Newest obsession. I’ve always been a fan of Christopher Paolini‘s books. I mean I’ve read the Inheritance series more times than I can count. But this book had me OBSESSED. If you are a fan of sci-fi, this is the book to read. It scratched an itch in my brain I didn’t know I had. INCREDIBLE

Mind-Blowing!. Mind-Blowing! Wow, I have no idea what to write in a review of this astonishing story. You just need to read it, but I will try. Okay, Christopher Paolini has been working on this project for like nine years, the details and every aspect of this story was perfectly planned and it definitely shows the amount of work behind it. I've been a fan of Christopher Paolini since Inheritance Series was first published. I was waiting for this book for a while and I was more than excited when I got the honor to review this title. This story is a first contact sci-fi type of story, you get fantastic characters, starting with Kira Navarez. I was so enthralled by the story, how the author added some humor and banter into the story. This book is big, and I love big books and I cannot lie, almost 900 pages, and definitely didn't feel like it, when it's a good book and you get hooked time flies. The audiobook is so well narrated, I was expecting a group of narrators, but Jennifer Hale did a fantastic job, so kudos to her, I am looking forward to what she does next for sure. Brilliant story I am hoping to watch on the big screen someday!

Excellent Book. This book might start a little slow, but a great read really the whole way through.

Paolini’s best work. Very few books keep me glued to the pages like this one did. Exciting from start to finish.

A Beautifully Written Sci-Fi Odyssey. To Sleep in a Sea of Stars is a beautifully written book. It tells the story of a woman who discovers proof of sentient beings on a planet her team is preparing for colonization by humans. After her discovery, she is thrust into a whole new world where she must ultimately save the universe from destruction. The story is dense and there is a lot to get through, but it is also a fascinating world created by beloved fantasy writer Christopher Paolini. The characters are interesting and diverse and the journey they embark on is one that will stick with me for years to come. This novel has everything you want in an epic novel: adventure, fun and interesting characters, emotional depth, and gorgeously written prose.

The book is real good.. Absolutely stunning storytelling from an outstanding author. Paolini’s detailed world building, finely tuned character development, and impressive science fiction concepts create a gripping narrative in a world teeming with atmosphere. The first few pages felt a little slow, which I’ll attribute to my insatiable need for this to have been another Inheritance book. Give the first few chapters a chance and you’ll quickly reach the book’s Markov Limit, with enough excitement and energy to send you spinning across the stars.

Ruined at the halfway point. Honestly, I was hooked. Great story. And then this zinger from out of nowhere. Like "oops. I need to clean up this mess" and change direction. Seriously disappointed.

Pretty bad and pretty good. For the most part it’s a good book. However it’s a book in space it does this thing where the characters have to know where they are going before they start to head there. This makes it feel like the book is telling you what’s going to happen 3 chapters before it does. Compounded by the issue that the conflict is mainly centered around McGuffins or large scale events, making for at most 2 possible outcomes. The book does a great job of exploring alien worlds, the plot was not my favorite, and events sometimes happen just to happen. Overall good, but a little disappointing.

Cannot wait for the next one. Absolutely amazing book. Cannot recommend more. Grew up reading the inheritance series, and absolutely loved them. This is as good or better. Paolini is a master of his craft

A sampling of current Sci Fi tropes. This book while entertaining enough reuses ideas from the past 10 years of hard sci fi without any of the backstory that made those ideas interesting, reading it I couldn’t help but feel the author has read many of the same books as a lot of us Sci fi fans and everytime he came across an interesting concept he watered it down and threw it in. Perhaps as a first foray into science fiction it would be good as it would very quickly introduce readers to new concepts they could then discover in more thought out detail in other books but I also found that it could easily be edited down by 1/2 and still be dragged out. I would recommend anyone read Neal Asher, Alistair Reynolds, Greg Egan, Hubert, Banks, Bear or Hamilton first and onlly attempt this one out of complete bordom.

To sleep in a sea of stars. This is an outstanding novel. You MUST continue reading through the first 15% of the book so that you can allow the plot and characters develop. Can’t wait for the second book!!

