All We Never Knew Book Reviews
All We Never Knew by Elena Aitken Book Summary
An emotional, women's fiction stand-alone novel from USA Today Bestselling Author. All We Never Knew is a powerful "must-read" story of one woman's journey of strength.
What if life really begins at 40 because the life you've meticulously built for yourself is no longer possible?
As far as Maren is concerned, life is perfect and it’s just about to get better. On the cusp of her fortieth birthday and with her only child almost grown, it's time to start putting herself and her marriage first. But when the butterflies in her tummy turn out to be morning sickness, Maren’s world is flipped upside down with an unplanned, high risk pregnancy—one she's ashamed to admit is unwanted.
Overnight, everything changes and the ripple effect of the baby she's so unsure of is felt in every corner of her life. Her perfect life slowly disappears. Her teenage daughter looks for attention in the wrong places. Her best friend inexplicably blows up and stops speaking to her. And worse, her once doting husband pulls away when she needs him the most.
Just when she's sure things couldn't possibly be worse, a shocking discovery rocks Maren's world. Faced with a devastating deception, a truth she can no longer ignore, and an impossible choice, can Maren stop her life from completely unraveling? Or is All We Never Knew too much for love to overcome?

All We Never Knew. This was the best read. I could not put it down. The loss and betrayal was heart breaking. There should be a sequel to this. Pudge48
Don’t miss this one.. Wow, this chick just could not catch a break. Big 40th birthday and her world literally falls apart. Honestly, I don’t know how she survived it in one piece (mentally). The story was moving and I enjoyed reading this book. My heart hurt by the end. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Deeply touching read. It took me a few days to think of what I could say about this book, without giving any spoilers, because it was really pretty…deep for me. It may be that some of the things that happened in the story have happened to me in my own life so it really affected me on many levels. I truly enjoyed the story – read straight thru until 2 in the morning! – because I wanted to know how it ended. The cast of characters are Maren Bennett, her husband Davis, her daughter Rylee, and her best friend, Sabrina. The story opens with Maren walking into a surprise situation annnnnnnnnddddddddd she really doesn’t enjoy them. She is a very controlled individual – has her life planned out, days are scheduled – but in a way that just helps her make it the very busy days that she and her family have. Not a bad thing, just the way it is. Davis loves his wife and daughter very much and is more easy-going. Rylee is a typical teen and probably just like the rest of us when we were her age. I mean, it’s all about her, right? I felt Sabrina was a bit too self-centered but there are other words and feelings I can attribute to her – you will need to read the story to come up with those yourself. I’d say that the events that happen in All We Never Knew would never happen in real life but of course, they do. I can attest to that. In that vein, some of the story can be hard to read because it can dredge up strong feelings. Don’t let that scare you away – I really enjoyed the book. It’s just that sometimes, you see a train wreck about to happen (sometimes because you have been there yourself!) and there is nothing you can do to change events as they happen. I truly appreciate how the author created Maren to be flying steady, blindsided, feeling lower than a worm, and then how she rose above her circumstances to be the best she could be. I feel strongly that everyone should read this story as it is impactful, loving (in its own way) and about support systems you do not even know you have. I feel…more…for having read it.
Little different but good!. Well, this certainly was a different kind of book coming from Elena but it was very well written. It is a tearjerker at times for all of the characters. Maren is married the love of her life Davis. Their daughter Riley just turns 16 and Maren feels her life is complete with her new job and her best friend Sabrina finally becoming pregnant at 40. The twists and turns had me hoping for one ending and then I’d go the next direction. It was so sad at times but there is not always a happily ever after in real life. Can’t say any more because I don’t want to spoil the ending!!
Very powerful book!. Oh The Feels! This book takes you on a journey of discovery........life isn’t always what you think it is and sometimes you have a huge earthquake that shows you the truth. Wow! A very powerful book!
Great emotional story!!. Why do I do this to myself?! Last night I decided to start reading Elena Aitken’s newest story. I was sure I could read a chapter or two & then go to bed. After all, it was 10:30 & she’d mentioned it was different than her other books. Instead, from the first page, I was engrossed in the storyline. I smiled & I cried. Oh, how I cried! This story hit my heart so hard but it was uplifting in parts too. Maren was a beautiful strong woman. I really don’t want to give any spoilers so I’ll just say this is a wonderful story of the trials of a strong woman. Give this story a shot! I think you’ll really enjoy it!
I love this book so much!. All We Never Agnew was simply wonderful! It was also heartbreaking, stress-inducing, frustrating and made me want to throw my e-reader against the wall. This is not like anything Ms. Aitken has written (at least that I’ve read) before. It’s not a romance but a beautifully written story of how one very strong woman deals with her world spinning totally off its axis. I will not go into details, as all my thoughts and feelings would definitely give away hints to the storyline. I do confess to reading it in one sitting, to staying up past my bedtime and enjoying more than any other women’s fiction book I’ve ever read in general, I’m not a fiction...women’s or otherwise...fan. I want that big, sloppy, sometimes sappy HEA. I loved this book. I encourage everyone to read it. One of the best books I’ve read so far this year.
Heart Wrenching!!. Heart Wrenching!! Elena Aitken had me holding my breathe and my kindle as my heart broke in two. Gah! This book is brimming with emotions!!! My heart hurt so bad, but Elena Aitken’s beautiful story telling healed it up and filled me with hope and love. I was completely hooked, completely immersed, completely invested and completely addicted. I literally could not put this book down, I had to keep turning page after page. These characters were so real and dealing with so much. I wanted to heal with them. All We Never Knew is an absolute touching story, I definitely recommend going on this journey with this family.
Good read. Not Elena’s usual but still very engaging. I had to keep reading because I wanted to know what happened next. The end kept me wanting more. Good read, many dilemmas and human emotions. Very surprising at times too. I enjoyed reading it. Well done Elena Aitken. Ricin2. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Outstanding story. I just want to say this book is one of my favorite reads this year and I’ll be buying the paperback, when it becomes available. This book definitely deserves more than 5 stars! This book may be different than Elena Aitken’s previous books, but it is her best work, in my opinion. Maren reaches her 40th birthday and learns she is pregnant. This comes as a total shock to her, especially since she’s looking forward to getting that promotion at work and doing what she wants, for once. Then, she gets a bigger shock, when she learns of a betrayal that she never even imagined. I’m not going to leave any spoilers because I want all women to read this amazing book and fall in love with these characters like I did. I can’t wait for Elena’s next book. Amazing 5 Star Read. ALL WE NEVER KNEW is an awesome read! Ms. Aitken has a writing style that I love. Her characters are very believable, the situations are real, the lies, secrets and betrayals are truly heartbreaking. This is one of the best books I have read in 2020. I highly recommend along with tissues.
Not for me. I tried, but could not make myself finish this book. The main character was so pathetic. It just didn’t speak to me at all. It infuriated me that the main character continually allowed herself to be treated so poorly by her family and best friend. Maybe she turns things around by the end of the book, but I’m not sticking around to find out.

A Winner!!. Absolutely loved this book! The main character Maren, is so relatable and just like you or I. I read this book in one sitting a a few weeks ago and it is still with me, you know that’s a sign of a great book! Perfectly written I can picture everything so clearly in my mind’s eye, this I believe, is a true gift that Ms Aitken possesses. This book is a departure from Elena Aitken’s normal romance but so worth the read! Highly recommend 💕
Very good read. I would definitely recommend this book. It had everything and then some. It ticked all my boxes. The only reason it doesn’t get 5 stars is I am vindictive like that and her friend doesn’t deserve the happy ending it look like she might get after all the pain and suffering she caused as well, but you can win them all lol.
