Deadly Past. DEADLY PAST..Kathie Reus.. Autumn gave up her life and dreams as she had known at twenty three, now once again, in this small town of Verona Bay, she is saying no. A life here with friends, and a baby coming. A sexy neighbor is who she called after the incident, why not 911, and then that look of concern when he came, puzzled her. She had boundaries around her, and never called him by his first name. Checking on her later, a glass of wine, she was cold, and now wondering what she had done, no way, he was law enforcement. He had been wanting to get to know her better, and hope this would continue. Her past comes back and threaten Lincoln and her, would she realize she needed him in her life. Good story of excepting love and protection from Lincoln. Given ARC from Net Galley and KR Press for my voluntary review and my honest opinion

Loved this couple!. I just love books that are set in a small town setting. The more the characters to get to know and loves always seem to bring me into their lives more. That's one of the perks of the Verona Bay series. Lincoln is also a huge reason why I enjoyed Deadly Past. He's the town's sheriff and has had a thing for his neighbor ever since she moved in. As we get to know Lincoln, he proves to be a true gentleman who is also very protective. He hinted at being a pretty possessive guy but unfortunately we don't get to see that side of him, only because he was holding back due to Autumn. Autumn has had some pretty crazy and scary experiences in her life that has shaped her into being a cautious heroine. This is the big reason Lincoln had to tread a bit lightly around her. While I would have loved to see him more Alpha in this, it was a big reason we got to see how much of a gentleman he was. I'm just as drawn to that characteristic that seems to be rare in books these days. Overall, this was an enjoyable read. As Lincoln courts Autumn, we have her past catching up to her and a few mysterious things that creep in that keeps us on our feet. We've already got hints for the next couple in the book and I'm very curious about a few of those hints left behind.

4 1/2 Stars for this heart-pounding romance!. I just loved Autumn ... she went through so much at such a young age and came out stronger. And who wouldn’t want a hunk like Lincoln looking out for them? I really liked that their relationship developed over time even though they both could feel the electricity between them. I also loved the mystery of who was doing what to screw with Autumn’s life ... was it her past coming back to haunt her or was it someone from her present? Although this book can be read as a stand-alone, I think that I would have related to the other characters more had I read the 1st book ... which I will totally go back and read. I can’t wait for the next book ... which I presume will be the other brother’s story. When Autumn was 22 she witnessed a man hoisting a dead body into a dumpster and the pictures she took of him along with her testimony sent him away for life. Because of 2 attempts on her life she entered witness protection. Ten years later she has finally found a place she wants to call home. A place where she has friends, a job she loves and a home she’s made her own. But one day she’s in the bank when it gets robbed and she’s afraid her picture will get out there and she will be found. So when Lincoln, the Sheriff and her neighbour, comes over to console her, they end up having a hot night of passion. Lincoln has had his eye on Autumn for awhile and after the night they spent together, he wants to make her his. But she won’t have any part of it ... so for now he’ll bide his time and be her friend. When they found out that they are going to be parents, Lincoln’s protective nature takes over. When strange things start to happen to Autumn, she fears she’s been found. This is Sheriff Lincoln Jordan, and art teacher Autumn Perez’ story line. DEADLY PAST can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary. Told from several third person perspectives including Lincoln and Autumn DEADLY PAST follows the building romance and relationship between Sheriff Lincoln Jordan, and art teacher Autumn Perez. Thirty-two year old, Autumn Perez is in the witness protection program for testifying, ten years earlier, against a murderer with political connections. A local bank robbery in Verona Bay is about to reveal Autumn’s location to the people in charge but our heroine refuses to move one more time. Sheriff Lincoln Jordan has desired his neighbor, Autumn Perez, for as long as he can remember but a phone call from our heroine after witnessing a local bank robbery pulls Lincoln into the orbit that is Autumn Perez. One -night together finds Autumn pregnant with Lincoln’s child but Autumn is in no position to demand anything permanent. Knowing a life on the run is not in the cards for the man that will call to her heart, Autumn refuses to make plans with her father’s child but the past demands reparations, and is targeting our couple with deadly consequences. The relationship between Autumn and Lincoln is one of immediate attraction but Autumn struggles with her past, and refuses to place Lincoln in the direct line of fire, regardless of his position as the Verona Bay sheriff. Lincoln Jordan knows only that Autumn is the woman he holds close to his heart but our hero has no idea about her past, and the possibility that Autumn’s life is constantly in danger. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic, language and text. We are reintroduced to Serenity and Lincoln’s brother Lucas Jordan (Dark Memento #1); Easton Jordan; pet shop groomer and Autumn’s friend Adeline; Mac Collins; FBI handlers Derek Ryman and Erica ;and the requisite evil Rand and Tom Coventry, and Mark Cadman. There is definitely an attraction between Adeline and Mac. DEADLY PAST is a story of vengeance and betrayal; murder and retribution; family, friendships, relationships and love. The premise is intriguing and edgy; the romance is provocative; the characters are dynamic and spirited.
