No, We Can't Be Friends by Sophie Ranald Book Summary

‘SIMPLY BRILLIANT… I finished the book at 3:40 am and I was so happy that I lost my hours of sleep over this book. One of my great midnight reads.’ Book Reviews by Shalini, ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

He was perfect. Denim-blue eyes, a dazzling smile. And he hadn’t sent me a picture of his junk. Which is about as rare, these days, as a Dodo.

When Sloane met Myles, everything fell into place. He loved a Martini almost as much as she did, shared her passion for four-cheese pizzas, and made her laugh harder than any episode of Friends. She’d found The One at last and she could finally delete Tinder, forgetting all those waste-of-space men she’d never have to date again.

But then she finds out that Myles has a secret. A very big one.

The fairytale is over. Her heart is blown to smithereens. Drowning her sorrows in Ben & Jerry’s can only get Sloane so far before she has to decide… Can she learn to love herself more than she loved the love of her life? And what if, after everything, she’s got Myles – and his secret – all wrong?

No, We Can’t Be Friends is a brilliantly relatable, hilarious and feel-good novel that every woman with a waste-of-space ex HAS to read! If you’re a fan of romantic comedies by Sophie Kinsella and Lindsey Kelk, and TV shows like Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and Jane the Virgin, pick up this laugh-out-loud book – you won’t regret it.

I only sampled it...read more. I loved it I really wanna buy it but I can’t so I’ll try on my school iPad because I am a kid but I am weird I love books with romance and sex and I’m 10 years old about to be 11 in May 21 2020 and I’m in 5th grade and ima give you the date it is right now February 13 2020

Unoriginal. Too many sexist tropes. I couldn’t finish it.

Easy read. This was an enjoyable book to read poolside. Loved the characters and the story.

No, We Can’t Be Friends. Couldn’t put it down. Absolutely loved this book. I could absolutely relate to the characters.

Boring. I found myself hating this book and struggled to finish it. Truthfully, I just skipped to see the end about half way through.

No, We Can’t Be Friends. This was one of the best books that I’ve read in a really long time, and I read a lot!! I cannot wait to read “Sorry Not Sorry”. But alas, I must get ready for work now!! Thank you , Sophie for writing such a great story!

Wowed. The story was funny and interesting. So much was happening with the characters and the author makes it all work out. I felt like I was reading part of my own life story with a cheater and a liar. Glad everything worked well for everyone.

Amazing!!. Funny, hilarious and very relatable! I enjoyed it from beginning to end.

Couldn’t put it down!. What a wonderful story of love, heartbreak and surprise! I couldn’t put the book down and found myself reading for hours at a time. Easy to read and a very believable story that held me to the very end. I will be searching for more of your books to read! ❤️

Sooo good. Really well written and I loved the story line. Would love a sequel to it but I know that sometimes the mystery of what happens next is the best part. I have withdrawals from finishing it.

Meh. I give this a 2 because I just started reading it and it’s super boring and doesn’t have very much excitement in it.

Great story. It wasn’t what I expected, but it was very good. A page out of real life’s moments. The characters were real, I found myself being in the story, relating to all of them, as the story unfolded. I highly recommend this book.

Boring. It was just...bland. Not good or bad I guess. I know it’s very hard to write a book but it was boring and it held my interest for about 10 min. Also not funny at all. Okay if I’m honest, it was pretty bad and was sort of like read a crap magazine article that was super long. By the end I was just forcing myself through and in turn ended up hating it for wasting my time and money. Just, just read the sample.

Awesome!. I only sampled it but I could tell it’s a great book. One of a kind

Kritivk. This book was a award winning book amazing

No, We Can’t Be Friends. Absolutely terrible. Extremely slow, not funny, and uninteresting characters. So disappointed after having read the reviews.

Lovely book! Nice to meet characters who have depth, flaws, and backbone.. I really love books with mature characters… ones who are flawed but persevere and just get on with life no matter how messy. The author does a great job of putting you in the protagonist’s shoes allowing you to feel all the hopelessness, as well as the hopefulness. Really a well turned out book. Enjoyed it immensely.

Awesome book. I think it was a great book and I also think that the characters were pretty good.

Ehhh. It was just okay...A quick read. Not much else to say.

Terrible. Misleading synopsis on the back . Never does it mention it’s about a couple whose married and getting a divorce for half the book. I would have never bought that. Not funny. Didn’t even bother to finish it. Literally hated the story.

No, We Can’t Be Friends. I love this author ! Every book I have read by her has been a five star read for me. This one was a more serious book, not a lot of humor, so if you are looking for laughs you won’t find it here. Just a very believable and well told story. So many wonderful characters in this book too with stories of their own. No overly descriptive sex or foul language either. Awesome read Ms. Ranald !

