Murder in an Irish Village by Carlene O'Connor Book Summary

“If Janet Evanovich and Maeve Binchy wrote a book together, [this] would be the result . . . Siobhán O’Sullivan is a character to savor.”—Laurien Berenson, author of Game of Dog Bones

In the small village of Kilbane, County Cork, Ireland, Naomi’s Bistro has always been a warm and welcoming spot to visit with neighbors, enjoy some brown bread and tea, and get the local gossip. Nowadays twenty-two-year-old Siobhán O’Sullivan runs the family bistro named for her mother, along with her five siblings, after the death of their parents in a car crash almost a year ago.

It’s been a rough year for the O’Sullivans, but it’s about to get rougher. One morning, as they’re opening the bistro, they discover a man seated at a table, dressed in a suit as if for his own funeral, a pair of hot pink barber scissors protruding from his chest.

With the local garda suspecting the O’Sullivans and their business in danger of being shunned—murder tends to spoil the appetite—it’s up to feisty redheaded Siobhán to solve the crime and save her beloved brood.

“Kicks off a new series in splendid fashion! If you love cozy mysteries and traveling, then give Murder in an Irish Village a try. You’ll feel like you’ve stepped into Ireland as you turn the pages.”—Fresh Fiction

“A smart whodunnit in an idyllic locale. I dare you not to be charmed by sleuth Siobhán and her siblings, the O’Sullivan Six.”—Barbara Ross, author of A Maine Clambake Mystery Series

“A delightful, funny, fast-paced romp of a book.”—Isis Crawford, author of A Mystery with Recipes Series

Hard to Let it Go. As soon as I placed my hands on this book, I was sucked into it. With action at almost every corner, I loved how realistic everything was, especially with news added everywhere. An excellent cultural example of a murder mystery.

Loved It!. Such great characters! Terrific story. Really enjoyed it and going to read book 2 of the series now.

Very Entertaining. I thought this was a very entertaining book. The author kept me guessing who the killer was until the very end. All the different characters were fun to get to know.

The only thing I. The first thing

Murder in an Irish village. Delightful!

Always a great read.. She can’t write books fast enough! Such a fabulous writer. Her writing provides such a great escape for me.

This is a good read. This was a good read. Keep up the good work! I hope this comes up on the National Library Service for the Print-disabled, a library for people with low vision and blindness. I think others like myself could enjoy it.

Scam. This book is listed as “free this week”. I have been trying to download it for days, and all I can get is the sample. Don’t buy books from this author! It’s a bait and switch!

Amateurish. The only reason I finished it was because I had already paid for it.

New reader of this author. Enjoyed so much that I plan to read the whole series. I found myself laughing out loud. The youngest boy is so fun to have around during a murder investigation. Can’t wait to read more about this special family.

Wonderful characters and story. Even in a different country small towns are the same; everyone knows everyone else’s business. This is a great story with well developed characters and interesting relationships which will keep me checking out more books by this author.

Ok. Maybe a little too long and overly creative … too much detail to make a point… I read it but found it a slow read

murder in an Irish village. Fun to read. Great read on characters reactions, loyalties and relationships. Thisbound the plot into the development of a fast moving story that just begs the reader to go to Ireland and really steep themselvesin the culture of village life .

A page turner. It’s a very good page turner. Thank you

Wonderful mystery!. I enjoyed this book very much. It will keep you guessing all the way!
