Rules for Dating your Ex by Piper Rayne Book Summary

If your ex arrives in your hometown eighteen months after you walked out on him while you were eight months pregnant, follow this short list of rules before you give him a second chance.

Rule #1 – Don’t stand in the way of your brothers who want to rough him up.

Rule #2 – Don’t meet him for coffee and agree to allow him to meet your daughter.

Rule #3 – Don’t drool when your daughter falls asleep on his chest for the first time. It’s just your ovaries talking.

Rule #4 – Don’t let him hold your hand. While we’re at it, no hugs, no kisses on the cheek… just no physical contact in general. That only leads to remembering better times.

The last one is the most important…

Rule #5 – When you find yourself needing someone’s help and you’re tired of always asking your family, don’t let him be the one who’s there for you.

Because all those good qualities of his will suck you right back in and you’ll have no chance of fighting your feelings, especially now that he’s ready to be a father to your daughter.

What a finale to a fantastic series. Not gonna lie readers...I went into this story with a broken heart. A broken heart because I knew this was the last story in the Bailey series that the dynamic duo of Piper and Rayne has gifted us with. This is Sedona and Jamison's story and what a beautiful story it is. Now we knew there was some mystery and drama concerning Sedona's second pregnancy, but when the story unfolds, it's gonna make you weep (I know I did). It was beautiful to read Jamison's interactions with Palmer.  How he took apologizing and groveling to a whole new level of swoon.  With some help from other family members, he was able to right the wrongs of his past. Sedona is just lovely, I loved her dynamic with Phoenix and her dynamic with the whole Bailey family.  Her trust in Jamison is moving to read and the ways that she made it whole again was brilliant! Now I am going to go sit, relax with a box of tissues, and weep at the beautiful happily ever afters, laugh at all the antics of Grandma Dori and swoon at the love that all the Baileys have for their significant others and their children.

Great end to a fun series. I was both thrilled and sad to read this book. This is the ninth, and final, book in the Bailey’s series of books. I have loved this series from the first book and am sad that we won’t be seeing the Baileys front and center any more. The books center around the nine siblings in the Bailey family. When their parents were tragically killed, the two oldest decide to raise the family themselves. Each of the previous stories are a different romantic trope (oops, my one night stand is my new boss; younger brothers best friend; surprise baby, etc.). This is a wonderful second chance romance with Sedona Bailey and Jamison Ferguson. In the prior book, Sedona left Jamie when she was eight months pregnant, because of his drinking. Jamie turned to drinking after an injury ended his professional soccer career. It is now 18 months later, and Jamie has returned to Lake Starlight. He has been sober for a year and determined to make amends and win back the love of his life and his daughter. I loved Jamie and Sedona, and their story may be one of my favorite in the series. While I suppose this could be read as a stand-alone, you will really want to read from the beginning to really appreciate the Baileys. I received an arc of this book from the author for my honest review.

Great end to the series!. One of the best family series has come to an end! Rules for Dating Your Ex is the final book in the Bailey’s series and what an end it was! Jamison and Sedona’s story was one of redemption and an unconditional love that brought them back to each other after so much heartbreak. The pain and anger in this story broke my heart but as always, Piper Rayne put my heart back together. I loved everything about this story!

Rules for Dating Your Ex ( Lake Starlight Alaska book 9 ) by Piper Rayne. As usual I love this series of the Bailey family and the story of each of the nine siblings after their parents death . This is Sedona and Jamison’s story , they met and fell in love with each other when Jamison an exchange student from Scotland came to Lake Starlight Alaska . Jamison was a professional soccer player but was injured and that ended his career . Sedona was pregnant when Jamison was injured and he started drinking , at eight months she left him and went home. Find out how they found their forever.

Guarding her heart. Reading Sedona’s story has been bittersweet. I know it’s the end of the Bailey’s and I have come to love them so. I can’t imagine the pain Sedona endured walking away from Jamison. She’s doing what she has to in order to protect her baby. That mama bear in her has taken over. All the months that pass she is erecting walls around her heart so she can’t be hurt again. Jamison has worked so hard on his sobriety to get back what he has lost, the love of his life. What he sees when he first walks in on her throws him for a loop. Is it too late? Will her family even let him get close her? In true Bailey fashion rest assured that Grandma Dori will insert herself right into this situation and we wouldn’t have it any other way. Thank you Piper and Rayne for sharing this wonderful family with the world!

Dating. To be honest I hate book that go to the then and the present I don’t know why but I just fell like if you gonna make a book just make the book in the present but this was a really great book I just hate and ever couple of chapters to read about their past. Great ending to the series!. Sad to see the series end but it was really good! Wish there was an overall epilogue book that showed the family in 10 years or so with a family tree. Great series!

The End of an era. I read ‘Birth of a baby daddy’ first and fell in love with the characters in this series the moment I started it. I admit that I enjoyed the first set of books from the series more than I enjoyed the latter set of books but it was always nice to see my fave characters appear again in all the books. The ending of this book was really sweet and I’m happy we got to know what happened with everyone else. It’s been an amazing series with well-layered characters, funny moments, and emotional moments. I’ll miss the Bailey family and I can’t wait for the next series from these authors.