No We Can't be Friends. Calling this story a "comedy" is so shallow I wonder if the author is just basically cruel! Anyone who has had any of these things actually happen to them certainly didn't laugh about it. The emotions so carefully detailed were right on, But, funny????

Brilliant!. I love Sophie Ranald’s books. They involve the ups and downs for life and the vital support for and from other women that’s allows for women to grow into their best selfs. I love how the that is the primary focus and the main character falling in love is the last piece of the puzzle. I always finish her books proud of the main female character. All her books are worth reading and in order!!

Funny???. Yea no this isn’t a comedy it was blah blah blah I honestly got board and skipped a couple chapters until she figured out her husband was cheating. How do I get a refund???

Unorthodox but good. It was slow to get to the new romance but i think that is part of why I liked it so much. It was raw. It was real. Maybe a bit quick to end finally but there were so many moments that were storytelling gold that it wasn’t even really about the romance.

Fun, easy read. A nice easy read that will make you shout “YES WOMAN” at the pages.

Amazing. Loved reading this book and getting to know the characters from different perspectives.

Excellent!. A great follow up to Sorry, Not Sorry and It’s Not you, it’s him - if you enjoyed either of those, you’ll love this too

Another amazing book. I just want to say thank you to Sophie for writing these incredible books. They always end perfectly, I love the detail you go into and the fact that you write about the aftermath of the main story so you’re not left wondering. I absolutely love it that you’ve written whole books about characters from previous books and how the stories intertwine. Once I start reading your books I genuinely can’t put them down. In every one, I laugh out loud, cry and sit on the edge of my seat. Thank you for writing, pleeeease keep doing it!! ❤️❤️❤️

Good read. A nice easy read, got through it so fast- good story line!!

A great feel good story. This has been the first boom I’ve read in a while and wanted something easy to read. This was exactly what I needed - funny, sad and heartwarming all in one. Thanks for renewing my love of a good old love story!

Boring. Couldn’t be bothered to finish it!

Great girly read. Nice easy read! Normally go for psychological thrillers, makes a nice change, had me hooked Nice, light, easy going read

Liked this book but didn’t love it. I liked this book, but I didn’t love it. I personally just felt like the various sub stories didn’t run together smoothly. I also wanted the protagonist to have been stronger willed. I found her a bit frustrating at times in all honestly. I did really enjoy the twists and speculation element of the book. It was cleverly thought out by the author.

Brilliant read. Heart warming book that made me laugh and cry inside Well worth a read

Boring af. It was clear from chapter 1 what had happened but it was so long and drawn out with no clear direction as to what was going on. Could bare to bore myself more and finish it

Don’t bother. This book is unreadable. Unnecessary backstory halfway through a conversation with people that has no payoff. 11 chapters worth of faff and nonsense when it was incredibly obvious to the reader what was going on. Then it takes so long for her to get her act together that you’re already bored by the end. I was a slave to my minds obsessive completion antics, so while I slogged through this till the end, rest assured you guys shouldn’t feel the need to even begin

It’s a little inappropriate. It’s a really good book but I’m naturally not into all that inappropriate stuff. It’s says a lot of swear words so I recommend you reading it at the age of 12+ it’s says things too.

Not as advertised. Not romantic or funny. Disappointing.

Honest review. After skimming through some reviews I thought I’d enjoy this book. All I can say is some people must be easily pleased literary speaking. Not only did I not ‘laugh out loud’ as the reviews suggested I would but it became a chore to finish-only done due to the hope it might get better. The lead character was described as a ‘kickass woman’, it was soon abundantly clear the author had never actually met one of these. She was so frustratingly pathetic it made it impossible to be empathetic towards her. I’ve never given a negative review in my life but I truly felt deceived by the blurbs that I’ve learned not to trust. On a positive note I’m considering writing a book, I figure I couldn’t do any worse than this and obviously poor fools like myself will shell out their hard earned cash for it. The only emotion it evokes is when I think of the time wasted reading it that I’ll never get back.

Not even mildly amusing let alone LOL. This was a chore to read to the end. It took ELEVEN chapters for her to find out he was cheating - and an equally painful number more for her to grow a set and walk away. I love chick lit and this looked like a light hearted rom-com, but this author needs to spend some time investigating what makes chick lit appealing - it’s definitely not the absolute drudgery of this book.

Pretty boring. Not sure where the comments come from to say this book was hilarious. Mostly boring, skip a lot of pages that stretch without any interesting happening. I said if you like it good for you. Sorry dear author but you missed the funny.

Just meh. Kind of redeemed itself at the end but the book was mostly depressing and not much of a rom com
