Remember Me? (Book One): A DCI McKenzie Crime Thriller by Ian C.P. Irvine Book Summary

For fans of crime, mystery and detective, and police-procedurals, this is a must read.
A startling, gripping crime thriller from one of the UK’s top new authors. A real page turner that will keep you on the edge of your seat until the very, last, line.
Two teachers are murdered, with the first killing publicly played out before hundreds of horrified spectators, and the other victim found dead only hours later.
Having just returned to duty from his recent suspension, DCI McKenzie (Say You’re Sorry & The Assassin’s Gift) quickly discovers he’s dealing with a sick but highly intelligent serial killer.
With a school reunion planned for that same night, in a race against time, McKenzie and his small team of investigators must use all their skills to track down the killer before more depraved murders take place, and more teachers from the school die. But as the hours roll by and the death toll mounts, McKenzie finds himself facing a genius mystery criminal who is always one step ahead of the police and somehow anticipating their every move. In the days that follow, the school campus becomes a maze of rooms and tunnels where new murders are discovered, and the death toll mounts.
With surprising twists and turns at every stage, this is a ‘classic whodunnit ‘ that will keep you guessing to the very end. Can you spot who the killer is, or will they get away with the perfect murders?
Remember me? You’ll never forget it!

Remember MeLike many authors now, the book is a cliff hanger with no resolution at the end. The reader has to read the next book, and the next book, to read the outcome. This puts me off the author. It is a marketing ploy to sell more books. Why can’t an author realise it is the excellence of his/ her plotting and writing that sells books, not an artificial “cliff hanger” that supposedly encourages a reader to buy the next book. I find such a strategy a real letdown and I have no intention of buying the next book..Score: 3/5

Remember me book 1A very good storyline making a good read. But, it ends suddenly without any resolution. This is not a standalone book, it is just part one of the tale. When is the next instalment to be published? I will have forgotten it all by then. I wouldn't have bothered if I'd known it wasn't complete..Score: 5/5

IncompleteHas a good idea behind it but felt as though a lot of time was spent introducing new characters that had no meaning to this book. Then it just ends... no conclusion to any of the characters, and it is literally stopped in what seems mid-chapter. I was frustrated upon completing that the next one isn’t available to at least continue. I’ll have forgotten all about it by the time another book comes out.. which deters me from getting the next book. Annoyingly there are a also number of spelling mistakes throughout as if it hasn’t been proof read..Score: 2/5
