold begin. The terminology was cringeworthy. It was just a disaster from start to finish.

Tempt Me. Absolutely wonderful story. TY

Tempt Me. Great read from beginning to a very very good end

Good. Really good read

Hot hot hot. As Ella and Josh’s story unfolds you find yourself willing them on to happiness. It is obvious to us they would be perfect together but why do some people fight chemistry? This book leaves you wanting more. On to the next book....

Needs an edit at the very least. This book needs a ridiculous amount of editing. I can stand a few continuity mistakes, but there are just far too many. One minute the main character has her social security card stolen, the next page it’s the only ID she has left. Ella turns down an offer for a date and goes to sleep and we move on to the next day, but somehow she ends up in the restaurant. It’s just a constant mess. Never mind the bad dialogue and the fact that every character feels the need to state what they were doing 2 minutes ago. Awful.

Tempt Me. Another good read from Ms Lund enjoyed the ups and downs of the story kept me reading recommend to other readers

Major Plot Continuity Errors. I liked the story concept and the writing was pretty good, but ironically enough the book could have done with a good edit before publication (the story is set in the publishing world). There were some significant continuity errors in the story as well as smaller ones. Rather than spoil the story for anyone who is planning on reading it, on a single page they are due to meet at 3pm, she leaves work at 3pm and then luckily it’s miraculously 2.30pm and she has time to get there. I’d suggest a new proof reader or editor!

Hard to read. I had high hopes for this one but I found the writing style hard to read to the point it became annoying and I stopped reading it.

Could be better. Writing style needs some work. Every second page is very repetitive and the choice of words could have used better thought.

Tempt Me. The title says it all, Great reading romance with hot steamy sexy scenes keeps you turning the pages to see if Josh can win over Ella Recommend reading

Temp Me By: S E Lund. I loved the book it held my attention , I didn’t want to put it down , it the ending was too abrupt . It needed more .

Tempt Me by SELund. I,m totally disgusted with writers sucking money from people only to sabotage their reading enjoyment by leaving the ending off,Especially when said reader was trying all through the novel to enhance the storyline hoping the ending would be good enough to justify the waste of time put into it

Tempt Me. Not a bad plot but story needs some fine tuning, especially some outdated names and phrases like “confidence man”, “bicycle” courier need to be changed, oh, for heaven sake, and why is she making a slide show in 2017? The text banter back and forth is cute, especially his persistent tries to get her to go out with him. He does come off as just another pig in the beginning though. -Anie

Boring book. This book sucks stretched out to make it a series, very boring.

Didn’t/couldn’t finish the book. Introduced to 5 brothers right off the bat so you know this author is already aiming for a series...the trouble is, she is not a very good writer. Take my advise and skip this read.