Flat. I’ve been a Paolini fan since Eragon came out, and was excited for this book to see what else he was capable of writing. It’s critical for an author to branch out into new universes and push themselves beyond one setting. However, this novel lacks all the complexity and world building of the Inheritance novels. The setting and universe are only briefly set with very little time dedicated to describing what normal for these characters looks like and how events upset this. The characters are flat, predictable, and rushed. Such a lack of development relegated this novel to the dime store shelf next to Fabio. With that said, Space Sci-fi is a difficult genre because there needs to be a certain acceptance of understood physics and elaboration on the conjecture of the authors universe, which is essentially ignored in this book. Reflecting on the book, I feel as if a lot was left on the editing room floor. I feel as if the book was cut to meet a page count and publishing date. I feel as if Paolini was undercut by a label wanting to abuse his previous success or perhaps provide an outlet to him he felt he needed. I feel compelled to write a book review despite having never done so since college. I feel a disappointed by reality, which is the opposite of what a novel should do.

Worth the wait…. It has been a while waiting for this book. When I herd that this was in the works I wanted to get my hands on it. While reading this I was both shocked and impressed with all the hard science that was used. Showing the scale and scope of just where this story takes place. There is a lot of technical information throughout the book along with a lot of scientific jargon that might be hard to understand for some. Most of it I understood easily enough. Some things it took me a while to figure out due to it being part of the fictional science that allowed for the travel and communication between stars. All I all it is a wonderful read. I’m looking forward to another foray in sci-fi from this author.

Great Read. The beginning and ending is excellent, the middle part follows a pretty standard and predictable plot flow; however it is still really good. This has turned out to be one of my favorite science fiction books I have read.

My new favorite. Simply brilliant science fiction, with tons of unpredictable twists and turns

It’s creative…. I loved the Inheritance Cycle and was really excited when I heard this book came out, but I was disappointed as I read it. The main character is nothing more than a bit of sarcasm and a sex drive. She was willing to give her hard-fought-for job away for a man, and even reading the first chapter showed that. When she went through an extremely traumatic event in the book, she didn’t really mourn, as if Paolini forgot that she should have been in a lot of pain. I found a lot of things that were in Eragon in this book, and while those scene were good in fantasy, they just fell flat in sci-fi, especially since I’ve already read them. There were a few more things that stood out to me, like a character who was described as having braids was named very similarly to the n slur, among other things. Overall, it’s a creative idea but I couldn’t read past the half point and had to put it down.

Was hoping for more, but still good. I downloaded this book because I was obsessed with the Eragon series. This book was okay. Sometimes it was a bit hard to follow as well as being a little “unbelievable” as far as sci-fi goes. Specifically the battle between Kira and Ctien crawling around on the jelly ship and some other sections. It was an okay book. Not the page turner the Eragon Series was

Too long. The premise of the book was solid but felt it went on and on. It needed a good editor. I skimmed the last 1/4 of the book and when I finished I was glad. It is a one time read for me.

For teenagers perhaps. One dimensional, cartoonish characters. Simplistic and predictable story development. Waste of money.

Simply Wonderful. I believe Christopher Paolini has done it again. This book, this world, is rich with detail and meaning. Nothing was wasted or irrelevant to the narrative as Paolini was able to naturally create the structure of this new world while pushing and pulling reader forward with the protagonist Kira Navárez. In translation, never did I feel the weight of exposition for expositions sake. Therefore, this massive book never felt boring for every page was needed. I read it all in 3 days. I highly recommend you read it for yourself.

Stunning. Stop looking at reviews and just buy the book. Whether you are a fan of the genre or not the words on the pages are as beautifully written as the Mona Lisa was painted.

I loved it!. I don’t know why this book has such negative reviews? I loved it! I’ve read plenty of fantasy. This was my first time venturing into science fiction, and I was not disappointed!! This gave me a little bit of a “venom” vibe! This book definitely deserves better than the reviews! So give it a chance!!
