Heartwarming💙. I loved this story so much. The imagery and the fun throughout is incredible.

The Best Book I’ve Ever Read. This book makes make heart happy, I’m so happy I found it. I hope there is a sequel because it is absolutely amazing.

Incredible. This book was so incredibly heartwarming. It has definitely made it to my top five list of books. Highly recommend! 🤍

Smiled the whole way through. What charming characters, and such light in a world that can feel so serious and heavy at times. It’s a feel good read!

Breathtaking. One of the most beautiful things I’ve ever read. An incredible story about how colorful the world can be if you open your mind to all its possibilities.

Sweet. This is just the book I needed to counteract all the dark pandemic feelings.

Soul Food. This book will stretch your heart and soul.

why is it so good. This book will make you want a family more than any other book ever has

I didn’t want it to end!. I can’t remember the last time I was so enthralled and captivated by a book. The deeper I got into the story, the slower I read because I didn’t want to say goodbye to these wonderful characters. I’ve read several of TJ Klune’s books and loved them all, but this one penetrated my heart so deeply. I enthusiastically recommend it! (And really hope we get a sequel!)

Amazed. Reading this swept me into the sea alongside the characters. I didn’t want to stop reading but I also wanted to savor the unknown pages as long as I could. I wish all books made me feel and think and see the way The House in the Cerulean Sea did. Lovely.

Would’ve preferred it to be a free book. Thin plot, so so characters, predictable outcome…Should’ve been a free book.

Loved this book. Full of touching moments that warm your heart 🥺

Heartwarming Gem. This is a beautiful book of unconditional love and trust. Easy in prose, difficult in life. The book begins when Linus Baker is tasked to investigate and make recommendations for the House on the Cerulean Sea, an orphanage, on a remote island. However, no one ever goes there to adopt children and so Mr. Baker’s trip is a challenge. Mr Baker lives alone, the same job for 15 years, likely the same house, nothing changes day-to-day. He’s happy this way, or is he? Upon arrival, he is overwhelmed with the beauty of the island. In fact he’s overwhelmed by many things that aren’t the norm. An here begins the story. The story in itself isn’t really new per se, nor are the prejudices and responses of people when something is different and we don’t take the time to understand for ourselves. However, there is a delightful twist in the story that really emphasizes prejudgment, without understanding. This is a magical and enchanting tale. It feels like home where there should be true love, hope, loyalty and trust. Trust was difficult for the children at the orphanage because of previous broken promises, trust and abuse. But one step at a time for all of them brings change that starts quietly and slowly. After all that reading and focus, my allergies flared up and I found my eyes watering uncontrollably, then my sinuses kicked in and I was forced to finish the book with a wad of Kleenex. Sigh ... let’s hope if you read his your allergies don’t flare up. 😉

What a beautiful story. This was wonderfully sweet, and such a heartwarming story. I fell in love with the characters, especially the children. A huge reminder that looks can be deceiving, and never to judge a book by its cover! Beautiful, lavish descriptions as well, I want to live on that island myself! What a great story!

Don’t you wish you were here?. This says it all. I cried at the end. I needed to be reminded of goodness and love. I needed to be reminded what is truly important in this world. “I am but paper. Brittle and thin. I am held up to the sun, and it shines right through me. I get written on, and I can never be used again. These scratches are a history. They’re a story. They tell things for others to read, but they only see the words, and not what the words are written upon. I am but paper, and though there are many like me, none are exactly the same. I am parched parchment. I have lines. I have holes. Get me wet, and I melt. Light me on fire, and I burn. Take me in hardened hands, and I crumple. I tear. I am but paper. Brittle and thin.”

Couldn’t put it down. Beautiful. Inspiring. Absolutely gorgeous book.

Delightful. This was the most delightful book! So sweet and positive and joyful. Absolutely what we all need right now. I loved it.

Easy read. Saccharine, cutesy, inclusive, uncomplicated, unsophisticated. Read this while on vacation with annoying family, maybe it’ll help you appreciate their weirdness more. All in all I was bored but understand why it was recommended, I guess.

Adorable story. I enjoyed this story. I wish the author had shown us a little more about why the supporting characters liked the protagonist so much. I’m afraid we didn’t get the charm Linus was supposed to possess even in his stuffiness. That being said, the story moves easily and has themes of oppression, being othered, and misfits finding chosen family.

WRITE A SEQUEL. It’s so good that I need (ok ‘want’) more! I was completely lost into the world of these characters! I laughed, cried, and self-reflected! Soooo worth it !

Yes. Love that there is lbgtq

🥰. literally one of the most wholesome, pure good books I have ever read, I couldn’t stop laughing and smiling at the kids because they’re just so sweet and adorable, Lucy very commonly made me cackle. I absolutely loved this so much, it’ll definitely be on my favorite shelf! (And I would tip Chauncey and have him be my bellhop with delight ❤️)

💖. 💖

FABULOUS. A wonderful story of love and acceptance!

