Dragonfire by Ted Bell Book Summary

Alex Hawke, British lord and gentleman spy, is looking for the Queen's missing grandson, whose disappearance may be the culmination of a plot almost a century old in this breathtaking new adventure from New York Times bestselling novelist Ted Bell.

December 8, 1941, Washington, D.C.
The new Chinese ambassador to the United States, Tiger Tang, meets with President Roosevelt one day after the attack on Pearl Harbor. For the next four years, China and the U.S. will be wartime allies, but the charming, sophisticated ambassador may be playing his own treacherous game.

Today, The Bahamas
Alex Hawke is recovering from serious injuries incurred during a battle with a malevolent enemy. His recuperation is interrupted by a desperate call from the Queen. Her favorite grandson has disappeared in the Bahamas. Lord Hawke is the only man she trusts with a mission this sensitive. All she knows is that the young prince was last seen at the exclusive Dragonfire nightclub owned by the nefarious Tang brothers, grandsons of Ambassador Tiger Tang.

Dragon Fire. Skips all over the place. I won’t be purchasing any more books by Mr.Bell. Will focus on Ben Coos in the future.

Ted Bell Dragon Fire a Waste!. I’ve read every book in the Hawke series by Bell and enjoyed them all, until this one. The plot is lame! I think Bell is running out of good story ideas.

Dragon Fire. I was looking forward to reading this latest addition to the Alex Hawke series. Unfortunately, it did not live up to even the modestly entertaining level of Mr. Bell’s previous books. This book is possibly the most disjointed, poorly developed and under researched work that I have ever paid to read. While it is clearly fictional, one would expect at ,east some level of correctness in global geography, historical events or technology, regarding people, places or things referenced in the book. Jumping back and forth between 1941 and “present day” could have been interesting but after doing this for hundreds of pages, it never ties back together leaving the reader to wonder, “what was that about? “. Many parts of this book appear to have been added as an afterthought and it ends up a jumbled unintelligible mess, resembling a first draft in a high school writing class. I did get a laugh when the author acknowledged his lifelong editor, as it appears this book was never seen by an editor prior to release.

Dragonfire, not up to previous standare. Out of the 750 plus pages of this highly awaited pre-buy book by one of my favorite authors about 200 pages could easily have been eliminated. Such descriptions of clothing from Seville Row, wines, sterling silver from god only knows where, and page after page of adjectives that had nothing to do with anything except adding pages to the book! A gilded dresser mirror, detailed description of his smart uniform and so on and so on. I read a lot of a sales pitches for high end on-line purchases. Amazon anyone! Disappointing and very different from all his previous books. I will be careful with his next book and read ALL of the free pages before committing to buying it. I did, however, like the book when Mr Bell stuck to the two stories he was telling.

The writing simply is up to snuff. I used to love Ted Bell’s Hawke series, that is until this latest installment and its immediate predecessor- they’re no where near as well written or enjoyable. In fact, they’re so badly written I wasn’t able to enjoy reading either novel. Having read the entire series up to this point it’s a serious disappointment.

Great read. This book was a huge improvement over Ted Bell’s last book. Very interesting with a historical theme along with current timeline theme. Both theme lines were interconnected which enhanced my interest. Well done!

Lie. Fri

Dragonfire. May be the worst book I’ve ever read

Details Amiss. The Pentagon didn’t open until January 1943. Stokely Jones should be about 65. Or more if he fought in Vietnam. No chance that the injuries described produced the recovery in so short a time for Hawke. Or the Prince. Grenade launchers don’t send RPG rounds out of their tubes. Volvo IPS 650 engines are inboards not outboards with forward facing propellers under the boat keel. A little editing and fact checking goes a long way. Fun story.

Dragonfire. Usually like his books guess wasn’t in the mood tedious to listen to. Realized Hawke wasn’t dashing just a male dog

DragonFire is ON FIRE!. Skyrocketing to the top of the best seller list and small wonder, it is the best of Ted Bell’s Alex Hawke series. As a teaser, Ian Fleming makes an appearance as Hawke’s grandfather and Fleming parachute behind German lines to commit horrific acts of sabotage against Hitler and the Nazis. That is just the beginning. Read it at your peril!
