Code of conduct. Awesome story,characters, descriptions spot on to take the readers mind into the scene settings. Book held my interest from page one to last page...thanks April White for a amazing adventure.

Real Characters. The storylines and issues are current and relatable. I am glad Shane wasn’t an airhead who was too hard for her own good. Likewise I am delighted to see that Eze possessed emotional intelligence and that he understood the value of timing. It is clear AW paid attention to details- full of historical facts. Even as the different perspectives were presented, I didn’t get lost. Great read - could become a movie

Review: Cipher Security 1: Code of Conduct. Code of Conduct by April White is the third book in the Smartypants Romance series - a set of interconnected standalones set in the Penny Reid multiverse of awesome romance - and is the first book in the Cipher Security series. A story of a wonderfully independent private investigator known as Shane PI and the security guy who is determined to partner with her in more than just the workplace. Set in Chicago on the Security side of Cipher Systems, the romance of Gabe and Shane will have you swooning at his sweetness and honesty and pumping your fist at Shane's straight up feminine awesomeness! The setting for Cipher Systems was fantastic and I'm super excited to see what happens next in the world we first met with Quinn and Janie from the Knitting in the City Series. Loved it! Enjoy!

Enjoyable read. Believable, imperfect characters. Interesting who done it. A lovely dog. All wrapped in a live story. Penny Reid makes a rainy day a pleasant afternoon.

Great book. It was a very good book, but a little long in getting to the details.

Gabriel and Shane. I rarely read a book all the way through, I get bored and skip to the end. I read this one all the way through and will probably get the next in the series. There is lots of humor to go with the action.

Fun read. I love her other books, and this was just as fun and intriguing. I’ll definitely be reading the others in this series.

Slow burn romance with a bit of suspense. Love, Love, LOVE this book!! Code of Conduct reads a bit like a suspenseful urban action adventure with lots of slow burn romance mixed in. Shane, P.I. is a fierce, extraordinary superhero of a heroine. She hides anything that might be considered a weakness and her character really drives this story. Gabriel has to stay on his toes to keep up and there is no way he can fight the incendiary attraction. “Liquid heat. That’s all I was–the sum total of my being. I was on fire and melting from the inside out. Gabriel’s hands burned my face where he held me, his lips singed and his tongue teased mine.” How to explain my FAVORITE thing about this story...? Both the H & h have something in their past that is haunting them and getting in the way of relationships, etc. but while the author reveals the details through the story, she never HARPS on these events. We KNOW and can see the effects of their pasts play out without it being mentioned 800 TIMES!!! “We are full of landmines, you and me. I keep stepping on yours, and mine seem to have hair triggers that explode when I least expect them to.” I’m absolutely IN LOVE with this story, these characters, this author!! Code of Conduct is my first book by this author and I was immediately smitten. The story is truly enmeshed in the Penny Reid universe, seemingly effortlessly incorporating her characters. -5+Stars!-

Top Shelf. What a wonderful author. Just the right amount of words and a good, solid plot line. A mixed-racial couple with one having a leg amputation thrown in plus several hackers, a security company, one or two nefarious individuals up to no good all combine to make an interesting set of characters. I can hardly wait for the next book.

I’m in trouble.... I loved everything about this book and, yes, could not put it down. Only problem: having now discovered the talents of April White, I am compelled to read her other books and, if Code or Conduct is any indication, will struggle to set them down even when I’m supposed to be getting caught up on work! If you love Penny Reid and her Knitting in the City universe, you will love Code of Conduct. It is truly seamless with the rest of the series yet has its own distinctive voice. It’s engaging, intriguing, entertaining and enchanting. I love her style, her use of language and the dialogue is never forced or maudlin. These are fully realized nuanced characters that really pull you in. This one is definitely going into the « To Be Re-read Later» folder!