Wholesome. This book is such an easy read and the story is super cute and wholesome. Helped me get out of a reading funk!

A wonderful comforting and loving read. I have not been moved like this by a story for a while. It is easy to read and follow, while still dealing with some important topics. It’s a comforting and emotional book about acceptance, love, and family, with a twist. I have not cried, screamed, and laughed out loud like this, and I hope you will too.

My favorite. This is, no kidding, my favorite book of all time! It’s heartfelt, funny, I read it in one day in probably like 2 hours or less! The queer representation is great! I love all the magical creatures, the setting, everything!!

TJ Klune nails it.. Fantastic read. Really moving and insightful.

Excellent. A story about finding your place in the world, tolerance for all people, and some magical creatures.

Oh, how I loved this!. It’s a delicious, warm, loving, book of perfection.

A Gem. Truly one of the best books I’ve read in ages.

This book has my heart. It has been a really long time since I have fallen in love with a book, I laughed, I cried, and was totally entertained the whole time. He describes the characters in ways that you can picture them in your head. His attention to detail is amazing. I would recommend this book to everyone!

Love. A beautiful, feel good kinda book.

A delight. Fresh, clever and entertaining.

Like a big warm hug. Starts out slow and a bit gloomy but after the addition of sun, water, and love it blooms into a beautiful (at times even comical) fairytale. Despite its (fittingly) light simplicity, the story delves deep into human emotions and corresponding actions without feeling overbearing. By the end, you feel like you’ve been wrapped up in a big warm hug and that there is still hope for our current world.

Great story, very enjoyable and somehow refreshingly new. Highly recommend!

Mesmerizing in every way imaginable. You’ll want for nothing less than to hop a train to the last stop in hopes to take a ferry to an island which houses a home filled with magical children. Your heart will yearn for the story to continue. You’ll find yourself believing yet again in the hope for humanity and you’ll be warmed by the reminder that love and kindness comes in all forms. By far the most beautiful book I’ve read in years.

Simply the Sweetest. I will be honest, the book started off a little slow for the first few chapters. However, the second you get to the island you become entrapped and enamored by the plot line. The story has so many parallels to today’s issues for those who feel marginalized. The book is extremely heartfelt and I am glad I took the time to read it!

Would give it 5 more stars if I could!!. Such a great book!! Would love to see a second book to continue this story!!! Making it a series! Love love love it! ❤️

Love it to bits.. I was skeptical at first, then thought another Ms. Pedigree book.. but I must admit.. considering my early dislike. I very much love the book. Love how the author portrays it to heart.. Definitely one of my fav books of all time. I would tell anyone to read this book.

Heart warming story about people and places. The story characters were so amazing. The book started out slow but once Lucy was introduced I could not put the book down. Each page I turned reminded me of differences in people and how important respect not judgement is in all lives and places. Loved this book so much. Such a sweet happy ending.

Just lovely. Someone described this book as a hug and I concur wholeheartedly. Just the warmest, coziest embrace of a story. Thank you TJ Kline for blessing us with this lovely world, adventure, and characters. An absolute gem.

What a Wonderful Book!. I haven’t felt this good about a book in a long time. Very well written, with excellent characterizations and an upbeat ending perfect for these less-than-perfect times.

Heart Warming. This book is beautiful, and you will feel at home in its pages.

The House In The Cerulean Sea. Everyone could learn a thing or two from this lovely, heartfelt, enchanting story.

See something say something!. Amazing book! Definitely a favorite, I love all the characters, especially the kids. Not because of their powers but how each of the kids follow their passion, like Talia with her garden and how sal starts to write. The story is amazing, and the plot fantastic! An overall great story! I would love a sequel!

Beautiful. I love the characters and how they grow. I love the sense of hope. And I love the profound bits of wisdom, truth, and introspection.

An instant comfort read. this books is like being wrapped in an eternally warm blanket. I love this book and have recommended it to anyone who will listen to me about it.

Loved This Book. I loved this book. Love is love and that’s a fact.

We need a sequel. First of all it’s so good we need a sequel but then WHAT ABOUT DAVID THE YETI

A MUST Read. One of the best Queer novels I have read in a long, long time. The trope of found family is done PERFECTLY here with some beautiful moments between every little bit of the cast - every character is important to the plot. The subtle and building romance throughout the novel was realistic. Fantastically written. The world building is spot on. Top 5 for sure! I love this book with all my heart.

Best read of 2022. I couldn’t put this book down! Loved the plot, the writing, the characters, EVERYTHING!

Thanks TJ Klune. Not to be dramatic or anything but I would literally protect this book at all cost, it’s too precious for this world.

Amazing!. One of my favourite books of the year!
