The Things We Leave Unfinished by Rebecca Yarros Book Summary

Told in alternating timelines, THE THINGS WE LEAVE UNFINISHED examines the risks we take for love, the scars too deep to heal, and the endings we can’t bring ourselves to see coming.

Twenty-eight-year-old Georgia Stanton has to start over after she gave up almost everything in a brutal divorce—the New York house, the friends, and her pride. Now back home at her late great-grandmother’s estate in Colorado, she finds herself face-to-face with Noah Harrison, the bestselling author of a million books where the cover is always people nearly kissing. He’s just as arrogant in person as in interviews, and she’ll be damned if the good-looking writer of love stories thinks he’s the one to finish her grandmother’s final novel…even if the publisher swears he’s the perfect fit.

Noah is at the pinnacle of his career. With book and movie deals galore, there isn’t much the “golden boy” of modern fiction hasn’t accomplished. But he can’t walk away from what might be the best book of the century—the one his idol, Scarlett Stanton, left unfinished. Coming up with a fitting ending for the legendary author is one thing, but dealing with her beautiful, stubborn, cynical great-granddaughter, Georgia, is quite another.

But as they read Scarlett’s words in both the manuscript and her box of letters, they start to realize why Scarlett never finished the book—it’s based on her real-life romance with a World War II pilot, and the ending isn’t a happy one. Georgia knows all too well that love never works out, and while the chemistry and connection between her and Noah is undeniable, she’s as determined as ever to learn from her great-grandmother’s mistakes—even if it means destroying Noah’s career.

Amazing. I have no words. Only tears , absolutely heart crushingly beautiful

Beautiful. I loved the story it was heart touching

heart has exploded. loved this book! i was a little weary with the 1940’s and truly just wanted to dive deep into noah and georgias romance. Although, I loved that it displayed another romance. Twist at the end had me dead

Best book!!. I read constantly and this is absolutely the best book I’ve read in years!!

Wow. This is the first book I’ve read from this author and just wow. I loved this book so much. I bought myself the paperback and 2 more as gifts. I love the characters!!! So much love between them all. The bond between the sisters is beautiful and Jameson and Scarlet is swoon worthy and last but not least Noah and Georgia’s story is epic. This book did not disappoint.

Wow.Wow.Wow.. I never write reviews…maybe because I don’t often read books and by often I mean this is the third book my ADHD brain has been able to complete in 10 years because it captured my attention since the beginning. I just finished it and Wow. is the only word that can come to mind. Just read it! It’s more than worth it. Props to the writer, you’re amazing.

Speechless. Best book I’ve ever read.

Worth it. You won’t regret it .

Big surprise. Loved. Two different stories. Ww2 and present day. Lovely love stories with tradgeties s.

The not-HEA you ever knew unfolding!. Seriously, you’ll want to read this masterpiece of three love stories entwined by sisterhood and a last dying wish. You’ll walk away with two HEAs and a third crushing twist of fate that leads to a resting peace HEA. Usually I can give spoilers to the romanc stories I read…but I can’t do that to this piece. You deserve to find out why Yarros is a wordsmith at her best.

Must read!. I could not put this book down. Very addicting and so romantic!!!! Recommend it to everyone. The ending was a major shock!

Soooo good!. Love her writing style and this book is like getting 2 for the price of 1.

Here’s to two endings. Excellent war story! My parents had there own WWII love story. Thanks for the images. I am glad Noah gave Scarlet and Jameson a happily ever after.

Great book. Over all the book was great, amazing plot twists and writing. It could have been better if the details and some aspects like the dialog where a bit less cheesy. But still a great book and would recommend

best book 10/10. heart wrenchingly beautiful

The Things We Leave Unfinished. I completely skipped the 1940s story within this story. The surprise ending rated a 4/5 though! The dialogue seemed sophomoric between Georgia and Noah. The royalty and famous director characters seemed more fairy tale than real.

Loved this!. Couldn’t put it down. Fantastic ending.

Loved. Absolutely loved every second of it. Little twist at the end that I didn’t see coming, but was so happy about it because it seemed like the only way I would’ve been happy for all the characters.

Wow. This one blew my mind. I have stayed up way too late reading the last few nights. Unbelievable love story. This will be in my top 3 favorites. Gives The Notebook a run for its money!

Amazing!. An amazing book that will keep you turning the pages to find out how both epic love stories end. The author does a great job at detailing, switching between both stories and keeping you guessing. This book will wreck you in the best way possible.

Five stars are not enough. Stop what your doing right this instant and read this book. Seriously, read this book now. I’m not going to lie..you will need tissues! LOTS.OF.TISSUES. And you will cherish every tear because this book is spectacular. It’s is beautiful. It’s is heartbreaking. It is inspiring. It is uplifting. It’s is frustrating at times. It is enduring. It is proof that selflessness is the ultimate sacrifice. It is LOVE! The author has interwoven two stories to show us how one families love and sacrifice has a ripple effect through time. One story takes place in England during the Second World War. An American fighter pilot flying for England, Jameson meets Scarlet who’s in the WAAF (Women’s Auxiliary Air Force) doing her part for the war movement. They fall in love. But their time together is overshadowed by fear and the ever present threat of Germany’s relentless air raids and bombings. Georgia and Noah are in present day Colorado. And Georgia’s grandmother is Scarlet from the other story. She is who brings Georgia and Noah together now. What happens in the pst has a huge impact on this family and the ones they love in the present. The road is rocky and filled with twists and turns but in the end...the difficult journey to love is worth the sacrifice.

Loved this book!. I’ve read lots of books but this is by far my favorite book ever!

New Top 5. This book will most definitely be added to my top 5 favorite books to read. Such an emotional and addictive book!!

Scarlett, my Scarlett. I need to sit Rebecca Yarros down on the naughty step and make her sit there until her legs go numb. Then I am going to tell her that she can keep sitting on that naughty step until I forgive her for using block and fix you a coffee (who broke the coffee?). This isn’t just a book, it’s a book within a book and I loved both of them equally. Scarlett Wright meets Jameson Stanton an American airman stationed in the UK and they fall madly, deeply, totally in love. The world is torn apart by World War Two, I was expecting tears. The other story is Scarlett’s great granddaughter Georgia Stanton. Freshly divorced she’s back in the home she shared with Gran in Colorado. Scarlett became a prolific romance writer but there is one unfinished manuscript, her own love story. Noah Morelli, a writer known for killing off his characters, is going to finish Scarlett’s story. The two stories dovetail together so well. Pieces in the UK in the 1940s were sweet and romantic. I absolutely fell in love with Jameson. Even with the Americanisms I thought it was fabulous. Then modern day Georgia and Noah, swoon. I can hear him saying dance with me Georgia right now. Delicious. And I can hear Jameson saying Scarlett, my Scarlett. I’m lost in the beauty of their love. Regardless of naughty step sitting, I absolutely loved this book. Proper, actually, without any doubt at all, loved it. It’s a winner. I mean, top 2021 reads list without a doubt.

Not for me. Managed to get just over half way though and decided to call it quits. Just not for me, it didn’t grip me as I knew where the story was heading.
