Fallen Star by Susannah Nix Book Summary

Lights, camera, attraction…

Combative coworkers go from enemies to lovers when sparks fly behind the camera in this Hollywood comeback story.

Scott Deacon was one of the most bankable stars in Hollywood until his drug abuse and out-of-control behavior brought it all crashing down.

Four years after flaming out, he's clean, sober, and trying to revive his career. But what he needs is to warm up the beautiful yet chilly script supervisor who won’t cut him a break.

Grace Speer doesn’t think much of Scotty Deacon. He may be sex on wheels, but the man is 100% bad news. Beneath the handsome facade, he's just another arrogant jackass determined to make her life more difficult.

Only the more time they spend together, the more his flirtatious smiles and sweet gestures break down her defensive walls. As Grace realizes there’s a lot more to Scott than the sordid tabloid tales, she finds herself falling hard for him.

But can she really trust him with her heart? Or is she buying herself another front-row ticket to heartbreak?

Good book. Well written with likeable characters. The plot is well paced and you really get to see the characters and the romance develop as the story goes on. I like how it touches on issues that you don't see talked about much in books.

👎👎👎👎👎👎. Not worth it

Fun heartfelt romantic story. I loved this book!! I don’t like to give up plots and take away from reading this story, but I will say once you start you can’t put it down! The characters are well built with strengths and flaws. With pasts that overshadow some of the relationship they are trying to build - first as work partners and then naturally evolving. Scott is an actor trying to come back but he will have to do some things he is not used to or likes. In spite of this he takes it with great stride and learns from it. Grace is trying to overcome the fact that this project has a lot of potential however the director has cast Scott who she thinks doesn’t deserve the chance and will spoil everything for the entire crew. There is enough tension to give the characters a good start and as you flip pages from chapter to chapter you see this tension just grow taking different ways to where Scott and Grace give each other a chance to see each other’s flaws and insecurities and how much they complement each other. Opposites do attract and they push each other out of their comfort zones which makes them evolve and grow individually. One of the things I enjoyed about the book was that it was so much fun learning and getting a close and detailed look at behind the scenes without going into too much details and taking away from the story line. This is the second title I read from Susannah Nix and she has become one of my favorites! I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book. Enjoyable Read Would Recommend. I received this as an ARC from the author for an honest review. I would definitely recommend this to other readers. I liked the authors take on an actors comeback from frame after a hard fall. I enjoyed the build up of the characters from and almost hate to love. That’s always my favorite. I do feel like it ended a little abruptly and the epilogue could have delved deeper into “where are they now” detail. I love my epilogues.

Couldn’t put it down!. I received an advance copy of Fallen Star by the author for an honest review. Fallen Star is the story of Grace, a script supervisory, and Scott, a recovering drug addict actor on his first movie since being clean. This is a slow-burn enemies (kind of) to friends to lovers novel that has an HEA with no cheating or cliff hanger. I'll start off by saying that I've loved every book I've read Susannah Nix and Fallen Star is no exception. I quickly became a fan of Scott's and was rooting for him to stay clean throughout the entire novel despite the difficulties that arise from being a recovering addict. Grace is a wonderful character as well. She is strong and doesn't depend on Scott for validation of herself. This is refreshing as I've found that can happen. Both characters have their flaws, but it makes me love them both even more. I liked their easy banter and the building of their relationship. It was completely believable and I was not disappointed in the slightest. I would recommend Fallen Star to anyone that is a fan of contemporary romance.

Loved it!. I just loved “Fallen Star”, the second book in Ms. Nix’s “Starstruck” series. You don’t need to read the first book, “Rising Star” to enjoy “Fallen Star”. In fact I read Fallen first and then, because I liked it so much, I went back to read Rising. Full disclosure: Susannah Nix is an automatic one-click author for me, so I’m excited to share my thoughts. Scott Deacon is a former child star whose life and career imploded because of drug addiction. Clean and sober now, friends of his went out on a limb to secure a leading role in a new movie. Grace Speer is the script supervisor for the project, and isn’t looking forward to working with someone who she thinks is going to be a train-wreck. But Scott surprises everyone, and earns Grace’s grudging respect. After a while, that respect turns into friendship. Will their friendship turn into something more, or would life back in the spotlight ruin their chances? Scott and Grace are great characters. Scott is an actor, so he uses his acting ability to hide his insecurities about stepping back into the professional film world. He knows that because of his past, this may be his only shot. On set, he is gregarious, friendly, and flirty, but when he’s alone his demons surface to try to undermine his success and sobriety. I think Ms. Nix did a great job of revealing his insecurities and emotions, and showing how they have the ability to affect his sobriety. Grace is all about the details. As script supervisor, it’s her job to make sure the scene set-ups are the same for each shot (continuity) and makes notes of any script changes. She’s not quite sure what to think about Scott. I liked the way she allowed herself room to adjust her opinion of Scott as things developed. The secondary characters are well-rounded and fleshed out as well. I especially like actress Poppy Carpenter and Carmen Vargas, the costume supervisor. The book’s plot centers around a film set. Ms. Nix filled the pages with all sorts of interesting information and tidbits. Those details helped create a realistic “look behind the scenes” feel to the story. Scott’s and Grace’s love story is a very slow burn. It makes sense that Grace isn’t going to go from thinking Scott is the biggest jerk on the planet to being head over heels in love in just a few days. Their friendship blossomed first over the course of several weeks, and then Grace slowly realized she has feelings for Scott. But she’s unsure of his feelings for her. When they finally do come together, it’s a big payoff for the reader. Overall, I loved it! And I highly recommend “Fallen Star” to you. (I received an Advanced Reader Copy, and this is my honest, voluntary review.)

Susannah Nix it again!. Love this author, and this is another lovely romance. Characters are believable and the story builds and burns and climaxes in all the right ways. Highly recommended for romance readers who appreciate a bit more depth and intelligence without losing the smoulder or passion.

Amazing!!. I absolutely loved this book! I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of this book, however; Fallen Star is fun, sweet and romantic, but also; it is also so raw, real and heartbreaking all in one. My opinions of this book are all my own. A story about two people who are thrown together in New Orleans on a movie set. Add in some angst, humour and a little romance, and what a combination. Grace and Scott are such well written characters. I absolutely love the way Susannah Nix writes her characters and Grace and Scott are no exception. I found it easy to relate to Grace she reminded me of myself, minus the Hollywood stuff. I also found it easy to empathise with Scott and found myself easily falling in love with his character. Seriously! The storyline was just the right amount of slow burn, mixed with happiness, mixed with real life. I wanted to be a character in this book. Also I love a good enemies to lovers romance! Overall I throughly enjoyed this story, I was unable to put it down. It was everything I look for in a book and more. Go out and get yourself a copy.
