This book has substance!. I just finished reading The Day We Meet Again by Miranda Dickinson and I highly recommend this book! It was an unexpected pleasure from an author I have never read before or heard of but is now going in my Nook arsenal of favorite authors. I had just finished book 2 of an apocalyptic series I am reading and before starting on book 3 needed something less heavy and thought provoking. I saw this book in one of my email newsletters for $0.99 in Nook format and bought it thinking it was a fluffy light romance and the perfect distraction before starting book 3. Instead I was catapulted into the world of Sam and Phoebe and was immediately invested in their choices, thoughts and feelings. This book goes deep into us as humans, our thoughts and experiences that shape us into who we are and why Sam and Phoebe made the choices they did. There are a few unexpected moments and the vivid descriptions of the places in Europe where Sam and Phoebe travel made me feel as if I was alongside them in their experiences. This book has substance! There was a nice little touch at the end where the author included a playlist of the music she listened to while writing the book. The Day We Meet Again. First time reading this author. Glad it had a positive ending, because all the angst was really depressing me. The author can write, I will say that. And the story kept me engaged. But there was a lack of humor and right now the world of readers could use that.
