Lucky Ce Soir by Deborah Coonts Book Summary

Part of a Complete Series

“Evanovich…with a dash of CSI.” – Publishers Weekly (review of Lucky Stiff)

Death by future mother-in-law.

It’s a thing.

Lucky O’Toole is sure of it. What she isn’t sure of is how to deal with it. In Paris, far away from her Vegas home, Lucky is out of her element and out of ideas.

Especially when a fortune of rare wine is stolen from her fiancé’s family in a daring heist using the tunnels under Paris.

When an unsavory man from Lucky’s past shows up to implicate her in the crime, Lucky is left to debate the merits of a firing squad over a guillotine or…

She could find the wine and clear her name.

Easy…until people start showing up dead and everyone seems to want Lucky’s head on a pike.

Especially the lead police detective investigating the murder and the theft who happens to also be the torch-carrying flame of her betrothed.

Sensing an opening, Teddie, Lucky’s former lover, in Paris to open a musical review in Montmartre, gives her a shoulder to cry on.

A wise woman, Lucky runs, risking life and liver to find the wine and catch the killer before he kills again.

Then, and only then, will she be free to make a choice about her future.

A light, funny, romantic mystery providing a Paris escape appropriate for anyone looking for a good laugh. Get your copy today!

AN INTERVIEW WITH DEBORAH COONTS

Why did you decide to write humor?

I’m not sure I decided to add snark to the Lucky books, specifically to Lucky’s own voice, it just happened that way. When I was a kid, my mouth always got me into trouble. Finally, I’ve found a way to harness the sarcasm for the Forces of Good—or at least in a way not to anger my grandmother. And when Lucky started talking to me, she had a strong dose of sass in her.

The Lucky O'Toole Vegas Adventure series is hard to categorize. Is that by design?

When I set out to write Wanna Get Lucky?, I knew I wanted to write a romp through Las Vegas. I had the characters and the setting but no real understanding of narrative drive. So, I threw a young woman out of a tour helicopter into the middle of the Pirate Show and let the story unfold. A bit of murder to keep the plot moving, some wisecracking and Vegas mischief to make you laugh, and some romance to keep it interesting. A bit of a mash up, but it works.

PRAISE FOR THE LUCKY O’TOOLE VEGAS ADVENTURE SERIES

“Lucky’s story is funny, fast-paced, exuberant and brilliantly realized.” - Susan Wiggs, #1 New York Times bestselling author

“Get ready to win big--with a novel that will keep you glued to the pages all the way to the end.” - Brenda Novak, New York Times & USA Today bestselling author

"More fun than a winning streak in Vegas. Lucky O’Toole is a character with brains, beauty, and a wry sense of humor. Readers will want to meet her again—and soon." - Diane Mott Davidson, New York Times bestselling author

"Deborah Coonts...entrusts the sleuthing to a brainy beauty who sees the lighter side of human folly." - New York Times Book Review

"Las Vegas is the perfect setting for this witty tale of misdirection and larger-than-life characters. Fans of J. A. Konrath's Jack Daniels series will love this." - Library Journal, starred review

“A whirlwind of a kooky crime novel, and readers will enjoy every minute of it. Coonts provides the perfect solution for readers waiting for the next Stephanie Plum book.” - Booklist

Guilty Pleasure. Love these novels! Whether surrounded by VEGAS or out and about in Paris, Lucky keeps me entertained! Keep’m coming!

Lucky stay in Vegas. I love the series but I feel it looses something when Lucky leaves Vegas!

Another Great Lucky Read. I really enjoyed the Paris setting and learning a bit about the wine industry. The plot was intriguing and filled with all the characters I have grow to love and a few new ones for a bonus. While the mystery stands alone, this is a definite must read for all Lucky fans following Lucky and her romantic relationships. Can’t wait for book #11.

Luckily. Just when I was getting frustrated in lack of growth in Lucky’s self-actualization … Growth! Her Character is brilliant & with each new insight she becomes more beautiful. Yes, it’s fiction … but we all learn through our experiences. It’s good to share the journey.

Lucky Ci Soir. Loved this book 📖 & the whole series! Lucky Rocks😁‼️🥰

Bien Fait. When I was in upper elementary school, we would sometimes jump rope “Double Dutch”...a style that requires two long ropes to be turned by two people in opposite directions while a third person jumped the ropes. It was tricky to enter the jumping area, and once you did you had to skillfully jump double time. Lucky books remind me of that...once you enter the story, the pace is fast and tricky. I admire Lucky's bravery and insight into life, and Lucky Ce Soir does not disappoint. It is also fascinating to see her maneuver in new environs as well as learn new things about the fascinating world of wine. Bien fait, Deborah Coonts!

Lucky Ce Soir. The best LUCKY O’TOOLE VEGAS ADVENTURE book I have read. Excellent writing by Ms. Coonts. Great introspection by Lucky and as usual, she is in the thick of it. What does she have to lose - her fiancé, her life, her freedom? Murder and intrigue; who are the bad guys? Who are the good guys? Are there any good guys?

Series Has Gone Downhill. I’ve enjoyed these quick reads and I love Lucky but this series has taken a turn I just can’t forgive anymore- the writing quality has gone downhill. Every sentence is a cliche or an exaggeration and it often feels as though there is no editor or fact checker. No, I don’t expect the books to be R-E-A-L-I-T-Y and they are “throw-away reads” but they can still be decent and well written! It’s hard not to want to throw a book at the wall when you write completely fabricated things about real places- for example, the Bellagio fountains are 8 feet deep and it’s impossible for someone to chase a villain through them! Please, please get a better editor!

Lucky Ce Soir. Lucky will do whatever it takes to find a killer and right a grievous wrong. You will laugh and maybe shed a tear as you root for Lucky as she sets Paris on its ear.

Two or four words, but six is better. Only two words to describe Deborah Coonts’ latest ‘Lucky Ce Soir,’ but I’ll have to make it four: “Love it, love it!” Perhaps I should have said six: “The best!” My staying up to the wee hours of the night to finish reading it was handsomely rewarding. Such a great ending! “I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book that I received from the publisher.” Mardz A.

Lucky Ce Soir. What a fantastic read. With my love of wine this read was right up my alley. I am so glad my sister in law gave me the book to read back when the Lucky series first came to be. If you are just getting familiar with lucky you will love this volume it is full of Lucky getting into trouble, humour, adventure and love. Purchase a copy you won’t be disappointed. Happy Reading

Ce Soir Lucky.. Your book was very exciting and satisfying to read, Ms. Coonts! Every book about Lucky was thrilling. Thank you so much! Irma 🥰🍀⛄️
