Welp that ending. I really liked the protagonist and her guard. Other male characters were ehhh. Plot wise, I liked some of the twists and what not. But I felt like it kind of felt like it was given away too easily all at the end. *spoilers* I really am tired of older emperor falls for young woman trope. Gives me the ick. At least he wasn’t a thousand year old fae.
Weak. When Askia accepted and wore the gifted necklace from Radovan, this entire book was ruined. She knew about the stones being used to steal magic, then to make it worse, Dobor used his necklace in his attack. She still wore the necklace after that. Then Askia couldn’t figure out why her powers wouldn’t work and didn’t even try to figure out why. A distinct lack of plot sophistication and common sense. Highly disappointing. Where are your advisors and editors?? Weak.
Page by page. Fantastic and imaginative progression of character, plot, and theme! Kelly begins her series by weaving a colorful journey mixed in magic, court intrigue, the power of king and kingdom, and the hope of a warrior. Most of all, Kelly leaves you wanting more...
