A Good Read. It was so interesting and a good quick read! The author paints lovely word pictures. It was easy to get lost in the story. I love the way she describes the books. It was a predictable plot but worth the time! Highly recommend.

Absolutely loved it!. It has an amazing mystery, wonderful characters, and good character arch! 10/10 would recommend to someone.

Not my cup of tea..dnf. This book was recommended by book tuber, a clockwork reader, said if you love howls castle, which I do and ghibli you’ll love this. My taste in book has changed over the years and I’m not into fantasy, magic etc but I thought I’d give this a go. This is very cliché and just plain boring. It was well written just had no interest to continue so I dnf this one. I figured I wouldn’t like it since this youtuber and I have very different taste in books.

Read It.. I usually hate this kind of writing. I adored this book, especially because I am a book lover and the depiction of the grimoires is incredible. READ IT

A great, different kind of story!. A great different kind of story! Libraries, wizards, and books that are alive... what more could a bookworm ask for! Lots of excitement and suspense! Throw in some romance too. I loved the plot, and the beautiful descriptions of all the libraries! That ending though!! I’m hoping this is the beginning of a great series and not just a stand alone!!

An incredible story. Read it. Honestly one of the best novels I’ve read in a lonnnnnng time. The sense of fellowship between the story and reader is undefinable. Beautiful.

NO SPOILERS!. This book was very slow-paced and seemed to drag on much longer than needed. The plot is so predictable I predicted the end at the middle of the book, no joke. The relationships (romantic and friendly) are all cliché. The antagonist is your classic villain with no real drive other than power. I didn’t like Elizabeth or 70% of the other characters. If it didn’t have “violence” (graphic descriptions) I’d guess it’s a childrens’ (8-14) book. The action wasn’t interesting. There was hardly any character development nor world development. There were several mistakes (like random POV switches, which may be hard to see with an untrained-eye but as a independent novel editor I noticed them all). And the dialogue is boring, in my opinion. So, really, the book doesn’t have a lot going for it. The only reason I give it three stars is because I enjoyed the setting and the description. I also liked some of the creatures. If you enjoy forgettable, simple, cliché stories with good writing and a great setting—this is the book for you! But be warned: the first few chapters differ from the rest. It’ll feel like you’re stuck in daily-routines, musty libraries (which I enjoyed), a flawless girl’s mind (Elizabeth), and the same repetitive worries and notions, until finally—you finish the book with the ending you predicted from such a cliché book.

Hard to put down!. This book is extremely well written. And, it’s a fluid read! I definitely recommend this one for Fantasy / Magic lovers.
