Summer romance. It is always nice to read about a fun summer romance that ends in love.

Uplifting story. Characters are lovely, flawed and believable. Enjoyed this and looking forward to future books!

The Cottage of New Beginnings. Good for people seeking a familiar read. Annie’s wedding is called off and she flees to a remote village to recover and encounters mutual love at first site in Jon, but doesn’t want to get hurt again. Sarah is your typical stuck-up rival just trying to pat her image and there’s the usual doubt and misunderstandings that the story cycles through. As such, those looking for something new should look elsewhere. While the author is skilled at scenic descriptions, when it comes to the narrative itself there’s a lot of unnecessary mundane details. Simple actions or dialogue are explained when the context is self-explanatory and just results in frequent restatements and a dragged out story, making immersion difficult. It’s hard to be invested in Annie as a main character. She is always either daydreaming about Jon, being jealous over Jon, wallowing in her cottage, or cooking, that last one being the only interesting bit. When a teen goes missing, instead of immediately seeing what she can do to help, she goes into a discussion about insecurities she has about her relationship with Jon and they make out in the living room, creating tone issues. As a priority this feels out of place since Annie became a teacher because Molly, who posthumously left her this cottage, inspired her by being there for her in her youth. The story would have been more interesting if Annie actually taught high school instead of primary school so Jon’s work with troubled youths could be something they work on together, instead of letting it simply be another thing for her to repeatedly admire about him while her own projects remain vague and undiscussed. Also, she is weirdly not at all alarmed by Jon tearing off her gate and dumping it on her lawn when he storms off in a jealous rage. This book is a tad religious, as it’s a central part of Jon’s character, a heads-up for those averse.

Refreshing love story. What a sweet and refreshing love story. Wonderful details that made me feel as if I were actually part of the story.

The Cottage of New Beginnings. So nice to read a well written novel without (having to skip) sex scenes. Romance is more exciting this way. Great talent/writing.

Challenging. I think that the male lead had me more frustrated than the female lead most of the time. His mood changes were exhausting with both having jealously and fear of commitment issue while the strong pull was there from the start, but it was the way it flowed was a bit slow for me, with his constant abrupt coldness contrasting at times.