An emotional second chance romance. This story, seriously aaaaallllllllllll the feeeeeeeeelllllllsssss and yes those words had to be elongated like that to make my point. Book 9 and the end of the Bailey clans books, which I have to say, breaks my heart. I have lived and loved every happily ever after in this series, though Holly and Austin’s story seems so long ago, it has actually only been 2 years since the beginning, and it has been extra special to see their family grow as the series went on. Talking of Holly and Austin, in their story Sedona and Jamison were in high school and had just started dating. Years later Jamison has had a failed professional football career, and an addiction problem after his dream was ripped away. Sedona, heavily pregnant with his daughter, returns to her family alone. 18 months later, Jamison has gotten clean and has returned to claim his family, the true loves of his life. I adored and appreciated the jumps back to the past to get insight into Jamison and Sedona’s relationship, how it all began, and where it all went wrong, all the parts we had missed throughout the series. I completely fell head over heels for Jamison from the very first page, he was struggling, anyone could see, but he was facing his demons and admitting his mistakes whilst trying to do all he could to prove he has changed. Sedona is one of the strongest Bailey’s, though she is one of the quietest and most reserved, she left when it would have been so easy to stay, she is determined to do the best she can for her daughter, whether as a single mother or letting her daughters father back into their lives to have a relationship with her, and isn’t afraid to admit she couldn’t cope and needed her family’s support when her daughter was first born. Sedona still loves Jamison, but she doesn’t trust him, she wants to be his number one priority, but doesn’t believe she can be. Jamison made a mistake letting them go once, he knows how it feels to lose them, and it’s much more painful than losing his career. His battle with alcohol addiction is something he will have to live with for the rest of his life, but he is doing everything he can to prove to his family that it won’t beat him again. With the revelation of who has been running the infamous Buzz Wheel, as well as the happily ever after for the whole Bailey clan, this story is the perfect ending to the series. As always, there is the ever present meddling from Grandma Dori, which is hilarious, especially when the whole family ambushes Sedona at the beauty salon. With laughs a plenty, along with a bucket load of heart and soul, this is undoubtedly my favourite book of the series, and I cannot wait to see what’s next.

Every story has an ending.. I was crying when I reached the end of Rules For Dating Your Ex by Piper Rayne, not just because of the emotional finish, but because it really is the end of the ‘story road’ for the Bailey’s of Lake StarLight. Sedona was the last Bailey to find her happy ever after, and it was a tangled, emotional love story if ever there was one. Sedona met Jamison right at the beginning of the series and they fell madly in love. But, while she went to college in New York, Jamison returned home to play professional football. Eventually, they were reunited when Jamison arrived in NYC to play soccer there and for a time, it seemed all was right in their world, until book 8. Sedona came back to Lake Starlight… pregnant- and alone. Her big love affair was over and done with. Or so it seemed. Sedona has been mentioned at times, been present at others and only a text or phone call away for the rest in every single book in this fabulous series. But now, she gets to shine the light on her past with Jamison, show us the guy she originally fell for and in time, the one she’ll fall for again. After suffering an accident, Jamison let his frustrations with his lot in life get the better of him and he lost not just his career but his love too. Eighteen months later, he’s ready to be the man… and the father he should have been, but will Sedona give him the chance? He hurt her badly and she’s wary of letting him in. But, her daughter, Palmer, needs her dad. It’s the only reason she allows him to get close. This book had all the feels. It’s angsty, heart-warming and it’ll make you cry. You’ll smile too, if bittersweetly as the end is reached. I think Piper Rayne has kept the best until last, as this book filled every nook and cranny. It’s not to be missed that’s for sure.

Life throws you curveballs. The path to true love is so worth it!. I loved this book. Sedona’s and Jamieson’s story made me laugh and cry. Life throws you curveballs but finding true love is so worth it! I am so glad Sedona, Jamieson and Palmer have their happily ever after and are united as a family.

Loved it. I have been early awaiting Sedona’s story but knowing that this is the second to last book in the series, it was bittersweet to start this read. To me the Bailey’s have become like a family to me, I have become invested in their lives and it’s like coming home when I pick up their books. Piper Rayne write strong characters that are so easy to relate to and they are not afraid to show them in all their flawed glory. Sedona and Jamison’s second chance at love story and the journey that they embark on show this perhaps more than the other stories in the series have. I was hooked from the first to the last chapter and there were plenty of surprises. I admit that there were times that I really disliked Jamison, it really took a while for me to warm up to him. However, such is the writing of Piper Rayne, they managed to turn my opinion around and I ended up admiring all that he did to prove he had changed. Sedona really came into her own in this book, she stepped up and I adored her relationship with Palmer. Can Sedona and Jamison come to terms with the past and take another chance that this time things will be better? I love that you also get to catch up with all the other couples as well and get the latest gossip from Lake Starlight, Alaska.

Loved everything about this book. What can I say that hasn’t already been said about Sedona Baileys story apart from it was everything I expected and so much more, this was the book I have been waiting for and I wasn’t disappointed. This is the second to last book in the series and that means the Baileys are coming to an end, I’m sad to say goodbye to the family I have come to love like my own family but rest assured this series will be read and re-read because I will never grow tired of this family and residents of Lake Starlight, Alaska. This is Sedona and Jamison’s second chance at love but it’s going to take a lot of hard work for Jamison to win the girl and convince her family that he is a changed man. I love Sedona but I have to admit at times I disliked Jamison but as I turned the pages and this man opened himself up I grew to love the man trying to fight his addition and win the love of his life back. This wouldn’t be the Baileys without some meddling from family members and it certainly has some laugh out loud moments but it’s the whole package that makes this a great read, it’s the story, the strong writing, the characters, the chemistry and the witty banter that make this book one of my top reads of this year. I loved catching up with the residents of Lake Starlight and I’m excited for the final instalment into their life’s.
