Amazing!!!!!!!. What an amazing book! The start is slow and it was hard to get through but once I did, omg the most thrilling and beautiful story emerged. Loved loved loved the book!

Amazing but.... This story was so captivating and fun to read. I loved it so much I read it in one day! But my one problem is sometimes it gets repetitive. Latter in the book you see a lot of Poppy and Casteel repeating the same old material in their tense conversations with that in mind I still loved every word of the book and could not bare to put it down for too long. I usually don’t read books for fun so if I read a 627 page long book in one day that means I loved it!!! I recommend you spend your money if you where thinking of buying It because it was a beautiful book that I want to read again already

Amazing, hot, and an adventure!. Absolutely amazing, I have put this book off for almost 3 months. The ebbing is painstakingly slow, but the middle and ending is AMAZING. If you are considering reading this, DO IT NOW! It’s an adventure worth reading and continuing! I know I’m about to buy the next book!

Terrible writing. This book has the writing of a middle schooler, and the sophomoric themes to match. One of the worst books I’ve read in years.

Alluring. Intriguing.. Just wow. The entire plot, from start to finish, had me ensnared. I bought this book at 6 am on a Saturday and finished it at 4 am Sunday. I could not put it down.

OMG. I loved this book. I bought the audio because I have read the author and enjoyed her books but was a little hesitant because of the new genre but OMG…. I only listen in the car to and from work and had to buy the books because I wanted to continue the story on my breaks, when I got home and when I woke up. On to book Two.

Captivating series!. I’m re-reading this series after re-reading the prequel series and it makes so much more sense now! I’ve never re-read anything but I loved both series and I felt like I was missing pieces of the puzzle or couldn’t remember certain important details. Glad I took that leap. Plus I’m also biding my time until the release of the next books in both series.

Complex Read. A fairytale with a twisted ending. The book has a slow build up and burn, yet despite the smoldering heat below the surface, readers stay entrances until the very last page. I definitely enjoyed the read and I rushed to by the second and third installment.

Mediocre Plot. This was fine, but definitely not amazing. The entire plot seems borrowed from a bunch of different fantasy stories but so thinly veiled that it makes it laughable. Wolven= werewolves Vampry = made vampires Atlantians = born vampires. Just very trite with some of her characters and her plot lines, and her naming of things is also lazy. However, the main character is fairly interesting so that does add a lot to the overall story.

Le tengo aprecio a el libro por que me saco de un bloqueo y me introdujo al mundo fantástico puesto a que es muy entretenido, tiene un mundo fantástico bastante interesante y fácil de entender, si embargo pienso que no es libro que me explotó la cabeza de lo bueno que era, creo que la situación con los rebeldes fue abordada de una forma que a mi en particular no me gusto y siento que algunos personajes fueron muy planos apesar de la importancia y peso que tenían el la vida de la prota.

Five stars. This book kept me captivated. I couldn’t put it down. I got teary eyed in a few parts and it’s the perfect level of spicy. Love that Poppy is finding herself.

Emotional. This book was very emotional for me. I laughed, cried, and even became angry at some points. I was hard to stop reading. Getting ready to start the second book, I can only hope its as amazing as this one.

I know the beginning can seem a little slow to some, but trust me, it’s a great story build up! This series is probably my favorite of all time, and I will most likely continue to read and re-read these books over and over again. GREAT READ!!

First book in this genre. I have never read a book with smut or a fantasy style book. This was a very good first read for me. I thought the storyline was very good there’s a lot of character building which does some may seem boring because it doesn’t have this month but I really enjoy the tension that the author billed through the character building and storyline. About halfway through the book I read a review that said that the smut comes towards the end of the book and I would agree. It was definitely worth the wait.

I want to like it. Predictable hopefully sequel is better - yes I did like it enough to try the next book. But the love/hate thing gets old after while. Hopefully their relationship develops.

My god 😮‍💨. This book had everything, love, action, adventure, intensity, powerful lead characters, mystery and an amazing plot! It took me only 2 days to ready this book, I meant what I said, I spent hours just reading cause it was so 𝘐𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘶𝘪𝘯𝘨. By all means, this book is worth the price and more! BookTok Find = Top Favorite. I was feeling cautious about buying this book because I had seen it on BookTok and was nervous that it would not be worth it. Let me just say, that I am so angry that I did not purchase it sooner. I read the book in maybe 3 days, and I just finished the second book in this series within these last four days. If you liked “A Court of Thorns and Roses” series, you will definitely like this series. The plot is pretty different and the fantasy elements involve different kinds of worlds, but it still encompasses that strong female lead who wants to do the right thing, but also still has so much to learn about her world. Plus, there is a little bit of spice and romance, which makes you fall in this whirlwind of emotions with Hawke and Poppy. I personally loved this book more because of the details that really pulled me in to wanting to know more and more. I’m about to start the third book, so hopefully this series will continue to be fantastic. 5/5 and have already recommended to multiple people.

Parents should read this before their YA daughter does. Ridiculous! And a woman wrote it, she seems to be completely fine promoting sexual assault thinly disguised as a man helping a virgin discover the beauty of having an orgasm, but without her giving consent. Disgusting.

