The New Girl by Daniel Silva Book Summary

#1 New York Times Bestseller • #1 USA Today Bestseller • #1 Wall Street Journal Bestseller

Now you see her.  Now you don’t.  THE NEW GIRL.  A thriller of deception, betrayal, and vengeance.

She was covered from head to toe in expensive wool and plaid, the sort of stuff one saw at the Burberry boutique in Harrods. She carried a leather bookbag rather than a nylon backpack. Her patent leather ballet slippers were glossy and bright. She was proper, the new girl, modest. But there was something else about her …

At an exclusive private school in Switzerland, mystery surrounds the identity of the beautiful raven-haired girl who arrives each morning in a motorcade fit for a head of state. She is said to be the daughter of a wealthy international businessman. In truth, her father is Khalid bin Mohammed, the much-maligned crown prince of Saudi Arabia. Once celebrated for his daring social and religious reforms, he is now reviled for his role in the murder of a dissident journalist. And when his only child is brutally kidnapped, he turns to the one man he can trust to find her before it is too late.

What’s done cannot be undone …

Gabriel Allon, the legendary chief of Israeli intelligence, has spent most of his life fighting terrorists, including the murderous jihadists financed by Saudi Arabia. Prince Khalid—or KBM, as he is known—has pledged to finally break the bond between the Kingdom and radical Islam. For that reason alone, Gabriel regards him as a valuable if flawed partner. Together they will become unlikely allies in a deadly secret war for control of the Middle East. The life of a child, and the throne of Saudi Arabia, hang in the balance. Both men have made their share of enemies. And both have everything to lose.

Filled with dark humor, breathtaking twists of plot, and an unforgettable cast of characters, The New Girl is both a thrilling, page-turning tale of entertainment and a sophisticated study of political alliances and great-power rivalries in a dangerous world. And it is once again proof that Gabriel Allon is “one of fiction’s greatest spies” (Kirkus) and Daniel Silva is “quite simply the best” (Kansas City Star) writer of foreign intrigue and suspense at work today.

Bones. New Girl has the bones of an Allon story and for the most part motors along at a nice pace. But the novel is never more than workman like and the ending is a bit of a wobbly tack on.

Always a pleasure. Another enjoyable read set inside modern politics with Gabriel Allon and company.

Disappointed, to say the least . .. Not one of my best books by Silva . . loaded with politics, political views, and a Euroasia political game. Regret spending the money on this book.

The New Girl. Excellent! Impossible to put down.

No politics please. The book is fine, but I don’t read his books so I can get his political views. While half of his readers might think it’s funny, the other half don’t. Silva needs to take Michael Jordon’s view on politics and just write books like he did in the beginning of his career or he’s going to loose customers.

The New Girl. Awful. Shame on you Daniel.

Not the best. Somewhat disappointing and predictive....not his best work.......perhaps his politics got in the way?

Better and better. Daniel Silva is my favorite writer in this genre. This book is brilliant, and I think I see a perfectly executed switch from standalone books to a Ken Follett style ongoing drama. My favorite writer delivers perfect action, suspense and drama in this book. My only wish would be that it was a longer book - I mention Ken Follett since there are chronological forward moves I wish were more fleshed out, just as in Follett’s serials. But.... man, what a good read! Highly recommended on its own, and even more so if you’ve read one of the previous books so as to be familiar with the characters.

It’s exactly how you think. Of course Daniel Silva does it again. Outstanding as always. Love me some Christopher Keller and would love a spin off with him and Mikhail. Bravo mr. Silva

The New Girl. I loved this book just as I have loved every book I have read by Daniel Silva. This book was thrilling, exciting, a page-turner and kept me enthralled until the end. It was a book i could not put down until I finished it.

The New Girl. I loved this book! Wow! I am always so impressed with the amazing knowledge of this author! I love the characters who I’ve grown to know through the years. This book in particular helped me process and understand the history and culture of the Middle East. A brilliant artist can also be a spy and great humanitarian at the same time, at least in a book of fiction. Can’t wait for the next thriller, hopefully with Christopher and Sarah too! Wish democratic values and freedom would magically appear in the Middle East, but sadly it’s just probably a hope and dream of fiction.

Author, Teacher, Entertainer. No matter what book you pick up by Silva, you learn something. His stories are captivating, his history and world civics lessons spot on, and his writing continues, even now after so many novels, to grow stronger. A wonderful series, this is one of my more favorite books.

Good read, fun fantasy without reality of mid-east. Sometimes you either need one more sentence, or leave off the last few paragraphs, that was this book. Also, as good as Mossad and Allon is portrayed, sometimes his stunts and lack of support is just stupid. Nonetheless a good read.

The New Girl enters. Rich with detail and very neatly put together. Good job Mr Silva

Excellent Story and Nice Tie-In with Current Events. I’ve read 7 of Daniel Silva’s books about Gabriel Allon. This is my favorite. Don’t understand the complaint from a reader about plagiarism (they must not know the definition of the word) and the other reader who stopped reading after 200 pages, as every chapter was well written and advanced the storyline. I will put it this way, it was such a good read, it makes me want to go back and buy some of the earlier books.

Amazing. May be the best so for in the Allon series. And surprisingly emotionally moving at times. Silva is a master.

The New Girl. Mr. Silvia is an excellent story teller. His books seem to have just the right amount of excitement, sarcastic humor and violence along with an interesting plot.

Recent History or Just Fiction. A fictitious tale that has a storyline that sounds so familiar to actual events of a recent past. Presents scenes that also provide a history and geography lesson. Also interesting Eastern politics.

New Girl. A little slow at times.

Thumbs up. Keeps you on your toes

The New Girl. - Fantastic. This book took you into the world it portrays. Kept you on the edge of your seat every minutes. I simply could not put it down. I did not want it to end. The author is one I have often read and he did not fail in keeping me well entertained again! Great read! Sincerely recommend this venture into intrigue! Enjoy!

Fiction not politics. Mr. Silva, I have read all of your books with great pleasure. However, Your “opinions” and your information gathering with CNN et al left me with a rather nasty taste in my mouth. What I found objectionable was having politics rammed down my throat while trying to enjoy reading a “fictional” book. Sadly, my last Daniel Silva book.

The Next Girl. I was disappointed. I wasn't necessarily looking for a happy ending but was there anything positive about how it ended? The crown prince died, his daughter died.....

The New Girl. Kept reading in a sunk costs mindset and after 200 pages couldn’t anymore.

Bad ending 😡. Other than the last few pages, the book is a solid ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ but the ending was a downer. I love Daniel Silva’s books but, I’m sorry, the world is depressing enough without that ending.
