SUSPENSE OVERLOAD!. Dani Pettrey has started off her new Coastal Guardians series with a BANG! Be ready to block off some time because this plot is extremely compelling and once you start reading it, you will want to stay with it. Her characters are complex yet come across as very believable. Her descriptive imagery will have you feeling as though you are right where the action is taking place. Her villains and the evil they plan and inflict are totally realistic. THE KILLING TIDE is based on an incident involving the Coast Guard Investigative Service. One of their officers has been killed and another is missing. Special Agent Finn Walker gets his most difficult the assignment to date - Solve the murder and see if any of his fellow CGIS Special Agents are involved! All he needs is the “help” of Investigative Reporter Gabby Rowland (his boss’s sister). He quickly finds out that Gabby is a very “Independent Thinker” and thinks nothing of putting herself in dangerous situations in order to find out what she wants to know. How can he protect her and work his case when someone/or more than one wants them both dead? Do they go their separate ways and hope that that by separating, they will have a better chance of survival? Or, do they decide on a truce and decide to join forces and take out whomever is following them? Also, what will they choose to do about the growing attraction between them?? A truly spectacular book that will keep you awake reading all night! I was provided an ARC of this book by Bethany House and NetGalley. Pettrey has blasted her own already sky high bar into outer space!!!. Oh my stars! I am speechless in the best way, how do I even begin to find the words to say how much I loved this book?! This was my most anticipated read of 2019 and I am absolutely delighted to say that it exceeded all my expectations! In my opinion Dani Pettrey just blasted her own already sky-high bar somewhere into outer space! I loved Gabby and Finn instantly, as well as the rest of the CGIS team, and I can't wait to hang out with them all again! As I have come to expect from Dani's books the suspense in The Killing Tide was top notch, and more times than I can count it got my adrenaline pumping like mad as I breathlessly perched on the edge of my seat! The Killing Tide totally and completely sucked me into its vortex of spellbinding amazingness on page one and would not let go, which delighted me to no end! I loved, loved, LOVED this book and read it in about 24 hours because I could not stop turning pages! I could seriously go on gushing for days about how amazing this book is and how much I loved it! My only complaint is having to wait for the next book in the Coastal Guardians series, but I can be patient because I know it will be well worth the wait! The Killing Tide is an absolute must read for fans of Christian romantic suspense! Seriously, go buy it RIGHT NOW! You can thank me later! ;) This book without question has a permanent spot on my keeper shelf, and it is in my top 5 favorite reads of the year! I wish I could give The Killing Tide more than five stars, because if I could I'd give it as many stars as there are drops of water in the ocean or grains of sand on the beach, that's right: innumerable, and it truly deserves each and every one! Phenomenal Read. Full of the action-packed suspense and romance that Pettrey is known for. The author grabs your attention at page one and keeps it all the way to the end. This rapid page turner will have you on the edge of your seat from cover to cover.

An incredible beginning to a new series. Wow! Be prepared to read until you reach the last page and then wonder how you missed figuring it out. This thriller had me on the edge of my seat, wondering what on earth could happen next. Gabby Rowley is a well-known journalist that has put herself in dangerous positions to get all the facts. In fact, she nearly died for one of those stories. In this situation she should be safe...after all the perp is in jail, right? Noah, her brother, and his team work with the CGIS or Coast Guard Investigative Service. Sent to stay with the team as a precaution, Gabby finds herself involved in an investigation that has so many twists and turns, never mind the danger, that one has to wonder if she will be any safer. I found myself wishing I could take Gabby and shake her, hoping to dislodge her fixation on figuring everything out by herself, no caring about her safety. As she learns more about herself, will she begin to rely on God to lead her? The author has introduced us to a wonderful set of characters that I look forward to getting to know better. Killing Tide. From the beginning you are soon overwhelmed by all the different scenarios and the people connected to them. Half way thru and the dead body count has risen, two of their close friends have also been killed. Gabby is to be protected, she runs head first into getting a story, or climbing out a window all to get a story. Putting others who have their jobs to do, wondering where she is at. A big story put her into hiding, finding her, they want to kill her. The water draws them to enjoy, for others a way to smuggle in drugs that turned deadly. Overall good characters, Gabby and Finn with a romance.
