Elise by Margery Scott Book Summary
Betrayed and widowed, rancher Jason Porter needs a woman. Not for himself, because he'll never be able to love and trust a woman again, but for his infant daughter. It's impossible to take care of a baby and run his ranch, and he's not interested in marrying any of the women in Sapphire Springs.
Elise Dupont expected a much different life than she found when her parents brought her to America. Instead of wide-open spaces, clear skies and freedom to build her own life, she found air filled with factory smoke, a rundown tenement and bare survival.
When Elise accepts Jason's offer of a marriage of convenience, she believes her dreams are finally coming true. As their friendship deepens, Elise finds herself wishing for a real marriage, but how can she live with a man who doesn't trust her? And how can Jason put aside his suspicions and let himself fall in love again?

Elise by Margery ScottI adored reading this delightful romance between Elise, a mail-order bride from New York City, & Jason, a widower with a baby daughter‼️👍. Get your copy to learn how this betrayed & lonely ranch owner learns to trust & welcome love back into his life with his beautiful, kind, hardworking bride who loves & cares for little Beth, him, & their home❣️ it’s the first time I’ve read a book by Ms Scott, but it definitely won’t be the last - Elise was a most enjoyable read❣️👏. ReviewDon’t waste your time reading it. Elise lied to her husband, went behind his back and did something he asked her not to do, was sneaking around at night in men’s bedrooms, etc. When her husband caught her with a half naked man in another man’s bedroom who was paying her cash, some how Elise thought her husband was the bad guy. She packed her things and left after the argument. She basically made him beg and kiss her butt before she would come home. Elise comes across as a narcissistic spoiled selfish brat. She was in the wrong and she wasn’t woman enough to try to fix things. This is NOT a good example of how a strong woman acts. A strong woman would have acted like an adult and explained the business plan she had with him instead of lying to him and going behind his back. This book makes woman look bad. If the author was trying to make Elise look like a strong woman, she missed by a million miles..Score: 1/5
