A Great Series Starter. I just had the opportunity to listen to the audiobook of Hit and Run and if I loved the story before, the dual narration from Tanya Eby and Patrick Zeller only added to the experience. Ms. Eby has a fine command of the characters' emotions and does a great job differentiating between them. Mr. Zeller has a deeply sexy voice and his narration is spot on for Jake and the others in his chapters. Kudos to both for bringing Ms. Barker's words to life. Freya Barker is a master at crafting intricate suspense plots with hard-working, mature characters as her heroes and heroines. Hit and Run is the first in a new series for the author and it promises to be as entertaining and intriguing as her past series have been. Jake and Rosie's story hits all the feels and keeps the reader guessing until the end who the bad guy is. Rosie's life hasn't been easy and her relationship with her mother has always been tense. Leaving Grand Junction to pursue her dream didn't exactly work out as she planned. Now over forty, she's back taking care of the mother and working nights to make her life work. Being at the wrong place at the wrong time sets her up as a target and a security risk. The movie cast and crew staying at the hotel seems to add not only to her workload but also risks her survival. Jake backstory is as painful as Rosie's: alone at a young age, ex-military, guilt-ridden because of his best friend's injury while deployed, he's never been one to put himself out there. Working movie set security with his best friend and adopted family puts him at war with himself, and the powers that be. Does he finish the job he's hired for or find the truth and protect the little redhead who has caught his eye? The war within himself is as difficult for him as it was in the desert. Jake and Rosie have a ton of chemistry and the suspense plot in this book is so well played and littered with red herrings, it was a surprise when the culprit is revealed. Ms. Barker is beyond compare when it comes to writing romantic suspense and each book proved that. I can hardly wait until her next book is released.

Hollywood comes to Grand Junction. Hollywood comes to Grand Junction Rosie and Hutch have instant attraction that takes a bit for them to act on. Lots of mystery and intrigue. This had me guessing up until the end. Secondary characters are great and hoping to see their stories as well.

Great read. Very pleased with this book I’ve never read Freya’s work before and I enjoyed it completely. Wonderful realistic characters, the growth of the relationship and the storyline with the the murder and the whole thing. It just worked very, very well together.

Easy reading. Not just a romance but part thriller and mystery. I liked the believable storyline. I liked the characters. Dialogue was smooth and relatable. If you like easy light reading with a hint of sex, you’ll like Hit and Run!

Hit and Run. Moves along nicely. Strong character development. LOL—just had to share a few passages with my hubby— balanced the suspense.

Good read. Enjoyed this book and the surprise “whodunnit” at the end. Never saw that one coming. Loved the relationships in the book and Grant was a hoot and a half!!!! Jake and Rosie were a great middle age couple who found their HEA quite unexpectedly, and made my heart full. Wonderful book.

Hit and run. Great read! Good storyline, suspense and dialogue. Loved Grant’s character. The things he said had me laughing so hard I thought I would pee my pants! Looking forward to reading more from this author.

Mystery. This is actually a detective story. Exciting female detective of a certain age, over 40, but vital and energetic. She is starting a new life with a new man but old friends. Worth a try in my opinion.

Loved it. The writing was so good, it was a realistic book, which was great to read in this genre. The guy was macho without being overbearing and the woman was strong and so real. I just loved it.

Enjoyable. I listened to this book on audio rather than reading it and was drawn in from the start. This is my first book by Freya Barker and it will not be my last. Both the narrators Tanya Eby and Patrick Zeller did a good job and certainly added to my enjoyment of the story. This is the first book in a new series so was a great way to be introduced to Ms. Barker’s story telling and is about Rosie Perkins and Jake Hutchinson. Poor Rosie has had a rough time lately and has returned home to look after her mother and works nights at a local hotel. Jake is a security specialist working at the hotel and he is intrigued by Rosie who is equally enamoured with him. This was a a book filled with danger, secrets, lies and surprises. The intrigue and suspense, not to mention the danger kept me on the edge of my seat as I listened to this story. Will the danger and secrets tear Rosie and Jake apart? Will they Jake and the men of PASS be able to put the pieces of the puzzle together whilst flying under the radar or will danger loom and put their lives and those they love in jeopardy ? . There are twists, turns and surprises in Hit & Run as Rosie and Jake follows the clues and I have to say that I was taken by surprise on a couple of occasions.

Hit & Run. Absolutely loved this book. This is the first I have read by this author and I am hooked! Can’t wait to read the next story in this series and more by this author.

Hit & Run. Very entertaining and enjoyable, great story of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. I like that book is about mature,40 something years young. Rosie life is a very difficult . She has come home to deal with her spiteful and critical mother and on top of that she has dementia. Not easy task... Jake is part of a team that are providing a security to a film crew and its stars. Rosie is in the wrong place and becomes a target. The story is about Rosie and Jake but other characters are great too. Lots of action and heartache in this storyline. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Classic Freya Barker and it BLEW ME AWAY!!!. I was soooooo excited to see that one of my Unicorn Authors was starting a new series....and Hit&Run DID NOT disappoint in any way! This first book in the PASS series, is classic Freya Barker and it BLEW ME AWAY!!! I loved every single thing about it! Jake and Rosie are right up there with some of my fave characters from Freya! Their story is full of Freya's signature style...mature couples who have life experience, men who don't expect the "perfect" body and appreciate the curves (and bumps) of a more "seasoned" woman and he's VERY protective (read; ALPHA), with strong women, while both are usually dealing with some difficult, REAL and sometimes heart-breaking issues. all wrapped up in suspense and intrigue that has my heart pounding and brain trying to figure it all out. Jake and Rosie are all that and so much more! Rosie has returned to Grand Junction to look after her Mom, who has Alzheimer's, even though her mother hasn't been the most supportive of her in her life (to say the least) She works as a hotel housekeeper on the night shift so she can care for her Mom during the day. Jake is a former military-now-security-specialist (bodygaurd/babysitter) who has been assigned to protect the obnoxious lead actor in a movie being filmed in Grand Junction, said movie crew are staying at the hotel where Rosie works. When Rosie witnesses an accident involving one of the hotel's guests, it puts her in danger...and puts her on Jake's radar, big time!!! Hit&Run has all the heart, humor, suspense, intrigue and heat that I've come to expect (and LOVE) in a Freya Barker novel! I can't recommend this one, or ANY of Ms. Barker's books, highly enough! Great start to a series. Great start to this series, lots of moving pieces, with well written characters, they are immediately relatable flaws and all and this only adds to the well crafted stories Freya creates.