LOVE. Addicting, amazing and a must read

Loved it. From Blood and Ash is the first book in the Blood and Ash series and this was just a great way to start off a new series. Oh my gosh this was just such a great book to read. I was just drawn into this new world with it’s characters. I just was taken on a journey and I didn’t want it to end. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.

Utterly captivating. I will be the first to admit I was a little unsure when I started this book, but given how highly it was spoke of I figured I should give it more than a 2 chapter chance and I’ve never been so glad I did! I completely fell in love with these beautifully written complicated characters. Plus, the spicy scenes are the best addition, I don’t know if I could love this series more!

From blood and ash. As much as it kills me to stop with Book 1 in this series, I have to. I literally couldn't stop reading. For me, the perfect "series" is 3 long books with an ending. I can't commit to an open-ended series simply because I would lose my "real" physical world in my literally-can't-stop-reading fantasy world. Too bad. So sad.

Like.. kind of..repetitive.. boring. Get to the point JA!. I’m really, really trying to get into this book but it’s difficult. It’s very slow paced and nothing is really happening. I’m on chapter 12 or 13. The author is extremely repetitive in her writing. Writes a lot with out saying anything. I’m sick of reading how golden hawke’s eyes are!!! We get it? Ok? And yes we know Poppy’s the maiden. Jeez! I’ve heard her other books in this series are repetitive. The editor should have shaved this a down to half. Maybe get a new editor. I’m convinced JA was getting paid by the word. I’m going to finish this but hope it gets better. Life is too short

Interesting. Slow and boring start with a plot that you can kinda pick up from a mile away but the last few chapters get really interesting really fast

predictable. yeah, this book will scratch an itch for teenage needy low-key toxic romance. graphic in the spicy scenes. but i don’t think i would call it good lol. definitely super predictable and several major plot holes. if you liked twilight you will like this.

It’s good but not great. this was a highly anticipated read for me and I think the author has some skill in world building, there are several unique aspects to the book but the writing still is somewhat basic and it can be painfully repetitive. I agree with other reviewers that this book could have been shaved down to about half the size. Sometimes the author just needs to make her point VERY clear but I think she needs to trust us as readers to understand context as opposed to spelling everything out for us several times. I’ll definitely finish the book, there are a lot of good things about it, but I think her editor isn’t doing her any favors.

Rough start. Rating this a four because the whole series is worth it, but it’s a super slow start. Almost gave up four times.

Totally gripping. I swear it’s amazing to find a book that can grip me from start to finish. This book did just that and more! This book made me feel awestruck by how I was gripping the ends of my hair in anticipation one moment and getting hot the next second by hawke’s comments. The author’s detail drove me high with happiness because, once read, it shows the significant amount of thought and time that must have gone in to this book. I love it and it’s quickly become one of my favs. It became a must for me to read the second book (which doesn’t happen often) and I can’t wait for the third to be released!

One of the best books I’ve read since ACOMAF. I haven’t read a book that sends my mind into another universe since Sarah J MAAS. However, this book tops it. Not your average "Vampire" story. Can I be honest? I think JLA is incapable of being able to disappoint. I keep waiting for the day and yet she keeps on delivering above and beyond. I had a friend ask me, did she write a vampire book? (indicating that vampires had been overdone) and I had to pause and think for a second because this book never felt like a "vampire story" in fact it took that question for me to realise "oh yeah... I suppose there is a race of vampire like creatures in there". This story felt anything but cheesy or overdone. It was incredibly original and intriguing throughout the entire book. The world that JLA has created keeps you thinking and guessing and paints a clear picture in your head as though you are able to watch the movie in your mind. Who needs the big screen when you have writing like this? Poppy is an incredibly strong character who also shows the flaws and insecurities that women sometimes face. It's a pleasure to follow the journey in her mind. I'd recommend this to anyone looking for a not to serious but intriguing book with the other world-like escape.

Great Read. From Blood and Ash was a great read, I did find it hard to keep a track of all the races and details at the beginning however as I read more it became easier. I did pick the reveal early on but that didn’t ruin the story for me. Im interested to see where book 2 will lead.

Initial Thoughts. I’m not sure if i like this book because of the amount i’ve seen it hyped up, or because i actually like it. It was well written, but there were times in the story that I felt more could have been done. The ending didn’t quite make sense to me, although I anticipate that will be explained in the next book, however, i feel like I should have enough information to surmise logically why things would’ve happened in the order that they did, I hope that makes sense. I think I like it, I’m definitely reading the next one, but yeah I do definitely think that the plot was thin in some spots or that certain things just didn’t make sense for the way everything was set up. I hope that makes sense lol, but yeah, otherwise, I really enjoyed this book, I think the author did a great job and I’ll be recommending it to my friends

Immersive. It’s been a long time since I read a book that I’ve enjoyed this much. I found myself wishing throughout the day, that I could just curl up and keep reading. I don’t often get to read a book that elicits an emotional response from me, but there were so many occasions that this book made me smile, or feel angry or sad. Absolutely loved it.

Fantastic blend of romance and fantasy. I’ve recently gotten into romance novels and wanted to try something along those lines but different. Well did this deliver! This fantasy romance novel has the perfect amount of action and story twists and kept me interested from the first chapter. Could not put this down. Can’t wait to read the rest of the series

There was an excellent pace, the character development and progression was wonderfull. As well as having a story line that is full of adventure and detail without being over crowded and confusing.
