Sophie Lawson should be enjoying her sister’s wedding day. But nothing could have prepared her to see the best man again.
After her mother became bedridden and her father bailed on the family, Sophie found herself serving as a second mother to her twin brother, Seth, and younger sister, Jenna. Sophie supported her siblings through their college years, putting aside her own dream of opening a bookshop in Piper’s Cove—the quaint North Carolina beach town they frequented as children.
Now it’s finally time for Sophie to follow her own pursuits. Seth has a new job, and Jenna is set to marry her college beau in Piper’s Cove. But the destination wedding reunites Sophie with best man Aiden Maddox, her high school sweetheart who left her without a backward glance.
When an advancing hurricane strands Aiden in Piper’s Cove after the wedding, he finds the hotels booked to capacity and has to ask Sophie to put him up until the storm passes. As the two ride out the weather, old feelings rise to the surface. The delay also leaves Sophie with mere days to get her bookshop up and running. Can she trust Aiden to stick around? Good premise, good book. How nice to read a book that actually mentions God, has no graphic sex scenes, & holds your interest even though it follows a very familiar formula. I enjoyed this book very much & will look for others by this author.
Engaging. Enjoyable, realistic read! Loved the characters and was happy to see boundaries incorporated into the story. Truly enjoyable and hard to put down until finished.
Sweet beach read. Who can resist a beach read with a bookshop on the beach? This was a delightful read and just what I needed to reset my palate. Sophie comes into contact with her first love, Aiden, during her sister’s wedding. Miscommunications abound as these two work to figure out If the spark is still there (it sure is) and how to make love work this time around. All this while juggling long distance and opening a new book store! Yes, this was predictable and I had to remove slight annoyance that 2 grown people can’t articulate what’s on their minds. However, it was fun and had great messaging about love, family and what matters most. Thanks to Debrah for her awesome review, which inspired me to listen to this with complete indulgence.
Just what I needed!. Have started two books this week and out both down within first hundred pages...poorly written and hard to follow. Needed this book. Watching God teach the characters about loving others His way. Right now in my life, I needed that reminder.
