His Curvy Friend by Mary E Thompson Book Summary

Ian
Being stuck in the friend-zone sucked. I was done. Blake had been single long enough, and if I didn’t make a move, she’d get together with the wrong man again. Because the right one was me.
Luck was definitely on my side. An online dating site paired us up. It was an opportunity to show her the side of me she didn’t know. The side who wasn’t interested in a fling with half the women in town. The side who wanted something serious and lasting. With her.
I thought about confessing. Telling her that I was the guy she was sharing her secrets with. But keeping my online identity a secret meant she talked to me. Really talked to me. It was worth the risk. Blake was worth any risk.
Blake
Getting dumped sucked. Getting dumped because he thought I was in love with my best friend’s older brother was ludicrous. I did not have a thing for Ian. Yeah, we shared a hotel room when we went to Hawaii, but nothing happened. I mean, I walked in on him right after he got out of the shower.
Water running down his chest.
Hair slicked back from his face.
That stormy look in his eyes.
And the rock, hard…
Ahem, anyway. No, I did not have a thing for him. We were friends. That was it. No one needed to know I still dreamed about what would have happened if I’d closed that door with me on the inside instead of the outside. It was never going to happen.
Ever.

Hard to read. This book had the potential to be great but was overshadowed by Blake’s incessant self-deprecating comments and insecurities. We. Get. It. She’s a little bigger and she’s self conscious about it but it doesn’t need to be emphasized on every other page. Blake & Ian had no depth to them as characters and lacked any real development. Every part of this story focused on Blake being fat and insecure when it could have been so much more than that. I couldn’t help but roll my eyes every time she made comments about herself (which was far too often). Save yourself the read.

Unfortunately the last. I’m not doing

Got home now. Good night is

Curvy girl. Kept me interested throughout. Like stories with realistic women. Good job.

His curvy friend. Good story but way too much sex!!!!

Invested!. I loved Ian and Blake. Their story really sucked me in. Didn’t want to put it down!

I loved it!. Such a cute and fun story that was about a chubby lead without making EVERYTHING about her being chubby. Loved the town and the character. LOVED Ian. Definitely recommend!

His curvy friend. A very good read, thank you

Love Ian can he be mine lol!. Fantastic romance between friends turned lovers! Very sweet and so relatable with the body issues and feelings of my being able to believe in being loved. Can’t wait to read the other character’s stories too!

Loved it.. I love the fact that the story was based on a bigger women and was still able to find live with a sexy man whom she never thought would be with. She just assumed she wasn’t his type. Absolutely amazing.

But. Got it for the week before the

Curvy Girl Gets the Guy!. Friends Blake and Ian figure out how to navigate being together. I loved the character development of Blake- she realizes what’s holding her back from the love of her life. I can’t wait to read the rest of the series!

Intense. Great characters lead each other in a dance of doubt and romance. Entertaining!

Somewhat frustrating. The story had potential, but it was frustrating how Blake was so negative even when Ian tried so hard. He easily forgave her but still made it about sex. Some of the editing errors made it difficult to read.

His Curvy Friend. I really enjoyed reading this book!!! The characters came to life and it was a page Turner!!! + it’s always nice to read about curvy girls, since I’m one!!! They resonate with me!!! Definitely plan on reading more by this author!!!

Couldn’t put it down!. Such a good book, I read it all in 2 days. Loved Ian’s character. And I felt like I could relate to Blake.

D to be. We can go

Curvy Friend. It was amazing really pulls you in won’t be able to stop reading for one second I absolutely loved it I would recommend❤️

Bsiooty. I’m going back to work today so I’m

His Curvy Friend. Interesting love story with characters that make you want to give them a good shake to remove their stubbornness. They finally do get their HEA!

Blake’s repetitive behavior got old really fast. Honestly Blake was super annoying. All the things he had to constantly do and say only for her to basically laugh it off or ignore it was dumb.

Interesting. Wish there was more to the story then just the ending, but otherwise good book. Has many things that relate to todays world I fell like.

Ian & his curvy girl. Couldn’t put it down!

Straight dog water. I gave this to my grandma because she said she wanted a copy. After reading up to page 120, she started having seizures and had a cardiac arrest. The doctors said she was having a stroke after being so disgusted. The only reason this was a 2 star was because the dude at the front looks like Gordon Ramsey.

Not for me. Couldn’t get into it at all

Sucked me in!. I read this in one sitting and tbh I’m sad it ended, looking for more romance as we speak!!

Fat shaming. I can’t tell you how difficult it was reading this book. Books that emphasize a person’s size as a measuring tool for how much they are entitled to be loved feel gross and on the level of self-hate. The self-deprecating self talk she had with herself about how fat she was, how no one could possibly love her and how she was the common denominator for everyone pushing her away was a difficult slog to push through, hoping the book would improve. Especially when she, in fact, is the one doing the pushing away and treating people - and particularly the man who keeps telling her how much he cares for her - terribly. This goes beyond low self-esteem into the sphere of selfish unkindness. Anyone who is not a perfect size 5 should have caution reading this as you may find yourself feeling unlovable, given that thinness and body type is the measurement by which the author keeps telling us determines how much love we deserve. And the main character knows how much commitment someone else is capable of - it’s why she pushed away and rejects the man who has done everything in his command to demonstrate and tell her how much he loves her and wants to be in her life. When the truth is that she stayed in a loveless, easy relationship to pad her own feelings while he stayed single until she became available. The truth is that she was the one acting selfish taking his love and intimacy while not committing, acting cruel, unkind, judgemental, controlling and unloveable. She told the man she professed to love that he was both a liar and unworthy of being loved or being given a chance at love. Come on! Get counselling, seek help, enact the change you need to feel better about yourself - but stop blaming other people for your poor behaviour. Reading that she made him want to cry, to vomit, feeling himself unworthy, is far worse than the ambivalence her ex-boyfriend treated her with. Who acts hot then cold, shutting out a friend and lover for weeks at a time doesn’t make for an empathetic character you want to read about and root for. I want to say “Either accept yourself, take people at their word - do whatever it is you need to do to feel good or at least not make other people fee bad (counselling, put effort into losing weight if that’s what you need to feel better about yourself) - or move on and decide to be lonely. No one deserves to be made to feel like ‘less than’ like that and giving yourself the excuse that it’s because you feel fat is just lying to yourself. That’s how I felt reading the story anyway. On the converse side, his communication skills were not stellar, although when he did communicate, she either didn’t listen to or didn’t believe him - choosing to believe he’s either a liar or incapable of love and commitment. A really great aspersion to cast against someone whom you claim to be a friend to. And while I understand that this may be genuinely how the character felt - rejected, alone, unworthy - much akin to how her alcoholic mother felt, this was a mantra repeated for over 90% of the book (not exaggerating) with static character development. The eventual happily-ever-after felt hollow; almost like you hope for his sake that if he had any self-esteem he wouldn’t take on her brokenness because the future does not look bright with her. I would not recommend reading this if you at all are feeling depressed and looking for a hit of romantic endorphins, or if you in any way have challenges with body weight because you will probably come away from the book feeling worse about yourself.

Too much negative body image issues. I found that this could have been a cute story but I got tired of the main character going on about how she wasn’t good enough for her love. Could have lost out 6-8 chapters of the same run on stuff. Really silly and the ending is so anti-climax.

Very neat. It was pretty good fot a sample! Im even more excited to read the actual book
