i love it. luc’s journey and transformation are funny, heartwarming, and beautifully written

Captivating, Amazing, didn’t want to put down to sleep. From the moment I came across this book on Facebook it intrigued me, and it did not fail. I have recommend this book to anyone and everyone that will listen. Beautifully written with characters that make you fall in love with them for their flaws and all. Wonderful story of two men who, though they seem like opposites, truly belong together. I additionally loved the inside peek into how celebrities can manipulate the media into looking at them a certain way by creating falsehoods about them. Great book, great read. Definitely a 10/10

Should have been longer…. Polar opposites decide to fake date to help one’s reputation and help the other be less uptight. The “fake” part of the relationship began to fade as the two men realized they each liked the other. Parental problems plagued both, but near the end all hope went up in smoke. My imagination went into overdrive guessing how or if these two would solve the problem….or let this be simply a learning foundation for the rest of their lives. I miss them already, but I will remember them for a long time.

Witty and Funny. Great read! I was laughing out loud a lot! I got Bridget Jones Diary vibes and absolutely loved!

Loved reading it. Loved the humor and character development, 5/5 stars. I hope they make this into a movie or something

I almost gave up on this bokk. I almost gave up on this book. Frankly, because one of the characters was mostly unlikable. However, I trudged on, and began to like the deficiencies of both characters. And in the end it was a very satisfying story with highly unlikeable people

Literally best readddd. This book is so good, at first I was a little skeptical because I was waiting for the romance portion but it’s worth the wait. Oliver and Luc are so perfect, they are the perfect example of Love. 10/10 read it or else…

Great British MM RomCom. “It’s easy to be happy when you’re pretending.” Luc O’Donnell is a bit of a mess. He hasn’t seen is rock star father in years. He’s barely holding on to a job at a charity for dung beetles where one more time ending up in the tabloids and he’s done. When he meets barrister Oliver Blackwood they make a pact: Oliver will be the respectable boyfriend for Luc’s charity ball, and Luc will attend Oliver’s parents’ anniversary party. I consider my friend, Jenna, as my ambassador to the romance genre. When she tells me to read something, I will. I preordered this book and started reading it as soon as it came out. I took a break with this one to finish a couple other books but I flew through the last 300 pages. This book is full of so much humor. I loved all of the characters from Luc’s loyal friend circle to his quirky coworkers. The story is told from Luc’s point of view which is inflected with Hall’s wit and humor that made this book hilarious and lovely. I was rooting for Oliver and Luc the whole time and I was not disappointed. I give the author a lot of credit because I think this book could have become one big cliché but it didn’t, and the actual events of the book were more real than I expected. I loved this book. If you’re looking for a great M/M romance without a lot of graphic sex, this is a perfect selection. Absolutely & Delightfully Romantic. I just recently discovered Alexis Hall and I have to say I am so happy that I did. This book was funny, frustrating, smart, and absolutely and delightfully romantic! Lucien, the main character, though at time too self defeating has a beautiful arc that earns the ending. Oliver is every savior complex’s dream guy. The surrounding cast colorful and hilarious. Hall knocks it out of the park and I cannot wait to read the sequel!

Outstanding. Both author Alexis Hall and narrator Joe Jameson are new to me and when I saw a recommendation from an author whose audio books I adore, I immediately one clicked. This was a well written, steamy, fast paced MM story with characters you cannot help but fall for, hook, line and sinker. Joe Jameson did an outstanding job bringing these characters to life and he nailed the characters in my opinion. Luc O'Donnell and Oliver Blackwood are total opposites and yet for me they really are a perfect match. What starts out as an agreement between them to pretend to be one another’s boyfriends, the relationship quickly becomes complicated. This was at times an emotional story and my heart almost broke at times for Luc. From the moment they met you just know that you are in for a fabulous roller coaster of a listen. The chemistry between them is intense and you could feel the sparks ignite between them. The banter is witty and there were so many fabulous moments throughout this book. The path to happiness will not be smooth and some of the twists and turns Alexis Hall wrote had me praying that all would turn out.

Luc and Oliver, funny, flawed feel-good.. I LOVED this book and I loved that this book has been written in the first person... and that is something that I rarely EVER say, but Alexis has written this book in a way that Luc’s voice is meant to be the voice telling the story. His voice positively springs out of the pages. The book is so easy to read with the words all skipping along as though they were overjoyed at being chosen. The story is told with a lot of humour with Luc’s voice actually adding to the storyline. It is funny but it also has moments of genuine emotion, making me laugh out loud one minute, and feeling anger on Luc’s behalf the next *cough*d!€kdad*cough* There are some serious issues that affect Luc and Oliver making this book more than just a feel good, fluffy rom-com, and that, of course, is Alex Hall’s talent as an intelligent story teller. It’s such a roller coaster. I love Luc and Oliver, with their humour and banter and they couldn’t be more right for each other. Of course, there are hiccups along the way for them, but they do get resolved with a HFN with book two (Husband Material) out there ready to be read. There are so many other aspects that I enjoyed, amongst them, the surnames of some of the characters, Luc’s take on his dad’s music talent show in how the contestants are portrayed (so true), Alex and Miffy and Luc’s friends, the couple with the same name. I loved being in Luc and Oliver’s world and am ready to dive straight back in to find out what happens next. 5 stars
