Blue Christmas. A clever take on the classic Dickens: “A Christmas Carol”,yet still an enjoyably Emma Jameson “Lord and Lady series.

Nicely written. A story u can believe in and a happy ending.

Mystery in a British setting, with an interesting group of characters.. I enjoyed learning the different words and phrases and ways of speaking similar but different. American vs British. I had read all the series prior to this Christmas mystery, and enjoyed all.

Great book!. I love your books I read free books but this was very special Thank you I would love to read more of them

Blue Christmas. Another chapter in the exciting life of Kate and Tony. Nothing is better than spending the season with old friends!

Blue Christmas - Another winner! Loved it!. I couldn’t out this one down! Bills unpaid, laundry not done, dishes stacking up, I had to find out what happened next. Loved it!

Gets worse and worse. I’ve followed this series because some of the plots were clever, but the issues it has just keep getting worse. Spoiler alert: we’re now supposed to be happy a 61 year-old man, married to someone about half his age, is expecting a baby. I’ve never been happy with the author’s cliche “dashing 60 year-old man who improves with age marries young blonde woman” storyline, but it’s much worse than that. The author seems to go out of her way to make sure that when she describes any woman of 40 or older, they’re all either hideously ugly/have had extensive plastic surgery. The men, of course, only improve with age. Unlikable female characters are routine, but men in their 40s (or older) are charming & gorgeous (as she described a 40+ man in her last several books). And of course, a man of 40 marries a 21 year-old supermodel lookalike. She stigmatizes mental illness a great deal—calling people “mental,” “retarded,” “nutters,” and worse throughout the series. None of this is acceptable or has been for decades. Very few female characters are permitted to be likable or have any major role (excepting the 31 year-old Cinderella), & incompetent men who are superficial (Paul) are spoiled heroes. The 61 year-old, of course, makes every woman fall in love/lust with him. Wildly unrealistic & disappointing. The author is pretty ruthless to any female character who is nice or optimistic, but these traits are cute in a man. Worse, she starts with the premise that the place she writes about is sexist, while employing sexist tropes over & over. Her grammar is also bad—there are sentences that aren’t complete sentences, issues with verb tense/conjugation, & more. The mystery in this book is very thin, & the pregnancy is obvious very early. With a subpar plot & sexist tropes being carried even further (we are constantly told about every line on every woman’s face—the men just have “character” in theirs), this book is a waste of time. The author seems to have no problem rewarding gross misconduct in men (a man who repeatedly dates suspects/witnesses—if they’re about half his age & gorgeous—is supposed to be likable & gets promoted), while holding women to impossible standards. She only allows women to be cold “b*tches” (her words), or they are disgustingly sweet. The women typically have no depth at all. The money part is worse & worse—now, we have to know how much every single thing cost (Paul’s shoes, coat, briefcase) & just how rich Kate’s husband is. Disgusted by this book, which also has nothing redeeming in the plot (undeveloped, very predictable, & silly). There are too many characters, & pretty much none of their personalities are developed. We have no idea how old any of the female children are (why would they matter to this author—if they’re over 31, they must be worthless) or anything about them, & the women’s characters are very underdeveloped & tend to be unlikable (as described by the author). Maybe the author thinks it’s cute to use slangy words like “paedo” to describe possible child predators, but this survivor doesn’t. Women are routinely referred to, even by other women & by the main character, in very sexist profane terms, but the worst terms men are described in are far less offensive (if she bothers to insult them at all). I’m unsure why the author bothers to mention that the police service is sexist since she preserves these themes in every book in the series. The ending is ridiculous, & again, the result of a totally undeveloped & thin plot. Hard pass.

Love the series. Read them all. Waiting for more.

Blue Christmas. Great read. Loved the ending.

Blue Christmas. A fun read. Just plain liked it. Class and like plus a good mystery.

Loved it!!. I was thrilled to see that one of my favorite authors had a new book and a Christmas one to boot. The “rooftop” incident really left us breathless and I’m glad Emma kept it real as far as the emotional toll it took out of Kate and Tony. This book really gave us a side of Kate I had been hoping to see. Thank you. All of your characters are well thought out and well executed. Blue Christmas is short and sweet and the perfect gift for your readers.

Read it as quickly as I got it.. I was so happy to be able to have another Hetheridge book. Couldn’t stop reading it. Have read all the others. I look forward to the next!

Blue Christmas. A little boring in the beginning. Way too many names to keep track of. Got more interesting in the last third of the story.

Loved It. Another fun “Blue” story. I did guess something, not telling what! Read and enjoy!

A fun Christmas read. As usual an intriguing puzzle with lots of interesting characters.

Ice Blue. Loved reading this story and Looking forward to reading more of the series. Thank you Emma for your fantastic story telling

Blue Christmas. Loved the complexity of this story. A man frightened to death, numerous possible suspects and a ghoulish way of murder. It had true humanistic qualities of both good and bad. At the end the joy of sharing with others was such a wonderful outcome.

Blue Christmas. Another brilliant read. Can't wait to read more.

Excellent. Like all the other books in this series, this one was amazing. The cast of characters just gets better with every book. 👍👍👍.

Blue Christmas. I felt that I’d come late to the party!! So much was rehashing of the previous book. Upper class snobbery the way only the English can. Boring , silly , a waste of time.

Blue Christmas. Well written, deep characters and a pleasure to spend time reading. Definitely would recommend!

Enjoyable 6 book series. Read the first 3 or 4 books several years ago. Discovered the last two additions recently so decided to reread all books over Christmas vacation as a continuous story. Really enjoy E Jameson’s writing style with smart dialogue, interesting characters, good mix of a “people story” mixed with a bit of murder mystery. The storytelling is fairly unsophisticated but perfect for average vocabularies; the plot is not so gruesome as to make the reader dream all night. Recommended light reading!
